Is Heimers turrets suppose to attack you when you get close?

I thought they only focus you when his spells/autoattack hits you.

it focuses the target Heimer is basic attacking.

if he isn't marking a target with his basic attacks then they will just attack what is closest i think.

They always seem to switch target to me when I go near to kill them without heimer touching me, so im trying to see if this is how its suppose to be.
