If Youre Going to Balance Around Optimal Rune pages, Then Why Give Me a Choice At All?

Huge reason i play league now is because i run what most would call troll rune pages, to cater to my specific playstyle. For example 15ad, armor seals, mr glyphs, on nautilus for a pretty solid early cheese botlane.

41% attack speed runes on ad carries in aram

40% bonus crit damage on master yi in arams

99% of players dont run this but i find it to work extremely well, while being extremely fun.

Does balancing around optimal pages make basically any choice besides the optimal one a bad choice? Do you HAVE to balance around optimal pages, due to the amount of use they will see? Does this change anything from the current system of having to run certain pages so you dont gimp yourself?

I was hoping to see more freedom from this update, and am starting to feel like its just not going to happen.

Agreed. Honestly I would like to see less influence on the game from outside source. If they told us tomorrow that they'd be getting rid of masteries and runes entirely, you'd see no tears shed from me.
