I feel like spell binder doesn't last long enough considering it has a cooldown and requires stacks.

Am I the only that feel like a mere 4 seconds is not long enough considering the item needs to be both off of cooldown and a decent number of stacks to make use of the active?

It’s active gives you 100-200 AP and 30-60% movement speed for 4 seconds.

4 seconds is enough for any burst mage/assassin to get their combos off. And 100-200 (or 140-280 with deathcap) AP is INSANE. Especially if you get it first or second item, you’ll have 300 AP from one item early game. That’s nuts.

Have you actually played with the item? Most times you won't get 100 stacks, more like 20-30 stacks because its not easy to stack. On top of that, you have a 60 cooldown. I'm not saying the items doesn't have a lot of potential at 100 stacks, I'm saying the active is heavily gated for only 4 seconds of use.

60 seconds is short

It’s up for every all in fight. It will be up in every teamfight. It has a shorter cooldown than most ults. And, if you take ingenious hunter (I think it was named as such?) it can drop to a 36 second cooldown. It’s a VERY strong ability. And if anything, the ability for it to gain stacks from spellcasts makes up for the time when you aren’t using it when it’s off cooldown. In the case of someone like Casseiopeia or Karthus, you should easily reach close to 100 stacks by the time it’s off cooldown, and in the case of Champions like Kassadin or other assassins, it accomplishes its goal by giving you mobility and AP before you burst someone.

Do note that this item gives the most possible AP from a slot for 4 second. Giving 200-300 AP (or 280-420 with deathcap), making it the most slot efficient item in the game for those 4 seconds. And even when the active isn’t up t still gives 100 AP and 10% movespeed.

wait 100-200 ap from the active? it says only up to that amount and that's with 100 stacks but it is quite useful on karthus

Waiiiiiit a second. They changed it from the PBE.

so wait it would have gaven a base of 100ap without stacks? [sg-ahri-1]

Yeah activating it would give 100 AP even without stacks. With stacks it could reach 200. It appears they nerfed it on release.
