How do you stop a rengar once he gets a couple of kills?

This is not me saying rengar is OP I think he is a balanced champion that I am legitimately asking for advice on.

Once rengar gets a couple of kills he always seems to be able to basically instakill me from stealth (I usually play squishy AP mids). I build zhonyas but it usually just prolongs the fact that he is already on top of me ready to burst me down. Buying pink wards is great but at the point seeing him about to jump on me doesn't really stop him from doing it.

Any help on this?

best way to stop a champ is with cc like a stun or a snare you could also pick azir or Anivia and put a wall in front of them and they will be stopped right ahead

I wonder if Rengar can auto-attack jump over Azir's wall while in bushes.

If he is building damage just stay in a group dont wonder away from team. 1 CC and you can burst him down easily.

well its pretty simple. if rengar pops his ult, he gains vision on all enemy champions in a radius basically like pantheons ult. this means, hiding in bushes or ANYTHING doesnt help as he has truesight on all champs. also, his damage is basically instant, so if you let him jump for free, there is no counterplay ANYMORE. tho before that, there is plenty.

what you can do to protect yourself (not just from a fed rengar, because even if they are behind they oneshot you at a certain point and the more behind they are, the more they HAVE TO try it):

  1. carry a pinkward at all times (pinkward totem is not worth it. buy new pinkwards all the time. also, red sweeper doesnt work nearly as good as it has only 600 range truesight while pinkward has 1000)

  2. group with your team. never be alone. if he is stronger than you, he might kill you even when you can see him. try to be in places where you allready have good ward coverage and dont be anywhere for no reason. if you want to push out a lane, dont go there alone. go with at least one other damage dealer and one champion who has cc. this is a teamgame, no need to be solo farming after some point.

  3. get really good ward coverage. you are ap mid and you are behind and your damage is low? buy more wards. a big part of the enemies power is in his vision game. if you buy 5 wards, it might give you more fighting power than buying a third or fourth damage item. buy wards. always. also, dont ever go facecheck bushes to place a ward as a squishy or alone in general. go together to ward places, scout ahead with skillshots. set up vision around an area, even if its just a lane you want to farm/push or a jungle you want to clear. this is a general advice, but mandatory against rengar.

  4. the pinkward from point 1. if you place it once you see the exclamation mark over your head, its MUCH too late. you will be made aware of his presence once he is in 1250 range of you while a pinkward has 1000 truesight. this means, you will most likely lose one second due to your reaction time and then another second to realize where exactly he is coming from even when your pinkward is down. as he is moving at 500+ speed, it takes him about 1.5 seconds from exclamation mark to jump.

THIS MEANS you have to put down the pinkward FIRST. to let it not go to waste, place it at an area you want to fortify, like around dragon, baron, an enemy tower, the middle of a lane etc. then, just sit there with your team. basically, there is always something to group for and to put pressure on. just find these spots and go for them with wards to get money. a full assassin rengar can only make you get less money, but he cant beat you in a teamfight where you have vision on him. this means, as long as you find ways to get money for your team, he is effectively losing the game for his team.

  1. i know even if you read this guide, your team wont. this means if your marksman goes to farm a lane, STAY WITH HIM even if you take no farm and just waste your time. do you rather want to waste some time where you dont get money but get money for your team or get zero money for the team and feed the enemy more? pretty simple. protect your allies from their own retardness, not by words but by action. carry a pinkward, sit behind your carries in about two flashes distance with a pinkward, preferably in a brush, and wait for them to go whereever they would be safer. in this case, drop the pinkward between him and you as soon as you see the exclamationmark while moving towards your ally. since you are not focused on anything else but protecting him, you should be fast enough to react in time.

if you sit in a brush, he still gains vision on you but since you sit behind your ally and his vision range is limited aswell as his skill to collect information ASWELL as his TIME to decide weither to go for it or not, he might either waste his ultimate in the attempt or still go for it and die, giving you gold and time to come back or snowball on him.

also, if you want to fortify an area, place a pinkward in brushes preferably, as he is not given vision on it and thus doesnt know he is seen. so he might jump in in a way he would never do if he was aware of being spotted.

just think to yourself what he wants to do: he wants to sit somewhere and assassinate some noob. good. as long as he is trying to do that, he isnt getting any gold either. this means if you get SOME gold and he gets none, its comeback money.

these are very general tips on how to beat assassin rengars but they can also be applied on how to beat any champion or player who wants to assassinate or gank your allies. sit behind them, be patient and countergank. in this rengar case, measures must be as extreme as the danger, but in general you should have a basic idea of WHEN to start sitting somewhere and when to apply pressure / get money.

and always put things in perspective: over the course of the game, wards at a cost of about 1500 gold will essentially not only grant you sweet vision, but also remove a very dangerous, gamedeciding ultimate.

The same way you stop any fed assassin.

If you're squishy, stick with a champion with strong CC or shields or heals. Don't run around on your own and expect not to get jumped on. You dying a lot is literally their win condition.

If you aren't squishy, stick with the champions you need to protect and defend against that fed assassin's split push, because you're the only one who can fight him reasonably under turret.
