I love how some West Coast players used to say that there is no difference between 100 and 30 ping

But now they are freaking out about the "unplayable" 50-55 ping that they will now have.

Serves them right. 30 ping players laughing at east coast "gg uninstall learn 2 land skillshots"

An even playing field is better for everyone. Some are just angry because they are about to lose an unfair advantage.

As a West coaster, I cannot understand why everyone is being so selfish.

If you think 50-55 ping is unplayable, then why aren't you concerned about East coasters who constantly have ping like 90 or 100 on a daily basis?

They're more worried about losing their advantage than getting an even playing field.

I saw someone complaining that they would have 40 ping after the move. I have more than twice that on a good day.

I didn't realize how much latency I was getting with 100 ping until I played on LAN with 40. The difference was really noticeable. Don't get me wrong, I can still play and win games with 100 ping, but it's definitely a disadvantage. It can mean the difference between flashing an ultimate or landing a clutch shockwave.

If we could get most players on a similar average ping, that would be the best. I don't think high ping is fun at all, so I definitely wouldn't wish that on my west coast friends.

Uh.... 300 ping is well playable.

GREETINGS FROM EUROPE!!!

As a west coast player, I'm looking forward to the extra 0.02 seconds of ping so I can finally say with experience that it doesn't make a difference. I'm also looking forward to the disappointment from east coast players when they realize it wasn't the ping that was holding them back.

Where are they freaking out? I just see people saying they are.

I don't really care about the server issue, but this really doesn't belong on the memes and games section.

I dont get why everyone is freaking out or having 100ms ping.

I've always had ~50-60ms and I live in central Canada and shit routes to Toronto before going anywhere into the US.

My connection travels twice as far as any American and I play just fine.

So lul at anyone with +100ms ping in the US.

Living in a pretty rural area in FL, I get 120 ping at best and I think it's fine, I've even played games with my ping fluctuating between 400+ back down to 120. If I'm able to play decently in those conditions, I don't think it's fair for people to be claiming that 50-55 ping is unplayable.

west coast nerds are about to get their ginys slammed and jammed welcome to the space jam btches

As a west coaster who's never gotten better than 200 ping outside of 2:00 AM games, where it's 30 at best, I can safely say this;

"I can WIN games in ranked with 120 ping easily."

I live in the Caribbean and I deal with 150-300 ping on NA. I don't really complain.

njdunkin18/8/2015, 6:22:02 PM1 votes

50, 55 ping is nothing. Living off of a 1.5 download speed with consistent 315+ ping..these people have no idea :p

Who is saying that 50-55 ping is unplayable? I live in CA, and my current ping is 40. After this change, it's going to be an average of 70-120, which isn't unplayable, but it will be difficult to get used to. Riot isn't really addressing the issue though, they're just moving the problem that East coast had to the West coast.

Varijake8/8/2015, 10:18:40 PM1 votes

TBH they should create an East Coast server and just keep the current server on the West Coast and just rename it.

Manwalrus8/9/2015, 1:45:02 AM1 votes

This guy is my favorite: "My ping is already above 40 (which is annoyingly high in my mind) and I'm on the west coast. Does the "~30ms" mean that my ping is going to rise to 70 or drop to around 30? If its the former i'm out. I would much rather have 2 NA servers than an unplayable experience."

completely full of shit.

I live in Ohio, so I really benefit from this. I play on a fiber optic connection (which is the state of the art kind of connection, if you didn't know) and my laptop is a good laptop. It's frustrating when you are the single player getting lagged out, especially when you know the problem is not on your end. I feel for the western players that will have 30 more units of ping, but there's nothing worse than to enter a game deciding team fight and suddenly be unable to do anything. If I lose, I don't want to lose because I couldn't actually play during the moment of truth (and to cover all loopholes, I don't mean that there was too much CC). I want to lose because the other team beat me in a fair fight. The only advantage I want my opponent to have is their own skill (runes, masteries, and counter picks notwithstanding). Living in a certain state should not be why anyone wins.

I don't quite understand why people QQ about ping so much. I played TF2 with over 200 ping and still crushed people with scout.
