Riot, your match making is fucked up.

Riot,

I sincerely hate you and your match making in ranked. I just lost two games in a row because 1) Warwick was being a troll and wouldn't communicate and would not gank, kept split pushing while all 5 enemy members are pushing our mid lane base, and 2) my second game we had a troll Jax who auto locked instead of going support and took Nidalee's top lane, who then had to switch to support and ended up being afk, and then Jax started to feed. He would run into a 4 v 1 and die, then blame me or someone else for not helping. I tried to carry along with Yi but we had no way to win. I've gotten up to almost being able to get into a series in Bronze 5 over twice in a row now then lose 5 games in a row because you put me in awful matches. I'm now back to fucking 0 points. I started in Bronze 2 then dropped all the way to Bronze 5 all because I kept being put into matches with TROLLS, AFKERS, and overall bad players. So, I push you, Riot, I CHALLENGE YOU, to FIX your stupid match making system.

Sincerely,

A Seriously Frustrated Summoner

Kinda reaching the end of my tether with peoples ignorance. Read your post. "One person in X games ruined my experience." What the actual does this have ANYTHING to do with matchmaking?

Matchmaking is straight up numbers - they don't even look at the lane choices of those people, the WL ratio, it's just MMR soup and you get matched. That's the most fair way to do it.

I challenge YOU OP, since matchmaking is bad, what's your suggestion to fix it?

Clown Apocalypse3 votes

It has plenty to do with matchmaking. The system tries to keep you around 50% win rate. Everyone knows this. So when you start climbing over that in any given period they put you in games you are picked to lose. So the system literally picks a team for you that you aren't likely to win with. IF that isn't a problem with matchmaking I dunno what is.

Weird, I've won 75% of my last 20 games... can you point to which ones I was rigged to lose? There are some games you cannot carry, a Kalista feeding all game in bot last night, nothing I can do. But I don't come to the boards and scream "OMG SHITE MATCHMAKING Y U KALISTA ME TEAM RITO?" - everyone has bad games. Make the most of the games you can win, you'll climb. I started Bronze V this season, on a hot streak heading for Silver 1, it's just a matter of finding a champ you can carry with and making a case to your team on why they should let you carry the game.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I rarely win more than a couple in a row because I have more than one player feeding or trolling, and it's hard to "make the most of your wins." I've won 40 games out of 123 this season. Shows you that I get put into awful matches because even if my MMR sucks I'm still a GOOD player for my MMR, and I am put in the same MMR matches with people who are much more unskilled than I am.

actually it does. What you are looking for is not to get better. What you want is echo chamber that is going to agree with you. The problem is that your wrong.

Anyone that is Gold and higher will see it. Some silvers and bronze players will too. Those silvers and bronze players will be the ones to advance.

actual no you do not. You think everyone else is wrong and that you are right. When your performance proves other wise. You go around thinking how great you are when you are playing at the bottom 10%(being generous there).

When people tell you are wrong, your first response is no and reported. None of this is attitude of a person looking to advance. This whole thread shows how petty of a person you are. Instead of listening to what your mistakes were you blindly say they were right.

You will never get out of bronze the way you are.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

They are wrong, not me. My performance shows that I am right. I am not petty. I do listen to the mistakes that I know are true. If they aren't they are disregarded. So stop being a rude ass. And I am not in the bottom 10 percent, that is just rude. I'm done with you. Good-bye.

I've won like 75% of my last 20 games too....but I've played like 600. To further invalidate your argument, your cumulative win rate is like 54%. I rest my case. I think you'd be hard pressed to show me someone with over 100 games played and a 75% win rate. Hell I'm looking at a platinums profile right now and he's not even over 50%.

No, you deluded pessimist. Yes the system attempts to give you a 50% chance to win any given game. If you start to win more than that, the system adjusts your MMR up, which paires you with more skilled opponents. The system is not out to get you. It is just a statistics engine, not a tool to keep you down.

Clown Apocalypse2 votes

So when they pair you with 3 people on losing streaks that have been losing all morning, and you have been winning the past 2 days they aren't trying to make you lose at all. When you rank up and somehow your teams get worse than the teams you had at lower levels....that's all pessimism. I've got like 600 ranked games played this season. And I've been over 50% all season. I get paired with people like you. With like 30 games and a 40% win rate who haven't even played enough to have a main this season yet. Just because my opponents become more skilled doesn't mean my team should devolve into mouth breathing knuckledraggers.

I'm not losing because I cant perform at the level I'm playing at, I'm losing because the people they pair me with got no work,or have shit internet, or shit computers, or don't know how to pick teams, and refuse to cooperate. I played a game yesterday where EVERYONE on the other team was higher ranked than me AND my team. I won that game. and got 17 measley ass points for beating 3 silvers . When I lose? I lose like 25 points. I know people that are gold and haven't been over 50% all season. Their matchmaking and ranking system is a load of shit and your opinion on the matter wont convince me otherwise.

