I just realized something about Ekko

So ekko is currently an ok top lane competitive pick(occasional decent mid pick) and has also been plaguing ranked again

Now i'm confused,Riot didn't hesitate to pull a trigger on Azir , RekSai , Kalista

so my question is why isn't Riot gunning ekko down?(as racist as that statement may sound its metaphorical) Ekko is still a strong pick and has been for patches and patches so why isn't he being gutted into the ground to wait for changes?I do also realise that this might not be a very good way to design the game by basically completely removing champ from viability until some work can be done to put them back into a good place

Azir was a late game hyper scaler with too excellent of an early game to be allowed to walk the earth without getting nerfed. Rek'sai was an oppressive global threat with virtually no downtime and too much damage Kalista...well, I will merely point out the fact that she was designed by CertainlyT, and hopefully that will cover why she was gutted.

Ekko is an annoying tank with some mobility and damage that is very hard to get away from.

why would they?

they don't just go nerf away every champ that looks strong.. they nerf mostly when a champ does something they don't like

Something they tend to not like is being pick/ban with a high winrate, or being frustrating to play against.

Ekko is both, while the champions mentioned were simply frustrating to play against while not being completely crazy winrate or pickrate wise.

what makes you think they nerf based off that? You know how often champs have a high pick/ban rate and they don't touch it for a long time? Its nothing new

Because it's a known fact that a few Rioters have admitted themselves.

what is a known fact exactly, that they occasionally eventually ban if its too popular and obnoxious?

they recently nerfed it by the way so it could be a while before another

A known fact that they nerf based off of winrate + pick/banrate (see old Kassadin) and frustration factors (see Kalista)

they resisted any kassadin changes for a very VERY long time.

They enjoy seeing a "squishy AP assassin" build full tank while dealing immense amounts of damage and having ridiculous amounts of slows, speed ups and a huge 2 sec AOE stun.

probably, better than seeing one passively try their best to farm while doing all in their power to avoid interacting with the enemy in any way whatsoever

LCS>dynamicQ LCS means more. Sorry.

Champions nobody wants to play against. Zed Ekko Blitzcrank Fizz

They get banned when not particularly strong, and it's not solely because of counterpick potential.

ekko is doing okay. but he isn't carrying matches on his back like kalista and azir. reksai is just a nerf for competetive. sure ekko is picked in competitive but a cpl other top laners are getting picked just as much.

top lane will not be fixed until riot actually buff the many overnerfed top laners because how could we have anything but tanks in the top lane. except fiora keep that bitch nerfed.

Because Ekko is just an ok top lane competitive pick and all 3 of those champs were pick or ban.

well because balancing isn't nerfing into the aatrox/galio/yorick tier seriously.

Azir, Rek'Sai and Kalista are/were huge problems in competitive play. They were picked or banned every game for long periods of time. Ekko is a competitive pick but he's not in every game or defining a meta - he was only as popular as champions like Azir are for a couple of patches before his initial nerfs.

Riot only gut champions when there's no other way for Riot to get them out of pick/ban status in pro play or they're champions like Tahm Kench who Riot think are unhealthy. Ekko is for some reason not thought of as unhealthy and he's not particularly centralising in pro play. Gutting him wouldn't be consistent with their philosophy.
