Should be an option to abort a game in champ select with at least 4 votes on one team

Dedrius··38 votes·2,462 views

It is really annoying to have to dodge games from people saying they are going to AFK at the start because they didn't get their lane or don't like the ban choices. If 4 out of 5 people on a team think it would be better to join a different queue they should be able to vote that way and basically dodge without losing LP. It would be way better to have this system rather than having a toxic team or toxic players for 35 minutes.

Would people try to abuse this system? Probably, but if there was say, an hour timer for players who vote to disband the game, no one will constantly vote to dodge games just based on the team comps.

Or give us a free dodge Rito, whichever you prefer.

But then you'll want a system in place to make sure you don't get matched with them again, right? So then this becomes a utility to lolking your team mates, you see a play who is on a tilt, you tell your entire team he's on a tilt and get the dodge. Match making and selection already takes a while. Another layer of complexity won't solve the problem, it will just create new ones.

I wish everyone playing this game had a brain like you. This same thread with this same tone was a hot topic last year, the only difference is you weren't there being a genius.

On Topic: I said it last year and I'll say it now, this system will never happen. Just like Arliden said, it won't solve the problem, just create new ones.

The more complex you make something, the more "REAL" players you'll get. There are so many trolls are league because its too simple, If they made it complicated to get in a match that means only people who are cooperative can get into a match.

The point of a troll or toxic player is to waste YOUR time, so if we waste their time then it will be no longer rewarding to troll because it is not time efficient.

But, I don't agree with the solution OP said.

"I didn't get the lane I want, everyone vote yes to join a different team".

"Vote to join a different team or I will afk".

Didn't solve the problem, just added another layer to it. The same players that are saying they will afk if they don't get their lane will continue to be that way. The best way to counter that problem is to be a team player and fill. Maybe next game you'll get your desired lane. Encourage team mates to be just as good of sports and you'll have a better experience overall.

But those players will not be fill players and I would rather have the option to get out of one bad queue rather than be trapped in a game for 20 minutes.

I spent two whole years (almost 3 seasons) filling in blind pick and draft in order to get mid lane.

The amount of times this happened I can count on one hand.

I learned to be a really good jungler and support at the cost of entirely losing the ability to play the lane I want to play without going into team builder and bullying 4 other randoms.

There are ways around both problems but I just wanted to remind you that you're being a little naieve about this.

Kind of does. You don't have to dodge and lose LP and time.

But if you think about it, if they're going to act that way in the first place, they already have the toxicity of a player who will end up raging in the game and feeding because one team mate didn't ward something, or whatnot. If they start demanding a vote for a different team, I'd do it so I didn't have to deal with an issue coming up after I was already in the game with them.

This sounds solid to me. I like the idea. Like say, my team wants to pick Sona? I know that's already a lost hope and an insta-loss. Support Shaco is what you wanna do? This isn't season 1. Evelynn in the mid lane your thing? She's barely even still a jungler, let alone an AP champ. I'd rather just disband it right then and there. I don't want to have to deal with these kinds of obvious trolls, they're all guaranteed feeders that will just blame you and bombard your team with profanities all game.

All I can say is learn to get along with people or go play bots.

How do you get along with "YOU RETARD YOU BANNED FIZZ I WAS GONNA PLAY FIZZ OK I TROLL NOW GGGGGGGGG" -> picks Rammus with revive teleport

MugyvrNinja2 votes

don't ban fizz then....?

Mellori1 votes

Some people don't say they're going to play a certain champ until they've already been banned just to be a pain in the ass. I've had people wait until I've banned someone then go "Wow, I was gonna play them. Looks like I'm dodging. (Insert long string of obscenities here)" and it's one of the most frustrating things about being first pick.

Terff2 votes

Then people would also vote to dodge for unconventional picks like urgot, or AP Varus, or Taric top.

Llanite2 votes

There are 10 people involved, why do you think it's fair to have a game aborted with just 3-4 votes?

Dedrius1 votes

Well it wouldn't be very possible to have a vote with say 8 or more to pass because you cannot communicate with the other team about why you wish to abort the game.

Rei Tenshi2 votes

Will never happen because Riot would rather cater to the 1000 trolls instead of the 900,000 normal players.

"Oh, you play TF jungle? K, all vote yes or report."

"You picked Poppy? All vote yes or I troll".

"God, Fizz, my counter, all vote yes or it's freelose"

SO. MANY. FLAWS.

(Oh and what about premades and DuoQ?)

just a heads up if you don't like your team for any reason you can click the X in the corner. this allows you to leave the game. if you're in ranked you lose 5 lp which is insignificant compared to the 45 minutes wasted and 20 lp loss.

