Getting really sick of these kinds of champions. Old weak Aatrox was "unhealthy for the game", but apparently champions who are stupid tanky, often have good mobility due to CC and items that work well with them, often massive CC and massive damage, are just fine. OH, and some of them often do true damage to boot. Nice.

In fact, I see these champions frequently carrying and having more kills than adcs, or straight AD champions or assassins or mages.

No one has yet convinced me that champions like these don't do too much too well. Fucking Darius...I don't give a good god damn if hes not played in worlds or whatever....he bursts people down with TRUE damage while being SO FUCKING TANKY. Its a joke. What his weakness? Kiting? Please. Team fights happen. Things don't exist in a vacuum. The other team also has CC.

Super annoyed that these champions exist. Hate em, convince me otherwise.

I can't convince you not to hate them.

If they were truly head and shoulders above the rest, though, high tier players would figure out how to abuse them in every lane. When a champ is broken, people abuse it. Sometimes it takes them a little while to figure out how to do that, I'll give you that.

But none of the champs you highlighted are rated in the top tier on lolalytics. They are quite beatable. So they obviously have some weakness that other players are able to exploit. Otherwise, the stats would show how broken they were.

The only one I think you can make a decent argument for being broken atm is Sion, and that's because of his stupid "feeder Sion" strat. Which, I might add, isn't even his most successful build rn. So, yes, they all have weaknesses.

DarkinPrime2 votes

beatable at high elo. So what? So fuck the rest of us. And in teams where coordination can take them down vs solo que. Whatever dude.

ModKnightsKemplar5 votes

Now, I'm usually on the "balance around low elo, too" train. But in this case, specifically, the data works against you.

In bronze, the champs you mentioned are not ranked well. Urgot isn't top or second tier, but third tier. And the rest are lower than that. Source. So they aren't OP at low elo, either. That isn't the issue.

I highly recommend taking a look at their pages and figuring out what they are strong against; that may give you some insight into why you hate them. That's usually the case when I have hated champs in the past. I hated Fizz because he could dodge old Swain's torment, effectively making me useless against him. I hated Leblanc because she could dash in and hit me before I could trade back, and old Swain didn't have the tools to deal with that. And so on.

Just because those champions counter your preferred strategy doesn't mean they are OP. That means that you will have to ban them, be comfortable losing to them, or change your strategy. That's part of League. It's a feature, not a bug. Counters exist.

I fucking swear. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH MY PREFERRED STRATEGY. Every one of you people on the boards try to reduce the argument by trying to make it about ME or during laning phase, in some weird vacuum argument. Its about what I see as whole, and how those champions, interact with the entire team and how they effect the entire match.

Almost all of you people on the boards do this. You try to focus the debate around the person posting the topic, and assume its because they are frustrated that such and such champ counters their playstyle.

I refuse to respond to any point you made because I am tired of everyone on the boards failing to know how to properly debate and argue.

But laning phase is where Darius can be oppressive to certain champions. He's an "early game lane bully". He's generally much less effective in team fights, unless ahead. If you weren't complaining about laning phase, then your point is even more difficult to credit.

So, I see that you were working with Olaf for a while, recently. I'd suggest, maybe continue with that. In some ways, he's kind of similar to Garen, but he's not somebody that people in low mmr usually have a lot of practice fighting against.

If you can't kite a Darius thats on you, the champion has literally on gap closers or move speed steroids while almost every single ADC these days does. A mage can turn around and one shot him or do atleast 3/4 of his hp bar. Assassins can kill the backline then proceed to dash away. If you are dying to a Darius as a non-tank at the start of the teamfight, you are bad, simple as that. Unless he is atleast 5/0 he is very easy to stop.

The rest of the champions you mentioned have counterplay. I think Urgot and Garen are too strong at the moment MAYBE Gnar if played very well. I don't know how the fuck Mundo is destroying your team in a meta of true dmg and 3 ignites. Yorick got nerfed into the ground.

Yeah okay buddy. Also, again, like every one else, you try to explain away these champions by painting these ridiculous scenarios as if the entire game is just laning with no ganks or team fights.

The other team has CC too you know, so things dont always work out the way you want to imagine them to.

