Yi's "two-slap" kill

I'm seeing lots of Master Yi's get to this point where they literally hit you twice and you die instantly. I'm sure Yi gets argued about a lot, but something seriously is not right with this picture.

Yi ha and probably always will scale really well with items. He's an assassin similar to Akali, in that he has to do well earl to be relevant. That being said, if he does, he becomes a monster. I don't find anything wrong with these champs because they entail a risk of their own when you pick them. They're basically worthless if they don't get ahead. While I agree its frustrating in a team based game when you have nothing to do with the feed, it is part of the game. Building armor like thornmail or FH goes a long way against yi.

Randuin's is a better choice if you are not CD dependent. You need health because of his true damage.

Or you can take Master Yi jungle and AFK farm jungle.

As much as I hate playing against a yi, I enjoy playing as a Yi. He gets really strong late game, and even early game has the kit to do well. He's still nothing compared to his old fed AP self though. Now THAT was a joke to play against.

The worst/best Yi you will face is a generally smart or slippery player. Exhaust? You may honestly have wasted it as a smart Yi can highlander away for the few seconds it lasts. Youmuus is his secondary ult anyway :P. You better not just cc him, you better melt his face off, because alpha strike is deceptively good for jukes. Just alpha the enemy team member with least amount of cc and hit the jets. Sucess may even keep their focus on Yi as his team digs in. When he ganks, they will always be better when he initiates without alpha, especially concerning a tower dive because he can instantly lose tower aggro and split the tower damage. One thing though, Yi used to be able to be stunned mid alpha. I know because my girlfriend played Riven and hated Yi. So we practiced her stunning me playing Yi, and if successful I think it even stopped the damage. I'm not positive on that, or if this is even possible anymore, but you'll know you did it right if after or during the blur effect, he's stunned or what not

I used to play a lot of Yi because I thought he had an unstoppable late game.. but then slowly, fell victim to these Yi-stoppers:

-Any slow, stun, or movement impairing abilities or gear -Attack speed impairing gear like Frozen Heart, or the Exhaust skill which is combo of both movement+attack speed -Thornmail, or general Armor/Health gear, then go toe to toe against him, and most likely with BotRK if you are melee -Melee classes that can dodge attacks, like Jax, Fiora, Fizz

Any one of these will pretty much shutdown Yi to the point he is a non-factor to the game, and probably why you never see Yi in ranked games.

Um... slows cannot effect him during his ult at all... Any form. AS or MS.

He has true damage therefore building thornmail means be is more than likely going to cut through you easily plus most Yi's build a shiv and that will crit for 250ish. And his Q can crit and not proc thornmail. So he's already hit you for around 800 damage without your thornmail hurting him. Then after that his true damage melts down your little bit of hp left and his W and lifesteal lets him shake off the damage. Plus what do you recommend for the carries? They pretty much die before you can help them. You have to wait for alpha to cc him so he gets a free 1k+ damage off then if he does get CC'd and doesn't get locked he can just heal and take reduced damage.

Yi has very little counter play as much as people says he does. AS AND MS SLOWS DO NOT EFFECT HIM DURING HIS ULT. Therefore a lot of counter play goes out the window. He has 2 windows where you need CC for him. And he has a 75% reset and ult extender. Even if you do have a competant team he will just split push your base while you can't do anything to stop it unless you have a person that can out burst him and out duel him which is all of Jax and Fizz reliably. But fizz lacks reliable CC so Yi will prob win most of the time.

I would be fine with either nerfing his heal so it didn't scale damage reduction (why does it scale to Ali ult level and heal a lot?) or removing the ability of his ult to ignore AS slows.

Exhaust or any sort of hard CC stops him in his tracks though. As cliche as it sounds, hard CC is Yi's mortal enemy. That and teams focusing him. If you aren't able to do either he will walk over you. If you are hurray, it's pretty much a 4v5 with your team getting extra gold.

I blame the buff to Blade of the Ruined King. That was more of a buff for non-adcs than it was a "rework" for carries.

His early game is terrible and can be shut down, but not so much if he goes jungle (which a lot do) In that case, Thornmail is questionable since he can take Feral Flare and Bork, and deal all three types of damage very well.

BoRK may need some nerfs in general, and Yi's Wuju style probably needs it's base damage reduced.

I think changing bork would help and honestly I feel his true damage is a bit much when his entire build is around AS. Just makes him way to strong.

The main problem with Yi is that 'countering' (and i don't mean 'shutting him down', i mean merely defending yourself/your team against him) him comes down to picks and pretty much only picks. Itemization is borderline worthless against a Yi... most of his kit is only meaningfully counterable by mechanics not found on items (gee, sounds a lot like ranged champs, really), and that's a huge design problem in a game where the entire match isn't supposed to take place in champ select.

Between being an auto-attacking dps and having true damage on hit, armor is borderline worthless against him. Of course, since BotRK is and has been blatantly overpowered since it was reworked into having attack speed, health is pretty much worthless as well (as it is versus any auto-attacker). Slows, the other typical itemizable counter to auto attackers, and melees in particular? Negated. Movespeed to kite him (as though any class besides ADcs has reasonable access to itemized movespeed anyway)? He's faster, period. Hell, let's just say you can buy items to burst him... can you do so through massive impenetrable damage reduction? Nope.

The reality is, if you don't have the mechanics in your kit to deal with Yi, you generally simply won't be able to handle him no matter what you buy. Don't have a hard cc? You probably can't burst him due to Meditate, or peel him off anyone due to Highlander. Don't have a dash or a knockback? You probably can't escape him, due to Alpha Strike and Highlander. Don't have a giant defense steroid? You probably can't survive him due to Highlander and Wuju Style.

Melee ADCs are inherently problematic(they are ADCs, assassins dont generally have passive sustained DPS)

In order to actually survive, they require abilities that specifically remove nearly all counterplay (Fiora ult, Tryndamere ult, Yi Q and ult to some degree ect.)

They are feast or famine, either antifun for the enemy, or antifun for their own team. Getting 2 shot by someone without any possible recourse because he killed your top lane 6 times in 8 minutes is really kind of dumb.

To me these sorts of hypercarries contribute to the toxic nature of some games, by their nature they can become godlike and can instantly kill you without giving you the opportunity to test your own skill against them.

Some champs require skill to use, some require you to steal a few kills get a few items, and then right-click people for instakills.
