Why am I in a normal game against a master?

I was just in a normal draft where everyone else was around silver/gold, and the enemy Rengar was master... What is this match making? How is this even relatively fair?

He was probably duoqing with someone close to your ranking.

Norms and ranked are different mmr. And if you spend the time to get to master you probably dont play norms much so his norms mmr is probably low.

He probably doesn't play normals that much so his normals MMR is low. Ranked and Normals maintain separate MMR.

Normals match making is a joke to be honest. I just had a waste of 32 minutes of my life (Between queue time + champ select, loading and the 20 minute game) because of a completely unbalanced game.

Best you can do is try not to lose your cool to where you get reported and just wait until you are able to get out of it. This stuff happens in normals, luckily theres a limit to how lop sided ranked games can be.

meh...me and my friends have constantly been VS gold/at one point a diamond players is flex placements. diamond was once,but gold is every game.

Matchmaking isn't that picky. Sure, they could've given you the diamond 5 or master on their team instead of the bronze 1 or level 30 on yours for a fair fight, but I'm sure the 23 to 4 game that ended in less than 20 minutes was more fun and fair for all of you.

Thats Flex, you wont' see that in Solo Q. Flex will eventually balance out and people will get matched correctly but since this is the first season of it most people are still climbing or dropping to their true skill level. This season Diamond Flex is honestly free for anyone that is even at like a low plat level because of how easy it is.