The fact that a champion has counter play literally has NOTHING TO DO with if they are too strong or not in general. Counterplay is great...untill its 5v5 with CC and damage flying everywhere....and then what?

Currently, I am a Darius otp. I have 4 accounts ranging from D2 to D5. I used juggernauts and tanks to climb on each account. However, before that I used to main fighters and assassins, things such as Yasuo, Wukong etc. I know both sides of the spectrum, being the Darius and being against him and let me tell you he is easily kited. The fact about juggernauts in general is they are something you have to play around, to consider and to change your strategy when fighting against when, primarily to kite them unless you are fed enough to roll over them. Most people just don't want to think that hard to change their strategy, so they come to the boards and complain to Riot to gut these champions into the ground.

Anyway, as I have experienced every elo (from silver to masters), I can tell you that (obviously) lower elos have a harder time dealing with these champions, that can be statistically proven by (for example) Darius and Garens ban rate. While higher elos have an easier time playing around them, much easier infact. This is normal, some champions are pub stompers while others work the same in all elos. Not much you can do about that.

same for every other champion on that list. you want to remove their only win condition and be able to fight and kite them when you already messed up? then how are those champions ever going to make themselves useful?

Fair point. But it doesnt change the fact that we have champions who are literally acting as tanks still doing more damage than the other teammates. That is still absurd. I dont give a good damn if they are beatable and not played at high elo...or on teams who can use COORDINATION as opposed to the random shit in solo que.

its not absurd, when you realize a couple of things.

  1. actual tanks are laoded with utlility and aoe cc that always makes them relevant often when theyre far behind in gold of their opponents. a Maokai ult engage will have the same effect when hes 0/10 or 10/0 as long as his teammates are doing well. utility is massive in a team oriented game, and its something that juggernauts lack over actual tanks. this is why tanks are always highly popular in coordinated pro play even when theyre shit in solo que. their utility makes them reliable.

  2. range on abilities and auto attacks is at the same time the best offensive and defensive stat in the game. it allows you to fight your opponent without directly interacting with him and putting yourself at risk.

  3. mobility is an advantage that melee champions usually have to offset the range advantage of marksmen, mages and other similar ranged carries.

juggernauts have none of these qualities.

when you think of champions like aatrox or darius or garen, theyre more like slower versions of riven or yasuo etc. theyre intended to be carries. but instead of utility, range or mobility, their power budget is in upfront beef instead.

if youre looking at them as tanks, youre looking into the wrong direction. tanks are closer to supports when it comes to team roles. juggernauts are like the antithesis of marksmen as carries.

marksmen have upfront impact on a fight by being able to chose their target and immediately applying their damage as soon as the fight starts. their win condition is to stay at distance and keep applying their damage to not get punished for their glass cannon builds by getting into arms length of their opponents. they tend to need peel from tanks and supports to be able to stay at a distance.

juggernauts want exactly the opposite. they have a delayed impact by taking time to get into the fight first. their win condition is to get into melee range and stay there to be able to carry. their high base damage and defense supports this playstile. juggernauts are easily kitable and tend to need the help of tanks and supports to get into close range where they can carry.

DarkinPrime2 votes

"juggernauts have none of these qualities."

Bull fucking shit. Galio Sion Urgot have ways to engage and cover that distance.

You guys are spltting hairs. A champion that has 5000 hp and is super hard to kill is effectively a tank. You want to play semantics to justify Riot fuckery, thats fine, but don't expect everyone to lay down for you as you try to push that

Ralanr2 votes

Galio and Sion aren’t juggernauts. They are tanks.

Urgot has a dash though he doesn’t have any healing mechanics which is common in juggernauts. That’s his trade off.

DarkinPrime2 votes

Haha spiting hairs. I dont care about the labels. They function of these champs are the same for all intents and purposes.

If you want to argue by splitting hairs and playing semantics, that's fine. Just don't expect reasonable people to buy into that level of bb

i can see how urgot is an outlier, even though his auto attack range barely counts, since he still fights almost entirely in melee. but dont say juggernauts have tank qualites and then list a couple of tanks.

galio, and sion arent juggernauts. theyre tanks. sion is a vanguard, galio a warden.

urgot could kindof count into the juggernaut category, but is more of a unique champion. i would group him in there only because he has the same playstile of tanky, relatively slow and melee oriented.

while urgot is technically ranged, his passive incentivizes him to fight full on melee, since he circles his opponent faster the closer he is to him.

