How do I deal with a really good Lucian?

I've been seeing more and more and more Lucian to the point where he's either on my team or my team. And if he's good with a competent support I feel like I can never win. He out pokes and kites me and my adc everytime. What should I be doing to counter him?

From a support's viewpoint I mean.

Pick someone with a lot of CC (specifically slows) and someone who can put a lot of pressure on him earlier in the game when he is vulnerable. Also compositions that have a lot of diving tanks/AoE damage do good.

How about leona?

Pretty good, but the dash is a pretty good counter to your E and Ult.

If I have a good laning adc, Leona's a lot of fun. Just q after his dash.

If your adc wants to play safe until late-game, Braum turns Luc off pretty well, and engaging when ganks come in is pretty easy since Luc is such short range. If he can farm your minion, you can jump to that minion and prep a q for once he's dashed.

New Zyra pokes him out pretty well.

As a support? You wanna play someone who can eat a lot of damage without outright dying (Braum, Taric, Tahm, Blitz, etc), and someone with a good amount of hard CC. My favorite pick into him is Blitz. You W, run through minions right into their bot lane, pop R and E him (he'll dash), then Q him back in and your ADC finishes him.

He's really good at farming under tower like Ez, so don't push him into tower.

If you're not comfortable with the all-in strategy, play someone with a lot of poke and peel (Karma, Sona to an extent, Brand, Zyra, Lux, etc.) and just poke him so much that he can't go all-in and kill you -- but you can stop him if he does.

So, who works against him (as a support)?: Alistar, Blitz, Voli, Naut, Thresh (to an extent), Leo, Janna (for disengage, but not killing him), Karma, Lux, Zyra, Brand, Vel'koz (to an extent), Taric, and so on.

Keep in mind that Lucian is meant to be one of the biggest badasses around in laning phase, but he falls off compared to his peers. Keep a Twitch healthy in the laning phase and he will scale into a ridiculous team-shredding monster, whereas a non-fed Lucian will struggle to kill the front line by comparison.

Soraka is good for this for that reason.

Lucian plays in lines. Bait out his abilities by giving him obvious times to use them, however, since you know it's coming you can juke it 5 times easier. The trick to aggressive champs is to give them reasons to get aggressive that hold no benefit to them and just runs their mana down. Other than that, starve him to death. Most early champs like luci or MF are relient on having good early games. If a late game toon can go even with them then they'll fall off in due time. It is harder in this seasons meta to do that, but it can still be done. Other than that, you have to capitalize on his mistakes and punish him like a red-headed stepchild in K-Mart.

  1. If your ADC is a strong laner like Ashe Ezreal Draven Quinn MissFortune , pick an aggressive support like Blitz, Naut or Sona.

  2. If your ADC is a mediocre or weak laner like Vayne Jinx KogMaw Twitch Tristana , pick a peel support like Janna or Soraka.
