What am I doing wrong?

I play an easy champ like Poppy, an ADC, Syndra, GP, and so on, and I absolutely carry the game and destroy everyone. I play a champ like Ori, Ekko or Azir, who I enjoy playing far more, and I just have my ass absolutely handed to me.

It's not that I don't understand how to use the kit of the harder champs... I can use them really well. It's just that, despite everything I do, I just get destroyed, or I have such pathetic damage that I can't kill anyone (despite having 700+ AP on Ori late game)... I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any champion I enjoy, I just lose. Any champion that bores me to tears and/or feels like cheating, I win easily.

I don't want to trade fun for winning, but that's what it seems like I have to do. What am I doing wrong? : /

It's the shitty meta the preseason brought to us.

No real way to win other than playing what's meta. (retardedly powerful assassins, tanks and burst mages, in addition to a few ADCs)

Lol, holy shit i had this same problem in silver. You can look at my profile if you'd like. I forced myself to play a lot of Amumu JarvanIV because they were bringing me wins, though i didnt find them very fun. Then when i played champs like Lee Sin or Udyr, champs that i loved to play in ranked (at least at the time) It would be a struggle and I lost quite often, despite feeling very confident on those champs.

The problem is, some champions are just better in solo Q for various reasons.. It wasn't until i decided to main Rengar that i was able to play a champion i love in ranked solo Q w.o feeling like ive gimped myself. You have to find a way to carry the game from any and every scenario with a champion that you are looking to play in ranked. I cant confirm that it'll work, (mostly cuz rengar is proven to be solid in solo q) but the more you practice a champion in ranked, the more situations you will find yourself in. Which will then help you in the long run learn what you need to do in those situations to win.
