How does skipping a division work?

From what i have heard when your MMR is MUCH higher than your current elo. you get to skip a division

according to
https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=SwiftKitten88

I have silver 3MMR. now obviously that site isn't perfect.. but... Just today i ranked back up to silver 5 from bronze. (for the 4th season in a row, you think they would learn to stop putting me in bronze)

i have won the last 11 ranked games in a row and I've won 14 out of the last 15 games...

at what point do i get to skip a division? 25/32 = 78% win rate... http://imgur.com/AX0fZDQ

you need around a full rank higher mmr to skip division. If you're silver 5 with gold 5 mmr, you'll most likely skip to silver 3, and possibly skip your promos.

sure, but a few weeks ago, you lost 14/16 games. It's likely your current winstreak at the very least fixed your mmr. how much lp are you getting per win/loss?

yeah i had a 9 game loss streak and an 8 game loss streak

but i have also had TWO 8 games winning streaks... and my most recent 11 game winning streak today.

Anyways now that my MMR is higher it should be even easier to climb because my teammates now how SOME idea of what to do.

No, they still have no idea what to do. Played with people up to Gold 1....still no clue so far. Not to say that I don't also occasionally do stupid shit too....but just that it continues to be an abundant problem. Especially with yasuos, vaynes, bot laners who feed because they wont conform to the new lethality meta, autofilled ppl, etc.

Its just bad. You have to identify their fuck ups and try to coach them (without flaming) into not doing the thing they continue to do wrong (which tends to be chasing kills and over extending).

When you play eve jungle, all your lanes are pushed and people are bitching you're not ganking, but the other team's jungle keeps ganking, you just want to curb people american history X style.

According to most people, the massive mistakes don't go away until diamond.

i actually made a thread earlier today about the common mistakes and strategy http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/GD/0TiAyEMn-strategy-of-league-how-to-climb

LOL here's the short list i just wrote on another thread about how the feeding wasn't better when he switched from norms to ranked and had to stop because I was getting tilted writing it:

The feed is real because people dont know how to 1) manage their minion waves 2) not over extend 3) farm well at turret 4) farm like shit at due to poke knowing that not feeding their laner and avoiding missing xp is more important than trying to grab an extra 19 gold caster minion 5)chase people into unwarded bushes 6)not overstay 7)correctly choose when to drag/rift/baron 8)avoid running it down mid when the mid inhib is already gone and their whole team is up instead of rotating to another lane and getting a 2nd inhib for more map pressure 9) draft a team with appropriate counters to certain enemy champions (knock ups/stuns for kat ult for example 10) draft teams with a well rounded damage comp 11) play a tank.....

I seriously could go on but I was in a good mood until i started writing this post and now I'm tilted. lol

It's more to do with MMR than win rate, although having a good winrate certainly does wonders for your MMR. If your mmr is average (or worse) before a recent win spree though, then you probably wont climb as fast as if you went on a win spree immediately after placements (i.e. so your overall winrate is good, instead of just in your last X games, as I see you have an overall 52% winrate which isn't anything special).

I was placed gold 5 this season I believe, and skipped gold 4 and gold 2 with 'only' a 61% overall winrate (may have been slightly higher since I've since played enough to get back in plat).

I have a smurf that's on 66% winrate so in 3s and it was placed in B5 and skipped from B4 to BII. So I say the overall winrate needs to be at least 60% or higher for you to get a division skip. Where you are at right now is a Win Ratio of 52% according to Op.gg so you've got a bit to go.

Hi, in game name is LynchKnot my win rate should be about 51%. I skipped bronze 4 to bronze 2 a few days ago. Win rate has little to do with it. It definitely is a factor though.

You'll notice when you're close to a division skip when you start getting about 25ish LP per win and only losing around 15-16 LP per loss.

That's the Gains/losses i've always gotten. yet I haven't skipped any divisions. Though, to be fair, i started B5 this season (didn't really play ranked at all last season. only did placements and that's it, just like previous years). So i couldn't skip to S4. But when i went into s5 series, i didn't skip to s3. And i didn't skip to S2 from S4. From S5 up to S3 i was getting roughly 24-28 LP per win, and losing only 12 at max. I've been told previously that it's based on wins. My friend told me he skipped from G5 to G3 by winning every game in that division, including his series.
