Why do mages have such high base damage on their abilities?

Ok sure but why··1 votes·358 views

I remember when Riot lowered the AP on nearly every single item, and then said, >We want people to buy a Rabadon's Deathcap if they wish to assassinate people!!

But no one ever does that, do they? You have your champs like Annie with only 200 AP in the first ten minutes, but still manages to slaughter anyone with less than 600 magic resist in half a second with that nasty burst. Those base damages need to be looked at. It's the reason why so many champs can do better with tanky builds - they don't need damage items to do damage.

Because riot is scared

When AP champions had high ratios and low base damage, if you somehow get fed, you can start doing a lot more damage. By lowing the AP damage, you just can scale that well.

Now that same rule does not apply do AD type damage....

Double standards

And yes I agree. This also enables a lot of mages to go support because why built damage when it barely grants you anything...This is why brand slowly got pushed to support role. They nerfed his ratios, then his base damages. They buffed his base damage on passive and called it a day...
