Why does Riven deserve scaling MR when Yasuo apparently doesn't

Both manaless, both have free shields

Riven is more mobile and has a way better lane phase, and her sheld is way more Spammable than Yasuos.

Why does Riven not get to literally destroy projectiles for 4 seconds? Why does Riven have to actually use her shield, not get it to passively go off and absorb damage?

Riven shield is superior in every way. You are in control of when it gets popped, not them. Yasuo has pretty much the highest skill floor in the game. You can get 2 or more kills in laning phase and still become useless and fail to snowball.

How does yasuo have a higher skill floor than someone like zed?

Zed has a high skill cap, but it's still fairly easy to shit on most people with zed while not even using him to anywhere near his full potential.

Really? If Riven is CC'd (both silences/stuns AND roots/snares because her E is a dash) she can't use her shield, which is her only survavibility. Yasuo's shield automatically procs, meaning he doesn't need to worry about using it at the right time. Even then, Yasuo still has a projectile destroying wall for 4 seconds, which provides massive team wide safety compared to Riven's personal plain shield.

But Yasuo's team fighting potential is 100% better than Riven's. Even if Yasuo is 0/10. I've seen craazy comebacks from some great Yasuo players.

Saying Yasuo has the highest skillfloor in the game is a joke. Dashing through minions and pressing Q isn't that hard. It's also not hard to land your extremely long range tornado. Not that you need to, practically any ability sets it up for you, even if it's not a knockup. Looking at you Rammus Riven Diana Singed. You get the idea. "Airborne"... gimme a break.

It honestly doesn't matter whether Yasuo's team helps him ult or not. He should be able to succeed regardless of his team. His entire kit relies on landing skillshots. He can't even ult unless he lands 3 q's in a row (and his knockup). Yasuo needs some QOL buffs to help him a little (maybe let him keep his knockup for a few more seconds) once he finally gets it or revert the nerf to his base HP. I'm tired of all the high skill champs being hit with massive nerfs (Yasuo, Ezreal, etc). All you have to do is dodge the skillshot. It's really not that hard.

Spamming E usually over-extends you and pushes the wave? And I'm sorry but if you can't dodge his extremely telegraphed tornado, you're bad. Easier to dodge than Vi's Q.

I think people understimate Yasuo's shield.

Yasuo : "Gg riTO stop nerfing my shield!!!1111!!"

Lux Janna Lux : "well you know what i have a resource, MANA, and you know what i gotta do to use my shields, spend that mana and buy 500 mana potions like an addict"

"Free shields" Right because having an ability be a shield is "free." Yasuo's actually is free because he has a double passive anyway for some stupid reason. Regardless, Yasuo is tanky enough as is and doesn't need it. However, Riven is too tanky as is and should have it remove. Not sure if it was your objective to have Yasuo buffed or Riven nerfed, but if the latter then I'm all for it.

Neither does. In fact, their MR should scale DOWN with level. Maybe that will balance out their spammy resourceless playstyle and free stats.

Yasuo doesn't need anything. He is fine in good hands and works great with certain comps. He's a team fight god who can literally change the outcome of the game with a single good ultimate.

Well, Riven has to actively react, use the same ability twice, and spend a CD to get that shield (which relies on a bonus AD scaling that can't even dream of achieving the same values as Yasuo's shield does passively), and that's her only defensive ability outside of her CC - which has to be applied in melee range (no matter how capable she is in that range or how simple it may be to get into it).

Why does Riven deserve MR?

~90% of melee champions gain scaling MR, gaining exactly 1.25 per level. It's a melee-champion thing more than anything else, as all ranged champions are stuck with a flat non-scaling 30. Barring abilities that boost it.

Why does Yasou lack MR?

Beats me. The other melee champions that lack MR per level are: Poppy Maokai Jayce Nidalee Elise Kayle

Until fairly recently these guys were also in the mix: Shen Singed Galio Gragas And then a lot of people complained it was kinda lame/inconsistent they didn't have MR (especially Galio) so Riot added it back.

Whatever reason you could argue for Yasou not having scaling MR, a decent number of other melee champions also fit the bill.

Hey man, why does Yasuo get a free 50% crit chance? bottom line Riven typically sucks in team fights where as Yasuo is a huge team fight advantage. they both have their strengths and weaknesses.