BluePolarizer3 votes

The system will purposely match you with people on losing streaks and with lower MMR than your opponents if you start losing off a winning streak. There's no way to explain the multiple times that I've lost twice after a long winning streak, then get matched with ragers and AFKs who turn out to be also losing multiple times in a row. I record the statistics and patterns, and even though ppl say it isn't the system trying to schedule you to lose, I think it is, by putting ppl of lower MMR and with losing streaks on your team.

No, it is not. People have off games and make mistakes. If you go into a game expecting to get trolled by your teammates, you will interpret their mistakes as attempts to troll you. Riot didn't design their system to trick you or punish you for wins. If you win more, they system matches you with increasingly skilled opponents until your wins balance out at 50%. Anything else is people being imperfect.

Clown Apocalypse2 votes

people have of games and make mistakes but the system should learn to tell who is on a losing streak and maybe not put them in peoples promo games or games that might get them demoted. Giving you harder opponents is stupid if they don't make your teammates better as well. That is clearly putting you at a disadvantage. And clearly matchmaking related. If they want your wins to balance at 50% they have to throw you in games you have little hope of winning. Period. You cant have it both ways.

Your opponents and teammates are all judged on MMR. Each player on a team is chosen to be within 1 or 2 standard deviations or MMR away from each other to build a balanced team. Stop trying to make the system out to be the problem and instead, focus on improving the consistency of your play. You cannot change the matchmaking system or how your teammates play. Sometimes people do badly and give up a lot of kills or make bad choices, but that doesn't mean they do it everygame.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

My play is really good right now, the best it's ever been, so I don't need "to focus on improving my consistency of play." My MMR might sucks but I'm a good player, so I'm still put into matches with people who have the same MMR but are much more unskilled than I am. I lose more games than I win. That is unfair match making.

So, everyone in your MMR is "much more unskilled" than you are, but you are unable to consistently win games? I'm sorry, but that logic doesn't make sense.

Looking at your op.gg stats, you need to work on your CS. Your average CS in Ranked games struggles to break 100 in 40+ minute games. In a 40+ minute game, you should be aiming for 350+ CS at least (400+ would be better). That alone will help you to get out of bronze. Your KDA is nice, so I think if you can shore up your CS numbers, you'll see a nice jump in rating.

Clown Apocalypse2 votes

lmfao..dude you are bronze 1 and your history is worse than his. Follow your own advice. Your kda is shit with everyone you play besides bard and even that's mediocre.

Lol you went to his history and started checking his stats first. I'm checking yours. You have 30 ranked games played. Your average over the last 20 is 4.6/ 4.9/12.3, mostly with characters entirely capable of carrying. You have 30 ranked games. 30. I also don't see a game with over 200 farm in your history. Im just pointing out the fact that you aren't much better than the person you are giving advice to. In fact you don't even follow your own advice. and your win rate is 43 %. Im just pointing out that your credibility in this argument is minimal. I coulda respected your difference of opinion, but if we are going to break down profiles I'd rather have mr b5 on my team than you at b1.

Nybx4life2 votes

Actually, it does make an example of Catch a Fade's point; your statistics are worse than his, yet you're ranked higher. While it's all well and good to practice and improve your play, when you have players who, on average, perform worse than you but has a higher rank, it says something of the ranked/matchmaking system that more or less grades people's performance.

BluePolarizer1 votes

2 standard deviations away is HUGE.

2 standard deviations means that your team is 60% worse than the other team.

100-200 points of MMR isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. 1 or two rankings, which seems to be the spread of people pulling into my ranked games.

Also, since the Ranking is very fluid and people's decision making can vary from game to game, I wouldn't put too much stock into what ranking people on your team/enemy team are. Too many other variables.

BluePolarizer1 votes

just from statistics and assuming a normal distribution of skill in your league, a 1 standard deviation of MMR between you and your team means that if both teams were equal, you had 50/50, but now its 67/33 against you.

That is to say, this is a bigger difference in win chance than if your team was Ryze Poppy Urgot Lucian Alistar vs. a team of Irelia Sejuani Katarina Jinx Janna .

I don't think so. Maybe that is true for the Elo system and Chess, but there are WAAAAAAY too many variables in LoL for it to be so cut and dry.

Just because a team has Poppy on it doesn't make it an auto loss. Replace Poppy with Rek'Sai and Kat with Kass and you have two LCS team comps.

BluePolarizer2 votes

So a team with an average of 45% win rate is just as good as a team of champs with an average of 55% win rate?

Besides, a 100 MMR difference is even bigger.

Win Rate is not a very good measurement of champion power level.

100 MMR is probably a division level. I have B1's. B2's, S4's, and S5's in my Ranked games. More Silver players as I have won more recently. The important part to note, though, is that I have never had a team of B2 vs S4's. It has always been a mix of divisions/ranking, that usually averages out to B1 or S5.

BluePolarizer1 votes

A division level is pretty big. It is 7-9 net wins. This gets especially big near critical points like the gold 1/plat 5 divide and the plat 1/diamond 5 divide, where skill increases per division are exponential, not linear. The difference between a bronze 1 and silver 5 is far smaller than the difference between a gold 1 and plat 5, or a plat 1 and diamond 5.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

It seems more like its to bring you down. Even if I win a couple in a row and my MMR goes up, I still get paired with unskilled people. It's not all unicorns and rainbows like in Silver or above.

