What if we raised gold price of offense by 100 each and lowered gold price of defense by 100 each?

Excluding basic items

Cloth Armor would not go down but Chain Vest would go down Long Sword would not go down but Pickaxe would go up

Would Tanks finally be viable compared to Fighters/Bruisers?

I think it would just mean tanks would powerspike earlier, and then fall off just as hard as they do now, while bruisers would powerspike later.

Like a lot of other people keep saying, the best way to make tanks stronger is to give them abilities that scale off of their own defensive stats, for Example, Braum has several defensive scalings, Garen and Mundo have health linked scaling, Rammus has Armor scaling as does Malphite, Galio has MR scaling (and is actually REALLY strong if used as a counter pick). The only other thing that can help out a tank even more is giving them straight up damage reduction, like Maokai or Alistar.

Tank kits ought to incentivize building tanky, and should reward building tanky by multiplying that tankyness. Fighter kits ought to be either continuous low DPS with high durability and utility (bruisers), or continuous higher DPS with lower defense and utility (fighters)

No, because Penetration still exists, and is still OP as hell.

You need to nerf the % penetration items before we can see tanks as viable as bruisers.

Your ideas on what a tank should do are terrible. You idiots want a tank to last a full 10 seconds while being focused by the entire enemy team. That is not ok for game health or balance. In fact, it's toxic as fucking hell, because if 1 person is fighting you, that means it'll take like 50 seconds to kill you, which means thornmail will kill them without you having to move, or, you can kill them easily with just your base damages. There's no point in even trying to fight a tank at that point.

What people want is for Defensive stats to be worth buying. In S2 because of the penetration (flat calculated before percentage) and HP being a "better buy" tanks would live for a decent amount of time and had a large impact in a fight. But now full squishies teams work well (that was a cheese back in the day).

I think what the OP and many others want to see is tanks being impactful at soaking damage rather than just being a paper shield that the ADCs burn through.

I play a lot of renekton and I never feel that I'm dying too fast. Ever.

I forgot the reason for damage dealers being stronger/more viable than tanks. Something along the lines of the game time being extended for an abnormal period of time. I forgot the person who said this, hopefully someone can shed some light on this :P

well then riot needs to turn all tanks into brusiers so they can do something. Just buffing the damage on the carries is not really fair.

If you want tanks to do better building tanky item. Give them Abilities that scale with tanky stats. Garen, Mundo, Scale really well with Health due to their Regeneration passives.

Like the other guy said, Unkillable tanks are problematic. But you can give a different Kind of Utility that benefits from building Defense items. (Like ZZ'rot't Portal)

2 cloth 2 pot starts become viable?

If tanks can afford certain items because they got buffed to be more tanky they might be able to buy different items and become a real problem. I suspect that things like Black Cleaver Garen or Wit's End Skarner might become too effective then. Not that I disagree though that tanks aren't tanky at all atm, I just can imagine Riot has made it impossible for themselves with changing things like this.

Honestly Garen isn't a tank he is a Bruiser, he just is so terrible at his job of being a bruiser he has to be a tank most of the time.

I think the early defense stacking into a few lategame damage items will make bruisers op :/
