Why are ranged DPS champs allowed to have both mobility and CC?

This isn't a complaint thread this is a legit question.

Take Vayne for example, she already has range which alone is a huge benefit over melee's, but she also has her condem to knock away someone that gets close to her so why does she also get tumble for mobility?

Or move to caitlyn who has absurd range as well as 3 setable traps and a net that slows, so why does she also get mobility from the net?

I'm no genius but I thought the counterplay to the ranged over melee in just about any video game was the fact it's a huge pain in the ass for the melee to catch the ranged but if they managed to then the ranged was fucked.

To counter the point on Vayne's Tumble: Have you ever actually used her Tumble?

I'm not being sarcastic here or anything, that was a serious question. Her Tumble is such a tiny distance to travel with that only resets if she hits something (or you let the entire duration of the auto attack modifier wear off, but that's a titanic problem on its own). Vayne's only really mobile if she's allowed to chain multiple Tumbles in a row. The problem is you (should) often use it in a defensive manner, but because of how long the Cooldown timer is if you don't hit anything, Vayne must stay within auto attack range in order to really get any mileage out of that skill. She's mobile in the most suicidal way: Tiny correctional dashes that can only defend you if you continue to keep yourself in peril.

Also Condemn is a single target skill. While you can argue it's painful for melees to duel her, League isn't about who's the best duelist and you're rarely going to need to complain about it in Teamfights unless you literally rush in 1v5 to get to Vayne, and fail when she knocks you back.

Caitlyn's Traps are exceedingly unreliable in "Oh shit" situations, so their defensive application quite frankly is just shit. Furthermore, slows shouldn't affect that many melees anyway, as they often have powerful gap closers in some form that aren't effected by slows at all.

As a melee assassin main (Talon Rengar) the only adc I fear is Vayne. Typically Unless I am really fed all they do when I am rengar for example is run along a wall. Right when I jump out they use ult, q away, condem me to a wall. Those 3 things will break my combo and allow her to kill me before I can get next to her. It is an outplay of Vaynes but still silly that an equally fed assassin gets blown up by her because of her CC. I agree with the OP that adc's shouldn't need both Cough Kalista Cough.

Vayne is super great in small skirmishes, like 2-3 on each side. It's funny. Stun someone, which lets Vayne get into position to stun them again. And tumble is the best skill for staying in autoattack range.

Vayne destroys melees in general. Even Master Yi has a very hard time dueling her without Banshees and red sweeper, and in teamfights, forget it. Better to splitpush and try to force either 2 players or Vayne (yeah, Vayne counts for 2 players) to go and try to stop you.

This is one of the most offensively mobile melees in the game btw, with both resetting dashes and a massive, multiplicative speed boost.
