Even with poor attack animations, Lichbane and nashors tooth can help mages vs tanks.

Mages complain about not being able to deal with tanks but yet, you have those item 3100 item 3115 which can add massive ap scaling to any mage kit.

All it requires is that the mage commits to a few auto attacks in their spell rotation and I guarentee, you will have a much higher impact vs tanks expecially when combined with item 3135.

I've even tested it on Cassiopeia Karthus on the practice tool. Those items with a constant stream of auto attacks and spell rotation gave me atleast a 30% higher damage output than any other normal glass canon mage build. Enough to shred a tank if you can maintain the 1.5 spell blade intervals.

My point is, even with poor attack animations, item 3115 item 3100 can give mages the extra help they need against tanks.

You should at least consider it or test it in the practice tool if you don't believe me. I just wish riot would give us a rune or keystone that improved auto attack animations.

Funny how you mention two mages that have a lot of damaging spell uptime compared to others which have downtime after a combo. Cass and Karth have a lot of tank whittling in their kits already.

I think it's worth noting that Lich Bane should def be built before Nashor's Tooth. While the on hit, AP, and CDR are nice, the Attack Speed is some dead weight in itemisation. While the items synergize well together, depending on a champs core build and if you build an item or two depending on your enemies, Nashor may be worth less than another late game 5th or 6th item.

Well no. Nashor actually help lichbane in the build with the attack speed. It lets her auto attack after ever E where as with out nashors, she only auto attacks after every 2 E.

Now the more she can auto attack the quicker she can get reset lichbane spellblade intervals.

I've tested it on the practice tool. On a 4 second Q EEEEE combo, she can proc lichbane 2-3 time with nashors tooths, where as without it, she can only proc lichbane 1-2 in the same 4 seconds span. The 2 of them together gives an like extra 150% ap on 4 seconds

For Cass specifically Nashors may help a lot. I'm talking about generally speaking it may not help other mages so much.

Lich works on basically all mages. And its not like they are going to oneshot a tank, so if they can weave spells like Ahri. Mages have to change their playstyle vs tanks though where they dont just throwup spells on people, but actually use all their items.

lol right... and lets ignore they fact that "tanks" have enough damage to kill us in about 3 second...

Man Ive build this on Cass and I've shredded tanks just like an ADC. You don't have to believe me. Just try it on the practice tool is all I ask.

He'd have to be pretty ahead to do that with base damages alone.

Cassiopeia is good vs Tanks in general tanks to her E spam, Karthus auto animation is cancer and his Q E shred is good enough against tanks.

The only burst mage I can see building these items is Veigar.

item 3100 is situationally good on Lux. It suits her prefered play patterns rather nicely. The problem with trying to use item 3115 on most mages (there are exceptions, such as Orianna) is that Nashor's alone doesn't do enough to just a slot (deadweight AS). item 3100 is better in that it's usually at least a decent use of a slot in your build, but the problems here (and why it's only situational on Lux) is the range difference between abilities and basic attacks for many mages. Also, many mages don't like to stagger their spells (Veigar comes to mind as an example), so trying to take full advantage of item 3100 can sometimes end up working against you.

Edit: The best item to get versus tanks is obviously item 3135. Often, given the range problem with item 3100, I find that item 3285 often ends up doing more than item 3100 would.

Why not just buy item 3151 and item 3135 ? Especially on Cassiopeia and Karthus because they they have built in slows.
