My last games with Old Aatrox were oddly perfect
I tell this story because I felt that these last 4 games I had were perfect in a sense of a ritual that put Aatrox to rest.
At first, all I wanted to do was fight. Fight to the bitter end. I was met with facing Tryndamere, a melee top laner. It brought back memories of the bug where Aatrox kept repeating, "Tryndamere, my greatest creation." whenever he auto attacked Tryndamere. Nothing could replace the feeling of swinging the sword and slashing.
I had initially dreaded facing Quinn top, but at least it wasn't the Kennen. Quinn let herself get frozen out and chain tower dove because she didn't manage the wave properly, but the game lasted long from a fed Lucian, Kennen ults, and Morgana not using black shield on me.
I seriously dreaded Ornn. Fucking W hitbox was bullshit and I'm glad that got changed. I lost early trades, but eventually outplayed Ornn's W enough using Q and was able to splitpush later in the game. This game is when I realized how perfect my recent games were. I had beaten the melee top and the ranged top, now I had to beat the tank top.
After this game, there was an hour and a half left before the next patch. I had thought about what would be the next game, and the idea dawned on me: Fight Aatrox himself.
So, I went into champion select, was red side and the second pick down. The chances of facing Aatrox were slim to none as the only person who could pick him, besides myself, was their first pick. Maybe it was fate, maybe it wasn't, but perhaps something decided to meet my wishes, and that first pick from the enemy team was Aatrox.
So, I picked up my main, who was just afront of Aatrox, Kayle to fight him, face to face, even if I counterpicked myself. Though and early jungle skirmish came up and Aatrox got double buffs and 2 kills, so his lead meant I really never got a fair fight him with 1v1, as if he was out of my grasp. My team pushed through, in the end, leading me to defeat Aatrox.
With that, what seemed to be a parting ritual had come to a conclusion.
