Item's shouldn't make a class.

item 2049 item 3107 item 3190 item 3504

How come Support's are the only class where the majority of their problem's are caused not by the champions but the items? And how come support's are the only class where they're forced to buy specific items, not to mention these champions don't have much in their kits and playstyles that allow for Playmaking, Skill Expression ect.

How come the Item's are what make the Support not the other way around? I honestly don't think it's the fault of the Item's, Gold Income, Stats ect that make Support a pain to play for most players but the champion pool itself.

Items shouldn't make champions that's all.

Edit: Just so people don't get me wrong, yes there are supports that have plenty of Skill Expression and Playmaking Potential but most of them don't, it was only recently (Namely since Thresh's Release) where we started getting support champions that were good because of their kits not because of the items they buy. The champion you pick should be more important than the items you get.

Because low elo support players whined they didn't feel impactful enough in their matches and this horrendously overtuned itemization is the result

You could argue that the same is true for Marksman

ADC without item 3031 A juggernaut without item 3071 A mage without item 3165 An assassin without item 3147

P.s: Support isn't a class

Well for starters item 3190 item 2049 are really not just support items, sure they are bought and used mainly by supports but junglers and tanks do also buy them. item 3174 is considered a support item but people likeOrianna LuluLux are able to make use of it.item 3075 used to be a item only for aa champs, now is a must rush if your lane has a sustain to it. items will go through changes to shake up play styles and comps. its all how you itemize for your lane. Why is it that brand, teemo and fiddlesticks abuse item 3151? because its a strong item for their class style/ play. the items force a play style not a champion. item 3504 is god tier right now because of its synergy with Lulu, Janna, Rakan, Soraka, Lux, Orianna, Bard; the item is able to work well with their spells and thus rushing it can win their lane.

The difference is simple, Need and Want are two different things. A champion could "Want" to have an item because it help augment an ability they already have, but they don't NEED it because all it does is Augment them, not make them useful, plenty of teemo's both in High and Low ELO both in Korea and NA don't buy Liandry's Torment. You don't need it.

For all supports though you NEED to buy Sightstone, you NEED to buy Ardent Sensor, you NEED to buy redemption because if you don't, you aren't supporting. The items are, to them a NEED because it gives them the ability to actually do their job Effectively, whereas with Teemo and most champion, they already do what their supposed to pretty well without the item. Supports shouldn't have to buy an item in order to feel useful, they should be useful because the champion they picked is good for the situation then buy items to Adapt to that situation not the other way around.

Then of course there's Outlier's where an item gives a champion something that Breaks an ability they already have, such as Cho'Gath and Stoneplate.

Edit: Also the intentional user's of an Item are who that item is meant for and who buy's it the most, Lee Sin buying a sightstone because he wants more wards(though i'v never seen it) is an example of a champion using an item to Augment themselves out of Desire, not Need. So yes while many champions do build items that are meant for other classes it's due to the champions Synergy not the champions Need to have that item, a PERFECT example is ADC's building Lethality, the items were never meant for them and while, Yes they do buy them, their crit builds are just as good in most cases, they don't NEED the lethality, it just had synergy with them so they Wanted it.

Also item 3193 and item 3165

This isn't a problem unique to supports, there are other classes who are also overly reliant on a single broken item.

Well here's the thing, not every tank/bruiser NEEDS to build Stoneplate, and not every mage NEEDS to build Morello's, in fact many mages don't build morello's at all. It's not a NEED the item doesn't MAKE them, it only Augment's them.

For support's this isn't true, for supports you have to buy the items i listed or your not supporting properly, they NEED those items in order to be a support which is where the difference is.

Every Stoneplate user needs Stoneplate or they're trash, same for Morello's. Champs are completely balanced around and reliant on these items.

Well no, they aren't trash. I can play a tank without using Stoneplate and i'll likely still be useful, it's just really nice to have it. They don't NEED it, and i cant accentuate NEEEED enough, is Sejuanni still Sejuanni without stoneplate? The answer is YES she's still tanky as fuck but not AS tanky. Is cho'gath still cho'gath without Stoneplate? Yes! He's still tanky as fuck he just can't do 2k true damage to people.

Is katarina still katarina without Morellonomicon? The answer is YES, she'll still do a shit ton of damage, she just won't be able to prevent healing as well. Is Syndra still Syndra without morellonomicon, YES she'll still press R and one shot you, like they dont' NEEEEEED it, but it's nice to have.

Because supports get no gold outside of the global passive gold and their gold items.