There’s tanky, and then there’s actual tanks. Tanks are the ones with massive crowd control and utility and focus on engaging (Malphite, Sion, Ornn) or disengage/protecting (Galio, Poppy, Braum). Juggernauts focus on dealing as much damage in melee as possible and surviving through healing and defense, that’s it. They have completely different roles and functions, the only similarity being..they are durable.

Urgot is a juggernaut outside of his small auto range. Galio and Sion are tanks due to their CC. They both get a lot of durability, but they have completely different functions in fights.

DarkinPrime2 votes

I understand that theoretical distinction.

It is my position that Juggernauts are TOO tanky for the amount of damage they deal.

Why the FUCK can no one understand this argument?

We understand that that is your position. Just don’t expect a lot to agree with it. For these reasons:

  1. tanks and juggernauts carry two different roles
  2. juggernauts are supposed to deal that much damage, they’re typically comparable to ADC’s over extended fights. In fact, they’re supposed to be melee carries. However, they don’t have the range of marksmen, nor the mobility of other melee ADCs like Yi, Yasuo, and the like. In exchange, they get massive durability. Otherwise, they would just get blown up, or others would just do the damage part much better.

But that's just like saying "I don't care for a particular playstyle, therefore destroy it." I mean I hate adcs and auto based champs like jax, tryn, you, but I'm not about to say to completely get rid of those playstyles just because I personally don't enjoy them. Every class of champs is toxic to somebody and your line of reasoning is pretty unreasonable tbh. You're basically saying that you don't care that juggernauts, for the most part, are balanced and have plenty of counterplay. They are part of a triangle concept: tankyish, immobile, high damage, may or may not have some limited mobility or some hard cc. Tanks usually have better defensive stats and more disrptive cc, often having better mobility and teamfights presence. Assassin's are highly mobile with tons of burst damage, but are squishy, adcs have range, dps, and usually some variation of high mobility, great scaling, and/or cc. Mages have more ranges, more aoe, and usually lots of slows or other cc. Fighters are usually mobile, with high damage and some innate defensive abilities, and so on and so forth. Of all the classes I just mentioned, juggernauts have arguably rheost counterplay because anyone. It seems to me you are just bitter and heavily biased against the class because you don't like the idea of tanky damage dealers.

I can see you're very frustrated with getting these champions in your lane. I can see where it comes from. These champions can abuse lower elos very efficiently. How do I know you're low elo? op.gg'd you. You seem to main aatrox.

So I can see where all this frustration comes from now. But the thing is these champions don't just have one weakness. And higher elo players use these champions' weaknesses against them to beat them in lane.

For example, Darius . He can be kited yes, but he is also weak against champions that can get in his face. Sort of like aatrox, any champs that get in his q or hit outside of his q range cripple darius. His only method of sustain is q so if you avoid it in laning he basically can't sustain damage and loses trades. He has no mobility outside of items and summoner spells. That's where the kiting comes in.

Another example is Garen . Now this champ actually counters aatrox too so its a bit more of a struggle. His main weakness you would think is kiting but it's actually extended trades. Garen works off of short trades because he relies on his spells for damage. He's also weak to poke that disrupts his passive aka his sustain.

These are only some of their weaknesses but just calm down and think about what these champions are good at and bad at. I suggest playing them for a few games to get a feel of their kits and how their kits work. For example, did you know that garen has a slow cleanse on his q? Did you know Darius has passive armor pen on his e? Playing the champions yourself gives you an understanding of their weaknesses in lane and outside of lane.

Also you should stick to aatrox as one tricking is one of the easiest ways to climb. If you want, I can coach you on toplane, at least, a plat level understanding of toplane, which can help you duel better and climb faster because I also noticed you've been silver for 3 seasons now.

Also don't take me addressing your elo as an insult. It's just an observation.

I didn't even have to look you up to determine you're low elo. Added to that, your account is irrelevant. You have the mindset of a low elo player. On that note you seem to be getting hostile as some sort of defense. You see being called "low elo" as some sort of insult. Also I'm assuming you're trolling since you said your account is banned yet you're still playing on it and you have a past history of being in silver for the past 2 seasons
