The Serpent Shuffle; FCQ Cassiopeia? Q vs. E?

I have been looking online, watching some videos and investigating all I can about Cassiopeia mid... but I found that unlike the other mids I play semi-commonly; No one builds Frost Queen's Claim on her.

This is very mind boggling since FCQ almost completes her CDR cap, protects her from being ganked (She is INCREDIBLY easily to gank) and gives her a great deal of gold given her 2 DoT skills.

http://champion.gg/champion/Cassiopeia States that leveling E first has the best chance of success.... but also states that Deathfire Touch has a higher chance of success... I have no idea why this is and am uncertain.

Your thoughts , good sirs?

Played Cassiopeia, got slaughtered .... well , I ended like 6-6-10 and did most damage, but that only sounds impressive, I horribly lost my lane and did very poorly overall.

I laned against a Mid Ezreal... he outranged me by a lot. He outbursted me/outdamaged me by a lot. He was a lot harder to gank (Obviously) and was all around more useful to his team. I feel I could have done a LOT better if I was Morgana.

Cassiopeia's range is so incredibly low for a character that has no reliable form of disabling power. Morg at least has a snare, a slow and a potential stun. Cass has a potential stun that only works if the enemy is very bad... and it is telegraphed so much it's ridiculous.

Basically I hate Cassiopeia. I wish her range were longer... I'd rather have 5%/10%/30% increased range on her skills instead of increased AP.

You should always maximize E first to get the greatest amount of damage. Frost Queen is becoming increasingly popular with mid lane mages, and as a result will probably see a nerf in the near future. The thing is that the CDR can end up being pretty useless, as your passive will give you plenty of CDR with enough stacks. Frost Queen is a good item for AP supports like Lux and Karma, but in the end you are wasting an ability slot where you can get an item for more AP and/or more defense.

Tear is very necessary on Cass for mana management. It also builds into a super efficient high AP item, with defenses, in Seraph's Embrace, so FQC just doesn't fit a slot on her.

She's basically AP urgot, so she needs to max E first as the damage from E spam far and away outstrips any other form of damage she can apply. Basically think of her as AP urgot. Land an AoE patch then use an un-dodgeable spam ability that is either more than the enemy can withstand, or you die.

DFT outdamages thunderlords if you can maintain reapplication, which Cass can.
