Im Watchin a High Elo Ekko go 1/5/3
His itemization is shit. Hes got morellos, sheen and sorc boots. This char is not op.

Wait... one player plays a champ badly, so that means the champion isn't OP? /mindblown
LeBlanc win rates are rarely above 50%, she must be all balanced too, right op?
Sejuani was only at 53% WR, why did they nerf her, she wasn't winning 100% of her games?
I saw a goat in the mountains. Therefore, all goats are from mountains.

Maybe I should say, I am watching another high elo ekko fail to carry his team. And since I have NEVER seen a high elo ekko carry very hard (even tho I am clearly looking for that) I am leaning towards his balanced nature.
In my experience, the only reason I am ever able to carry is because I play very passivly, almost like an adc (which I main) untill someone makes a mistake, stands next to my clone with low hp, or just allows themselves to get low in general.
I think that overpowered champions should be noted for their ability to FORCE the game. When I watch ekko, and when I play him, I notice that he is just taking advantage of situations and mistakes which can be denied to him more than any other playstyle.
When I have success in the jungle, it is because I am never invaded. When I have success in a teamfight, it is because of an isolated carry. BTW, leona wrecks ekko. He is a melee ranged carry. One of his highes dmg abilities, the blink, requires that he get into melee range. If he gets out due to ultimate, then fine he had to burn a 100 sec cooldown for his life and the 1 kill he got with his other abilities. Fine.
He cant even spamm his harrass like zed can. His mana issues are present at EVERY point in the game. His q costs 100 mana. He cannot build chalice. He shouldnt bother with tear (he will loose lane).
His early game is so weak that essentially, his presence on the rift is a buff to early game midlaners in general.
what makes you think those items are bad?
Just a point I'd like to say in response (not arguing) Morello synergises quite badly with Ekko. It doesn't add what he needs, the cdr and mana is nice, the passive if almost useful, but his damage will be significantly lower, his CD's are so big that the CDR won't make any difference in individual skirmishes (he will only be able to use 1 w, 1 e and MAYBE 2 Q's no matter how much CDR he gets) it's better to get more damage to make the most of his skills, then try to use them more often. The regen doesn't compensate for the mana costs, so not only does he not really get to use skills more often, but he still runs out of mana while doing it. An early lichbane or even better Ludens Echo, even Hourglass makes him SOOOO strong so quickly, something like Morrello is better to purchase late instead of early, because he has mana issues all game, and his CD's drop with levels so eventually it gives him more spam power (plus the unique passive of course) Think early game, Ekko has to engage and kind of take you out, the passive from morrello "rarely" helps because sustain champs will use their sustain after morrello is no longer in effect, as Ekko can't freely reapply it like say, Ahri for example.
Sorcerers shows is nice however, I still think about ionion boots because CDR is hard to build, but the magic pen on him is most effective. and Sheen is a core item on him, not having it is really stupid. I usually build it first, even if I don't complete it, it procs with AA's (cause of passive) and gives more mana, so it really helps him with sustain issues. While maintaining early game damage.

What?
What?
He isnt going to choose morrelos over a better dmg item like nlr. He might choose different boots if he thinks it is called for. I think it rarely will be since "the magic pen on him is most effective."
Yeah probably.. But his AoE + morrellos passive can come in handly vs the right team.
Yeah, but those same teams usually counter him anyway lol
(with spell vamp)
Other champs like Fiddle is another story

Thank you for your thoughts. I am laning very passively at the moment. It works very well if you manage your mana correctly and dont get ganked. It would work even better tho if he had more mana...or if his q didnt cost 100 mana..wow thats pretty high. Check my recent match toplane against another ekko. I think he was better than me but I won my lane anyway. Outfarmed hiim super hard and then a gank from shaco gave a kill. Was never able to pull off a roam to ziggs tho.
Yeah, if you're playing safe and focussing on farm, it helps, but "usually" Ekko is in a stronger spot through trading. Kinda like Kata, if Kata plays safe she usually falls behind unless she roams or gets good ganks, but if she keeps poking with that annoyingly safe and zero cost spells, she can get you into kill range and pressure you out, Ekko has a similar playstyle except he needs to fight a bit more since he lacks the mana to poke until you are low

I just take clarity and burn it asap so the cool-down is available sooner. Then I use crystal flask. This is how I stay in lane longer than all my opponents and win all of my lanes so far because I am actually not that good with ekko in lane yet. Thats my secret. It is really working. Yay for clarity I guess. Its about time for some summoner diversity.
I think you mean vs fiora or swain haha.
