Assassins are supposed to be single target burst champions, right?

Why is it then that the assassin ADC (Twitch ) has the best AOE teamfight damage out of any ADC?

This is a pretty odd contradiction to me.

Because he was designed in 2009 and they didn't have classes back then. They just wanted to make a cool champion that people enjoy playing.

And honestly, as dumb as Twitch is right now, that's a lot better than conforming each champion to a class.

Oh also, he has the best teamfight AoE of any ADC because they replaced Sivir with a pale imitation in like 2012 or so.

classes exist for a reason though. Having both strong AOE DPS, single target DPS, and single target burst is ridiculous.

Classes suck.

Strong single target DPS + strong AoE DPS can be balanced out by other factors like scaling (currently fucked up) or other things they should perhaps look into for Twitch.

I don't think classes exclude that, really. If anything, classes are there to provide reference points, precisely so that new champions can play with them, break the mold and avoid treading on the toes of other champions, which is what happened in Seasons 1 through 3 when Riot released a ton of divers that basically did the same thing. I completely agree that it is possible to balance a champion around having both good single-target damage and AoE DPS, but currently Twitch isn't really in that balanced state, and achieves those strengths in just about the least interesting way. Riot's made quite a few missteps recently in their roster updates and class definitions, imo, but they've still made tremendous progress since the era Twitch was designed, in part thanks to clearer class definitions.
