Can we just get a new champ that's simple ?

option paralysis··144 votes·6,186 views

Not 3 abilities with each having 2 passives and ult with global travel, etc. Just a champion with 3 abilites and a passive with an ult that actually does dmg. Only new champ I played since I started this game was Braum. I like champs with ults that help you win teamfights with dmg, whereas a lot of latest champs had that "tp-ing" style ults. Not everything has to be game breaking, sometimes a cool simple champ will do.

Taliyah felt relatively simple

True, but still not that appealing for me at least with that ult, again no dmg.

Ralanr83 votes

Then don't just ask for a simple champion if you just want one that appeals to you.

AramsAreBest29 votes

If you read his post he specifically said he doesn't want champions with ults like Taliyah. He did not "just" ask for a simple champion.

All of her abilities have some gimmicks which interact with her weird knockup ability that is a bit difficult to control and has a delay on it.

I think OP means champions that are a bit more straightforward without weird shit strung into their kits to make them either break the game or feel like you need a PhD to understand the variables in their kits.

Phoenix Kotori 4 votes

So Kled? He seems extremely straightforward to play to me.

Troll for Trump3 votes

If he has two "forms" that's not straighfoward.

Phoenix Kotori 4 votes

Compared to every other 2 form champion Kled is extremely straighfoward, and calling it a form is a stretch when he only gets 1 new ability.

Junkο1 votes

He gains 3 new abilities when mounted. If you have no experience with Kled you are stuck with a weak 1 ability most of the time.

Keepe3 votes

Kled is literally just "Hit em." Mounted or not.

It's a simple champion to learn. It just takes time to master.

A simple kit something Kled offers, but that simple kit takes time to learn. Like, for example, Jax.

Do you think so? I found her ridiculously convoluted. None of her damage felt synergized, I felt like I was waiting for an opponent with a dash to do anything about my E and the W isn't anything terribly special.

Honestly, I felt like she was mediocre Vel'koz with all her damage swapped for mobility-- nice, except she doesn't actually want to be that close to most of her competition.

What was I missing about Taliyah? She seemed really lukewarm on release and she seems even more lukewarm now, requiring an insane amount of work and micro considering what kind of rewards you got.

I think the worked ground killed it most for me, but I'd have loved her if they styled her closer to Sejuani where she's actually benefiting from being so close to enemies. At the least, she has an easy time getting around; I liked that.

Azir ^

PaladinNO10 votes

What's even left of Azir since his release?

I've lost count of all the things that's been changed/fixed/removed since then. -Bugs: too many to list. -No longer passively scales with AS (or was it CDR?). -W can no longer damage turrets. -One soldier less when ulting.

And I'm certain a lot of other things been changed/"fixed" too.

And I expect any new champion to be released these days to be nerfed/changed beyond recognition within weeks. Sorry Ivern, but I'll hold you off for a patch or two, despite having enough IP to unlock you 23 times over on release.

IPromiseTomorrow13 votes

Q = soldier charge E = dash towards soldier W = Soldier R = Wall

No more knock up from E. Q: range lowered (yes it was even longer lol) Q-W: scaling lowered Q: two soldiers can't apply damage twice to a target . W: attack range lowered by 75 units (I believe) Movement speed: lowered. 335->325 R: no longer gives 20% MS when running through it W: vision lowered Q-W:Bases lowered (or maybe just Q) R: duration lowered through all ranks.

AND MORE I FORGOT (Old azir Main)

Jesus he was gutted harder than almost any champ in lol. Maybe janna took as many nerfs to.

I just hurt my jaw when it dropped down and hit the desk after that read...

Jeebus, that was more "balancing" than I ever expected! Hell, after reading that, I wouldn't mind if they just did their usual trick and just nerfed Irelia instead. :/

Lovelle16 votes

I don't mind TP ults, Twisted Fate is pretty simple (kit-wise) after all. It's the 2-3 passives and having a kit that could be broken down into 2-3 separate champions that bothers me. Also, passives/abilities that take over a paragraph to explain. Makes me miss the simpler times.

Eedat16 votes

I still have no fucking clue how Jhin as a whole works. Has like 5 things jammed into a passive and a bunch of situational shit jammed into the rest

Ralanr8 votes

Basically AS and Crit build like AD.

You can ignore the movement speed part. You'll learn it in time.

NightmareAmazoX6 votes

Building AS gives you AD Building Crit gives you Crit & AD & Movespeed on every 4th shot of yours That's his passive.

MunchCrunchLunch5 votes

also execution percent missing health.

DrCyanide8 votes

Jhin's passive is broken up into 2 parts, his Auto Attack part and his Items part.

Auto attacks are relatively easy. Extra damage on the 4th auto, and you get movement speed on crits.

The confusing part of Jhin's passive is the Item interaction, but that can be summed up in a picture: http://theminster.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/everything-is-awesome.png Literally it just exists to let you build whatever you want on Jhin.

ZerglingOne12 votes

They had 2 seasons of that with a new champion every 2 weeks. From like... Renekton through Quinn basically all champions were what you are looking for.

Riot then decided they should stop the bruiser printing press and actually make unique champions with new mechanics.