Dedrius1 votes

Yeah but after having to do it once the next time it is like -15 or more LP and a long wait time so it is almost better to deal with the trolls and have a terribly unfun game and hope for a miracle rather than just give away the LP.

SexyTaylorSwift2 votes

An hour timer for voting to disband? I would rather play a 30 min game and lose personally lol. I shouldn't be punished because last pick auto locks mid, even though someone already picked it.

Dedrius1 votes

I would much rather be able to take an hour and do something else rather than have to play a very annoying and not fun game for 30 minutes, but this system would give you the option to pick if you would rather play the game and lose or just wait so you are really losing nothing.

Classic tactical trolling. They are trying to get you to dodge for them. Next time, call their bluff.

Back when dodging in ranked had a 30 minute time penalty, but no elo loss, high elo was a dodge chicken nightmare. I often would pick champions in 5 lobbies before playing a game, and of course whoever dodged the game did it with one second left on the clock.

I don't think any time penalty will be large enough to dissuade players from dodging on its own. At least not in high elo. People are very willing to go to extremes to protect their rank.

Or give us a free dodge Rito, whichever you prefer.

Paradoxically, a free dodge leads to more ranked trolling. People mostly troll in ranked in order to get someone on their team to dodge for them, so they don't need to take the penalty themselves. If you give out a free dodge, many more people will be willing to dodge, and that will increase the success rate of trolling.

I agree with the fact that some people are just trying to get me to dodge, but the fact that if I don't there is a chance that I will be trapped in a 4v5 for 20 minutes does not seem worth the risk. Especially for Plat V where everyone just trolls it is hard to just say "I don't believe this person will actually troll" when that is all low plat is.

ImHerVoice1 votes

i've rarely had an afk. Instead i get people who are shit at their role they so called "main" I think i'd rather 4v5 than 4v6 but thats just my honest opinion.

Mindspeaker1 votes

no would be abused for many other reasons.

BaIIsOfSteeI1 votes

I think it would promote toxicity, not limit it. Somebody who is last pick wants a new queue, but doesn't want to dodge. The other four won't vote that way just because that guy is last pick. So the solution is to be as annoying as possible to encourage the rest of the team to do what you want.

Dedrius1 votes

But that happens now, I don't know about you but I would rather have an opportunity to dodge a queue where someone says "give me mid fizz or feed" and hope for a better team next time rather than having that same person and no real answer other than call his bluff.

BrutalCabbage1 votes

It would allow teams with unfavorable matchups and inadequate comps to dodge games they don't think they will win. Pretty much the same reason promo dodges count as a loss. This idea is just bad and will never be implemented... even though toxicity in champ select is a major issue.

kanacho1 votes

Good idea with the timer. Maybe sort of like how ARAM rerolls work, playing a certain number of games without a disband vote will replenish your disband vote. Should make it have a longer cooldown. Maybe like 5 games or so (win or lose). The thing is, that a single player can use it too often (even on hour CD), then someone else can use their's to disband the game and thus force quits would be spammed whenever a team gets counter-picked... Needs to have a long CD so that not everyone is willing to just dish out their disband or else it could cause problems for ranked and make a game too long to create.

Dedrius1 votes

I more meant a timer on rejoining a queue, so people would be less likely to disband the one they are in just from comps alone.

Mellori1 votes

I'd rather it be 3 votes if this was put in place, because what about duo queue players? Since you mentioned losing LP, you're talking about ranked.

If you've got a duo pair, chances are if Player A and B are queued together, and Player A says he's going to feed because he didn't get his lane and his buddy Player B is anything like Player A, then Player B isn't going to vote to go to a new queue if they intend on being jerks about their games.

I had a game a while back (ranked, even) where two people wanted to lane together, yet Support is my thing and that's all I'm confident to do in ranked at this point in time. These two guys proceeded to roam around and mess up our Jungler's... jungling? together as Mundo and Zed. We had no mid lane, and I was playing Sona alone on bot lane. Eventually the jungler left because of frustration, leaving me and our top lane Irelia to try and go 2 v 5 all while Mundo and Zed are walking back and forth from jungle to base doing nothing to be productive, and rambling on about how if we paid them RP they'd carry the game and carry us (Irelia and I) to Platinum rank.

Now, if there would have been a voting option to kick these two out at the champ select and it was 4 votes, one of those guys would have stuck up for the other and it would have been a 3 v 2 vote.

I can see where your idea is going for this, but it does need some work.

Dedrius1 votes

I feel like this could work in the opposite direction with a duo as well if you only needed 3 votes, with them only needing to sway one more person to be able to disband the lobby.

Mellori1 votes

But if said duo was being toxic in the champ select, wouldn't you wanna leave?
