I went 29 kills, 90 deaths across my 10 placement games.
My friends are bronze 1/2 and struggle to hit silver 5 every season. I just hit level 30 and played my placements. I won 4/10 placement matches with a collective KDA of 29 kills/90 deaths and hit silver 3.
How do placements work?
LostFr0st1 votesPlacements aren't affected by KDA at all, but instead are based on wins/losses and the ranks of who you played vs.
Most new player's fresh accounts will land around silver 3 going 50/50 in placements.
Every year when the season resets, your current rank will get reset and your MMR will get soft reset so that next year's climb can take place (this will happen in January) most people can expect to place a bit lower than they were, so it's normal for Silver 3 to then place Silver 4 or 5 at the start of the next season.
If your friends are B1/2 and only climb to S5 each season, then yes, they will keep placing B1/2 every year. They need to climb past that to place higher.

LostFr0st1 votesIt's not based on performance at all. It's just based off of wins/losses and who you played vs.
A fresh account is S3ish and since fresh accounts tend to be placed vs fresh accounts they kinda cancel eachother out and the player ends up placed S3ish for their first season.
Next season it is likely you start the climb a bit lower; I'd estimate S5 but again that's a guess.
WolfChases1 votesIts not high. Silver is one of the hardest elos because EX bronzes who managed to climb to silver think they are Gods and than they go YOLO, thats why they get stuck in silver. Same goes for Diamond 5, onde they hit Diamond 5 they go YOLO because noone can call them "low elo scrubs" anymore. I got placed in Gold 5 after my promos and hell, I regret it, I would be happier If if got placed in some high bronze. People jn Gold 5 are just......you either annihilate enemy team or you get stomped at 5 minute mark.

this is my first real season playing, but im ranked higher than my friends that have been playing since 2013 haha. I guess the other guy kind of explained it. SInce my accounts new, this is where new accounts always end up.