CerealBoxOfDoom12 votes

champion name: rightclick

passive : when you right click things he attacks them Q: a meaningless animation occurs. It looks really cool but doesn't actually do anything W: same as Q but the special effects are a different color E: tosses an object at target object. Its targeted and doesn't deal much damage. Just enough to interrupt a recall R: champs can't attack or cast abilities for the next 10 seconds

Spice POWAH8 votes

Ultimate too complicated, accidentally killed my nexus.

bony whimsark10 votes

Xerath one of the simplest champs in the game

1 skillshot that just does damage 1 skillshot that just does damage and slows 1 skillshot that just does damage and stuns 1 ultimate which is 3-5 skillshots that just do damage 1 passive which gives mana when you auto attack something

it doesn't get much better than this boys. Come join the Xerath fanclub with me.

no, stop! Xerath is mine, stop exposing his true power god damnit!

You kidding? He can 1v5 in Ascension.

1 month later...

Riot: We're releasing this simple champion with a melee stun on this ability, a passive that gives you free MR and armour on champion kill, a 3 hit ability that pulls the champion towards you on the third hit, and an ult that does damage in a large cone based on your MR and armour.

Community: omfg rito u ar running out of ideas admit it11!!1!!!!1!!!! upvote me gaizz!!!!

Riot: Next time... A champion that controls the battle field through movement debuffs like charm and fear, except the enemy can still cast and auto attack!

Yorick is basically new.

MrBuffington3 votes

Yea, most really simple champions are going to come from reworks/relaunches. Warwick's supposed to remain pretty simple, I imagine the same will be true for champions like Wukong, Xin, etc. whenever they get work

FioraWillCarry7 votes

I think he wants another Annie. The only champ simpler than her is Garen.

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

Id put Fid before Annie since she has a charging stun thing

Quort4 votes

I'd say Fiddle is more complex than Annie. He requires more finesse to be effective due to the mechanics of Drain, Dark Wind, and Crowstorm. Drain requires solid positioning and an understanding of when to disengage and what damage sources you can reliably negate. Dark Wind's bouncing can be unreliable. Crowstorm is reliant on solid positioning, understanding of gank routes, and vision control.

Annie has a bunch of generic spells and a passive that can be understood so long as you can count to four. Considering her two AoE abilities cast instantly and her third damaging ability is targeted, there's not a whole lot of thought that goes into landing them or following up. Annie just prepares her stun and then dumps her entire burst combo on her opponent if they step within her range.

Kaxi6 votes

I honestly thought Sol was pretty simple. Positioning is key with him.

NightmareAmazoX4 votes

Kled AurelionSol Taric Yorick Taliyah How are those not simple to you mate.

Silent Pace5 votes

Kled passive is size of textbook and so is Yorick. Sol requires actual skill now that he's nerfed. Taliyah also requires skill but is pretty strong once you learn. I can agree with you on Taric though.

kile14720 votes

There's a difference between simplicity and skill curve. OP asked for simple with a damaging ult and AuSol matches that perfectly.

TheHappyReaperz14 votes

The text for Kled passive may be long, same with Yorick, but the concepts are simple.

Kled : You have a mount with its health acting as a shield. Should it be depleted you lose it until you recharge, losing ms, but gaining range on your autos.

Yorick : When you have 3-4 graves in an area you can summon extra minions. They follow you around and have a % of your health and damage.

Oleandervine1 votes

Ivern is also simple. He's got one extra passive, that gives him range and magic on hit when in brush, but he's not at all complicated.

Yep, I guess I'll try him out but you gotta say he's a weird dude.

Iwinatlife425 votes

Well you asked for simple not normal XP

The Deckowner10 votes

might be easy mechanically, but the amount of interaction with other champions is very complicated and game breaking

Mr Fidori1 votes

Good thing Kalista Bard TahmKench Illaoi, and new Poppy and Taric are all simple. There aren't really many complicated champions in this game.

kile14717 votes

Bard and Illoai are not simple.

Poppy and Taric are both not too complex but they have mechanics that could be hard to pick up for new players.

Kalista is actually fairly complex as she requires different kiting skills than other ranged champs and she also has a weird mechanic with her ult and spear bonding.

Kench may take a bit of reading but is relatively simple except for maybe his E, which is still reasonably intuitive. However he has a fairly unimpactful ult if not used with a lot of coordination, and it doesn't do active damage so I can see why OP doesn't feel that he meets the criteria.

Edit: Changed my mind, you're right that Poppy is a good example.

Mr Fidori3 votes

Well if we're talking about new players, there are champs down to like 1350IP that can be difficult. Sure there are champs with whom it's hard to know what you should be doing in a game sense, but I meant in terms of kits that are easy to understand what they do.

kile1471 votes

My interpretation of the original post was that OP wanted a champ that had simple direct abilities, a single passive, and an ult that feels impactful in team fights by dealing damage.

Going over that again I change my answer on Poppy because she actually meets those criteria fairly well. I was concerned about her shield passive, but thinking through it more it's pretty intuitive.

Mr Fidori4 votes

I was gonna say, I think Poppy's rework is actually spot-on. I'm a big fan. I will change it up and give you Illaoi though. Not the simplest.
