An even playing field is better for everyone. Some are just angry because they are about to lose an unfair advantage.

I live in Hawaii, and I usually get 90 ping if everything is stable, though sometimes it'll go to 200 ping. But I can handle that. I don't like it, but I can handle it.

But with the change, I'll be stuck around 130 if I'm lucky, and it'll probably go to 240 ping. I definitely won't quit playing League, but it'll definitely suck.

As a West coaster, I cannot understand why everyone is being so selfish.

If you think 50-55 ping is unplayable, then why aren't you concerned about East coasters who constantly have ping like 90 or 100 on a daily basis?

They're more worried about losing their advantage than getting an even playing field.

I didn't realize how much latency I was getting with 100 ping until I played on LAN with 40. The difference was really noticeable. Don't get me wrong, I can still play and win games with 100 ping, but it's definitely a disadvantage. It can mean the difference between flashing an ultimate or landing a clutch shockwave.

If we could get most players on a similar average ping, that would be the best. I don't think high ping is fun at all, so I definitely wouldn't wish that on my west coast friends.

There were a lot of replies on both boards and reddit about the announcement with some people going as far as saying they would no longer play if they are forced to play on unplayable 50 ping.

As a west coast player, I'm looking forward to the extra 0.02 seconds of ping so I can finally say with experience that it doesn't make a difference. I'm also looking forward to the disappointment from east coast players when they realize it wasn't the ping that was holding them back.

I've always had ~50-60ms and I live in central Canada and shit routes to Toronto before going anywhere into the US.

My connection travels twice as far as any American and I play just fine.

So lul at anyone with +100ms ping in the US.

Living in a pretty rural area in FL, I get 120 ping at best and I think it's fine, I've even played games with my ping fluctuating between 400+ back down to 120. If I'm able to play decently in those conditions, I don't think it's fair for people to be claiming that 50-55 ping is unplayable.

After this change, it's going to be an average of 70-120, which isn't unplayable, but it will be difficult to get used to. Riot isn't really addressing the issue though, they're just moving the problem that East coast had to the West coast.

That could be a problem with your internet, average ping in CA is usually way lower than 40 and should only be around 50-55 when the server moves.

They aren't moving the problem they are just making it a more average 50-55 ping for everyone rather than 20-30 west coast and 80-100 east coast.

TWC must not be that good then x.x but from what i've seen from everyone, east coasters are getting about 20 or 30 ping, and west coasters are getting about 70.

Currently its the opposite and with the server move it will be pretty much 50-55 ping for bot east coast and west coast.

There is a much smaller player base in 2 states compared to an entire portion of North America.

They can't make everyone has 20 ping, so what they see as the best option is to try to give the highest amount of players an average level of ping.

I put it specifically in the "memes and games" section because it was meant to be a joke, because for a long time some west coast players have said that there is no difference between 100 ping that east coast players get and the 20-30 ping that west coast players get, but now that the ping is increasing for those west coast players (still not to the extent that east coast players have had) they are up in arms about it. Clearly you didn't understand the context and understand that it was a joke.

They may be increasing the problem for a small minority of players, but they are fixing the problem for a much larger portion. Although it should not be the best solution and they should continue to work on this issue so all players can have an equal opportunity on this Server, it is something that will even out the ping for many more players than there are currently.

Clearly you need to stray away from the boards if you are so easily angered by petty bullshit like this, because that is basically all that the boards are. There is no reason to get angry about something so unimportant like this post, if you don't like the content or don't see it as a funny joke then don't read any further, or downvote it and move on.

Not true. People on the East Coast were playing against people with sub 30 ping even sub 20 ping. While they had 100+ ping. That's a huge disadvantage. People on the West Coast will no how, what, 60? 70 ping maybe? East coast will have about 30-50 depending on location north and south. They are reducing the advantage had by EVERYONE. Not just moving the advantage. East and West will be a lot more even.

Your internet is probably not the best if you are getting 120 ping to Chicago.

I live in Ohio, so I really benefit from this. I play on a fiber optic connection (which is the state of the art kind of connection, if you didn't know) and my laptop is a good laptop. It's frustrating when you are the single player getting lagged out, especially when you know the problem is not on your end. I feel for the western players that will have 30 more units of ping, but there's nothing worse than to enter a game deciding team fight and suddenly be unable to do anything. If I lose, I don't want to lose because I couldn't actually play during the moment of truth (and to cover all loopholes, I don't mean that there was too much CC). I want to lose because the other team beat me in a fair fight. The only advantage I want my opponent to have is their own skill (runes, masteries, and counter picks notwithstanding). Living in a certain state should not be why anyone wins.
