Kalista feels clunky

So after having played Kalista several times I've come to the conclusion that I personally don't like her. My issue is with her passive which feels incredibly clunky to me. I understand that it's an entirely new mechanic to learn, but it seems like more of a restriction than an advantage on her. Here is my issue with it:

You can't simply walk after autoing. If you auto you either sit in the same place, or you jump a preordained distance relative to your boots. This is extremely limiting to your control over the champion in that you can't move smaller or larger distances based on what you need in the moment.

Here's where it can mess you up really bad: You're kiting in a team fight and X champion walks up on you. You auto them and attempt to kite back, but jump farther back than they move forward. This puts you out of range for your next auto attack and cuts into your mobility simultaneously.

If I had a choice I would change the passive to require a specific input to trigger the jump, rather than automatically processing it on a move command. (EX: auto attack -> right click is a normal move command. Auto attack -> left click is a hop). This gives the player more control over the champion and everything would feel a lot more fluid imo.

gj Nasreth, you finally understand her weakness as a hyper-kiter.

I've come to the same conclusion as well. My largest concern is that I don't always and exactly know where I will be after an auto attack jump. I have an idea, but I've found that not knowing exactly where you will be is a huge detriment. I find myself second guessing if I'm going to accidentally move into an undesirable position, or if I will be in range to auto attack at all.

So that's what really kills it for me, as I cannot question my own positioning and sustained DPS. In the instances where I was successful I got to admit that it only worked because in the complete flurry of confusion, I was the one that was less confused (and I was really, really, really confused).

Agreed. It seems like whenever I manage to put out a lot of damage it's because my opponent seriously overcommits to trying to kill me while I kite back.

I've been playing a lot of Riven vs Kalista as well and I've found that the key to beating her is to simply bait a jump backwards and then walk away, creating a ton of distance between the two of you. There's zero way for her to follow up on that and so she has no kill potential in a 1v1, but if you catch her in a forward jump while you're coming forward it's lights out for Kalista.
