Yet another % health champion

Does every champion really need something with this kind of damage now?

If you want a source of damage to be impactful to a tank, you have two options.

1: Make it deal a ton of raw damage. 2: Make it deal %HP damage.

Of course, if you make it deal a ton of raw damage, then it'll completely destroy squishies. (This is what most ADCs scale into, but that's the gist of their class in general.)

On the other hand, %HP damage lets it scale to the enemy's durability, providing consistent damage that doesn't nuke squishies instantly.

They mentioned why they do it. it's easier to balance is the jist of it

And it lets people be effective on every one. Rioters have stated the reason why %HP is becoming popular is not because "tank buster" but because "the same effectiveness on everyone"

ahh yes, that was the other reason, they wanted an attack to basically do the same no matter who it's cast on

I beg to differ. While yes it is a ratio damage, it is worse for squishy targets who do not have defensive items to combat it effectively. % health as physical or magic damage is negated somewhat on tankier champions who have armor and mr.

Its still more or less the same effectiveness. 24% max health is 24% max health no matter if its 24% of 690 or 9600

it's not worse to squishies.

you may feel it is but the maths is simple.

10% of hp is 10% of hp no matter the amount. while some of it might be negated from armor, that doesn't really change anything. league knows how to maths, even if you don't agree

Ratio is same and the output is scaled accordingly, but resistance is a factor here.

you don't seem to understand the maths behind it, so it makes sense why you hate % hp moves

Then please enlighten me with squishy vs squishy, tank vs tank, and squishy vs tank if I seem to not understand.

Well naturally the tankier beefier guys will feel the sting a whole lot less, it's kind of the point, with bonuses defenses the %HP won't do too much damage to them. The point is to balance it out somewhat such as to give the dealer meaningful but not impactful damage output. To have balanced raw damage is a bit sketchy due to the fact that either the ADC gets blown up too quick or the damage being so insignificantly low that it barely tickles defensive building champs.

Point is %HP damage is more accommodating and less toxic and imbalanced compared to raw damage. It's not perfect but ey it's something. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

Um, no. If you had flat damage, which favors squishies, you'd annihilate them. But on the other hand, it'd be near useless against tanks/bruisers who build tons of resistances/health. If you have % health, you are equally good against squishies and tanks. Yes, tanks have resistances which still reduce it. But if you consider the health portion of it, if both targets had the same resistances level, it would take the exact same amount of time to kill them. It would be a faster kill on a tank, but a slower kill (compared to flat damage) against a squishy. But then tanks have resistances, because they still shouldn't be difficult to kill either.

Also, squishy champions do not get to complain about being easy to kill. That is why they get massive damage in either single-target burst (assassin), AoE burst/CC (mages), or autoattacks/crit/towerkilling (ADCs).

normal damage amounts are much less effective. I can give an easy example.

if I build full Armor on a tank I can sit and take all the hits from Lucian's ult and probably not even drop 10% hp in the late game. Lucian's ult can also fully kill an adc with no armor built with not even his full ult.

There's nothing really wrong with % health damage. What's the point of these sorts of threads? To repwhore from people who don't understand the game and would rather just whine about it?

It takes away from diversity. I feel that if every champion dealt % health, then there would eventually be 6 perma-bans and 10 champions who stand above others solely based on how fast they get their damage off or prevent enemies from dealing their damage to them. Having crazy AD/AP scaling made more diverse champions, while keeping a very limited amount of % health dealers to be pocket picks, anti tanks, or alternatives in questionable situations. It also kept tanks from being one of the major damage dealers of their team. This is one of the reasons we are seeing tanky [fill in the blank] builds more often. If you can survive it while keeping moderate damage, you end up having a much easier game since you get bursted less and still can be a threat.

This is just how I see the game mind you. You are free to agree or disagree with me if you want.

Crazy AD/AP scaling leads to massive burst-level damage though, which vaporizes squishy targets yet makes them completely useless against tanks essentially. Riot wants all champs to at least be able to contribute somewhat in all situations so they're not entirely useless in some parts. That's what the assassin rework is for. Currently, they're near worthless in teamfights. They want to change that so they can at least still contribute somewhat. Of course, deleting squishies will still always be their strongest point.

Also, every champion with % health isn't solely % health. If they want the person to be a tank buster, they'll put % health more throughout the kit. If they want the person to be a squishy champ killer, they'll focus more on flat damages. If they want a person to duel anyone on an essentially equal level (given equal skills), they'll give % max health because that treats all targets the same way (outside of resistances). A prime example is Fiora, who has % max health to ignore resistances and health building on any target. But she will be able to fight any target equally the same. The only difference is her physical damage from her E attack buff doing a decent bit of damage by itself once she hits full late game stride.

To be more specific, assassins will have % missing health to finish off lower health targets. Solely tank busters will usually have % current health, although sometimes it's % max health. % current health is because as their health gets lower, you will do less damage.
