Garen is the only person who has a reasonable silence

Trash MammaI··4 votes·989 views

Being an easily kiteable melee champ with no ranged skills what so ever having to AA to get his silence off.

Talon being an AoE burst assassin who had his instantly along with a jump on it was dumb Kassadin having a ranged point and click silence along with retarded mobility from his ult was dumb Cho'gath having a ranged cone AoE silence along with an AoE knockup that slows is dumb..

I could understand if it wasn't AoE or if he didn't get a slow with his knockup or if he didn't have a true damage ult on a very low cd..

That no mobility might work for someone like malz who dies in easy but not for cho.

I'm fine with silences in the game, especially short ranged ones like Garen / low stack Cho. Its just a toxic and unfun mechanic on burst assassins / heavy dps champions. On disrupters / tanky dps its fine since they actually have to get up in your face to use it. And its fine because they have 0 hard gap closer except running at you.

If you can instantly blink / dash onto a target and silence them. There is something wrong.

Imo silences should all be like Garen's. Close ranged single target AA enhancers. Anything more is easily dumb.

If cho lands a 5 man silence (which isn't really hard to do) he disables an entire team from using any type of ability/summoner/active item for more than 2 seconds (which is pretty long for a teamfight) That's kinda crazy since he has an AoE knockup that also slows. I get it can be dodged but it's still there.

I totally agree with you on Cho. If he hits his silence on 3 or more people in a fight, the fight is over right then and there. It's basically an "I WIN" button. Not to mention that it does a crapload of damage. The duration needs to be at least halved, Blitz disrupts teamfights with just a half second silence.

Silences are fine. They're not even even a type of hard cc. At least you can move and auto attack when you're silenced, unlike a stun or knockup. If your enemies are dumb enough to walk into a 5 man silence, then they deserve to lose the fight.

If you think silences are overpowered, I probably shouldn't tell you about Malphite's ult (or any other aoe stun/knock up in the game)...

OhthePiplup2 votes

Because that Syndra is gonna do alot in a team fight with her auto's alone. Good thing she can still run with no flash or stun.

Toothierosprey31 votes

She can run away and get peel from her team for 2.5 seconds, then go in. Cho's silence doesn't always lead to a teamfight, unless 5 people are hit, or those hit are out of position.

Lugg1 votes

ROFL!

How is your team going to peel when they are silenced? Especially since the peelers are going to be the one's hit 95% of the time. You can't just run away, you are silenced. No flash, no ghost, no dashes, no blnks, etc. Let's not even mention that fact that Cho just follows up with his Rupture and you can't move at all.

Toothierosprey31 votes

Like I said before, if your entire team is dumb enough to walk into a silence, then you deserve to lose the fight. Usually either the front liners are silenced, or the carries are silenced, they shouldn't be that close together.

Lugg1 votes

You obviously have never had a Cho flash into the Baron or Dragon pits and Ace your whole team.

Toothierosprey31 votes

No, I haven't, but i assume its just like annie flash 5 man stunning a team or malphite hitting a 5 man knockup; extremely situational and difficult to do, and it shouldn't happen a lot.

Lugg1 votes

Knockups only last 1 second max. Cho's silence can last up to 2.5 seconds, which is an eternity in a teamfight. Very few champs are AA reliant. Plus, Cho can follow up with Rupture, another AoE CC knockup that does insane damage.

Toothierosprey31 votes

Malphite's instant aoe knockup that has 1000 range lasts for 1.5 seconds, and can't be cleansed (like a silence). Also, adcs, bruisers, and ad assassins can all do a lot while silenced. Mages can run away and engage when it wears off.

K. Cho has two abilities that provide AOE damage and disruption. Can you guess what the counter to that is?

Don't bunch up like fucking lemmings, and he won't be able to hit more than one person. At the very least, if your teammates are on either side of him, he has to choose which direction to scream in; the opposite side won't be hit by it. Cho excels in teamfights, so spread out and avoid getting hit by a 3-man silence.

because assassins can't burst him down in lane and is somewhat a pain the ass for Zed Leblanc players. He turns the lane into a farm feast.

Ohhh, so it's because Leblanc Katarina Zed are having a hard time.

Fewer champs who can bully him out of lane, he also got a new effect on his ult that reduces the CD and mana when used on a minion or monster. He can still do fair damage to a tank as well as a carry because of the True damage on his Ult. This made him a fair burst mage in this meta. His passive give health and mana sustain as well.

I find it funny that OP claims that Garen is an easily kitable melee yet thinks Cho'gath is a problem. (no dashes or MS boosts) The only way chogath gets to you is if a) he flashes, b) he chain CC's because it's not that hard to dodge his rupture otherwise.

Silence is Problematic on the Burst Assassins because it didn't allow for much counter play yes. Cho is more immobile burst mage, If he catches you, you were in positional error. He also had the Silence initially because he was initially used as a tank. Tanks like Cho, Garen, and Blitz use their silences for team disruption, which perfectly fits their role as a tank. Malzahar can also justify having the silence for team disruption, considering he can't use very well reactionary.

Trash MammaI1 votes

Garen doesn't have an AoE knockup/slow into one skill that can be used at a range, albeit dodgable but it's still there, said that in the OP. Garen also doesn't have an AoE cone silence. Cho has multiple tools to help him from being kited. Garen only has his Q which isnt' that great since he can still be slowed after it's usage and isn't immune to any other cc

Toothierosprey31 votes

Cho doesn't have free mr and armor at level 3. Cho also doesn't have a speedup and targeted silence. He also has high mana costs and is squishy early, unlike Garen.

3TWarrior1 votes

chogath is also all about positioning...you either take advantage of him or let him take advantage of you. If chogath gets silenced by garen, he's going to get hurt A LOT, maybe even die. Chogath also moves very slowly so champs he can't fight back against (say zed or master yi) will demolish him

he also has very long cooldowns for a mage/tank combo, but the funny part is that people actually survive that 1000 true damage he does at full build XD I've deleted your health bar...ult time! 1001 hp...oh come on XD

Toothierosprey31 votes

Yeah people complain about silences on bursty assassins and I'm just glad those assassins don't have any forms of hard cc...

Trash MammaI1 votes

This is a target toward silence, Cho's AoE silence in particular, not the champ in general

air tiger1 votes

Your title was about silence, but the whole second half of the post was about every part of cho'gath's kit sans the passive. In fact, you concluded with the opinion that a lack of mobility doesn't work for cho because he's too tanky.

And why do I get downvoted for asking a real question? I appreciate those of you who posted real answers.

Malzahar dieing easy they usually get really tanky just between rylai's and roa

Troll for Trump1 votes

TBH Garen kills ADCS faster than Cho'gath. Garen can kill them in like 3-4 seconds

3TWarrior1 votes

fiddlesticks is fairly reasonable. max time of 2.25 seconds I believe. It can really hurt, but that's only if your team is out of position for the teamfight and he has to get very close to use it. Also, garen's Q at max level adds like 300 damage to his auto attack or more
