Not every melee champion can catch every ranged AD

So why is every ranged AD allowed to shred and kite every melee champion who doesn't have 50 gap closers?

Can we make champions that are meant to shred tanks like Kog'Maw and Vayne be the only ones that can do it so easily?

Killing tanky targets with sustained damage is the job description of the ADC. An ADC that can't put a tank on a clock is a pointless object in teamfights.

Now, we could buff survivability for tanky stuff, there's always room to tweak, but tanks will never not fear ADCs.

They are allowed to do so because the balance of things is currently in their favor. it's a recognized problem and is being dealt with, however it's one of those problems where it can never be fully solved. I'm just glad that good positioning can make every melee champion viable, even if said positioning is difficult to achieve in the current state of the game.

Have they mentioned it's being dealt with? All I see is assassins getting nerfed in the patch forecast.. which means marksmen will be stronger, which means tanks will be even weaker.

As I said it's something that will never be fully solved, and has been an overarching theme with each and every season. Melee champions used to fully outclass ranged, and right now the ball is on the ranged side of the court.

If Riot things things are close enough the balance team might be trying to keep things as is, with ranged outclassing melee. Riot hasn't said this is the case, and so we will likely see them continue to try and even things out. We won't get quick fixes like the assassins are getting, we're dealing with something that effects every single champion in the game.

This isn't about particular champions, or even a particular role. This is ranged vs melee, and if it's even possible to find a perfect balance it will likely take years to find, not counting the years that have already been spent.

Currently in their favor?

They've been able to do this since Season 2

This isn't a simple problem, and it will take years to fix if it is even fixable. You have to look at this in a scale of multiple seasons, not patches, and there has been real progress bringing melee and ranged into line with one another. It's not perfect, not by a long shot, but I would say it's the closest so far.