Clown Apocalypse2 votes

I made it to silver last season and the people there were arguably worse than bronze. The fact that they weren't bronze anymore made most of them the most stubborn S.O.B.s you ever played with. Their judgement on anything couldn't be questioned.

ZeeDrakon2 votes

This is not how this works ... the system tries to keep you at 50% by raising your mmr when you win a lot, all that means is better enemies AND better teammates

Clown Apocalypse2 votes

So you are saying its just my imagination when my teammates are total idiots? When I kick ass all day and get a team without a clue that's just my imagination? When I main support and let the duo take bot lane and the support drops 11 wards in 35 minutes and cries the jungler is camping him, that's my imagination right? The 0 8 jungle nasus was my imagination as well? The yasuo top that fed I imagined also? No. Frequently the other team is better and your team is all a bunch of rejects. If they wanted to make it fair they would make you the weakest link against a better team and see if you can keep up. Not put you with 4 people with no clue and expect you to carry them against better competition.

I would rather personally be the weak link, than my team be the weak link I have to overcome.

BluePolarizer1 votes

no it doesn't. My teams post-winning streak consistently has ppl with multiple losses in a row and 50-100 MMR lower than the enemy team.

Akaterina4 votes

I dunno, I consistently get matched with team-mates in the 5-10 win range like myself, while enemies can be at 100 + wins.

Angry Monster3 votes

you are your own problem when it comes to ranked. Looking at your games you have a

thorn mail on diana but no zhonas.....

A support sej (bad idea) with no tank items.... you built only health

Iceborn on Dia with a ap build.....

taric wirh a sheen as a suport (and no sight stone)

anine with thorn but again no zhonas....

Where are you getting these builds from. Trust me on this, your biggest problem is not the match maker, it is you.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Dude, don't judge. A lot of those games were SURRENDERED early. I don't do zhonya's unless I need it and the thornmail was to counter a heavily fed Nasus. Support Sej is great and I do well. I do build tank on her but a lot of my games were surrendered early before I could buy any tank items. Iceborn was because I was going TANK Diana that time, to counter a heavily tank team. Taric game was cut short too, but I always get some damage while building sightstone. Again, Annie with thornmail to counter a fed AD person, and don't need zhonya's unless I'm playing like shit. So dude, think before you speak and don't judge.

Jrud3 votes

Try to take this as constructive criticism and not negative:

Thornmail wasn't the best item here for a few different reasons. Lets go through a Diana vs Nasus 1v1:

Diana's base HP (at lvl 18) without any HP items is 2119

30% of that is only 636 damage if nasus used ONLY auto attacks on you (including siphon strike), then that is all the damage you would have given him.

Now the calculation is a little more messy than that of course.

Thornmail does magic damage, and lets say he had around 100MR (with his base stats + the MR he bought + runes and masteries, that figure is generous), that cuts your damage literally in half (you can look it up)

636 / 2 = 318

Now nasus has 20% lifesteal due to his passive, which he will steal from your full HP pool, regardless of your armor level. The armor will slow the damage, but lifesteal will still work off of your full HP pool if he does the whole damage. So he will steal:

2119 * 0.2 = 423

Now we take the damage thornmail will do, and subtract the lifesteal, and get the final number for how much damage thornmail will do to nasus:

318 - 423 = -105

So he actually still steals HP from you even with thornmail because he has MR. Even if you bought item 3135 to negate his MR though, and you had bought item 3165 to reduce his lifesteal, nasus would do a belly laugh at 636 damage, the dog had probably close to 3K HP, and better nasus builds usually have 4-5K.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I agree, I could've gotten another item to defend against him but thornmail is my go-to. I had a bad game and was hard to focus with a troll Jax going in on a 4 v 1 and dying while trying to keep the others from split pushing. Maybe a Frozen Heart or other armor item would've done better with some MR.

Jrud1 votes

I did forget a little more of the math, since thornmail's armor effects the damage after the thornmail calculation, you do actually end up dealing around 100-200 to him with it rather than him still lifestealling, but I think you get the picture.

Thornmail is really best when you have lots of HP to reflect damage with, and a second armor item to negate damage with (best are gonna be item 3068 and item 3143 since they do both).

If you paired item 3075 & item 3143, that 200 ish damage you would have dealt to nasus with just thornmail, would have gone up to close to 1300.

BananaManWins2 votes

I agree, their matching system has some issues, I keep getting players that feed and dunno what to do

Cavemantero2 votes

This game pairs you with shitty players to get you to 50%. Its a proven observed fact. How is it that so many people at their promos (see DUNKEY quits LoL video) get paired with feeding fu*#tards CONSISTENTLY? The ranked system is completely broken in using the elo system and riot's 50% bs ideal.

I guarantee you there are players out there abusing this known fact that setup smurf accounts to feed at higher levels in order to keep good players out of their tiers.
