Why am I having such a hard time on Riven?

I feel as though I'm doing the whole AA Q AA Q AA Q thing just fine, lading my E+W to escape, and also ulting when I'm going in to go ham... but then my enemy either gains all of his health back almost instantly or his burst is bigger than mine and I can't finish him off by the time everything I do goes off. I really just don't understand...

I'm learning Riven so I get I'm probably doing something wrong, but I really don't understand. Conqueror just felt so weak to take on Riven, that I decided to take Electrocute and it didn't do anything more for me.

some people would say if you have higher then 32 ping not to play riven

Sometimes it's just the champion, you might just not find it to be your style. I mean riven is not my style of champion, like not everyone could play every champ and it also takes time.[sg-janna]

You are not so experienced player overall, even if you are technically higher than me on paper but you aren't as experienced as you should be to play properly around champions strong/weak points and that "might" be your case or you want from riven something that others wouldn't even dream about and excluding the fact that you have only 7K mastery points on riven. So if you are not smurf, in which case you most likely wouldn't even bother with forum, then its waste of time to bother with mechanics first. Its the same as if I complained: "why I do poorly on lux despite hitting everything?" when I disrespect the fact that she is mage and melees are stronger than me in melee even if I hit everything just fine.

I actually don’t have any tips that can help.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivenmains Try getting help from there and if that’s not enough I suggest watching Adrian Riven.

Adrian reads chat whenever he can so feel free to ask him questions.

It takes a lot of practice. And Riven's slightly nerfed compared to where she was at last season.

If you are not used to playing bruiser type champions then you need to get used to that play style. Also, Riven has multiple combos and so it takes time to understand when each is optimal to use, and how much damage you can expect out of each given your item, opponent character, opponent lvl, etc... Because Riven has more that she can do, it will take you longer to understand when every particular use of her kit is optimal. Riot Blaustoise posted the Riven learning curve before, and it showed that Riven players achieve mastery over her after 400 games in Plat +. This means that to achieve the average win rate of Riven, as a 2018 (time of his post) Riven player in plat +, you probably had approximately 400 games on her. So to improve on her, just spend more time playing the champion.

I think once you learn Riven she has very little counterplay and I hate her for it. However, I will admit that she is difficult to master.

You may have gotten much of Riven's mechanics down but you might just need more practice against certain matchups or understanding the laning principle for wherever you're playing Riven.

You could be taking more damage from Minions without realizing it or maybe you're not understanding the enemy build. Perhaps they've opted in more more health or regen.

Bit of a side note, but I personally hate that Riven's Q doesn't go in the direction of your mouse (similar to Sion Q)
