League vs SMITE - Unbiased Opinions Please

Over the last year or so, SMITE has been popping up more and more for me so I decided to check it out while I was banned from League for a while for toxcity.

(I lose my temper easily a game, something that trolls are more then happy to take advantage of so now I mute everyone and everything in my games and its going great for me on my alt account and starting from the bottom again really taught me new things about Champions that I thought I knew well. Its actually harder to play the game without all the runes, masteries and "Filler" that League shoves onto a champion, allowing you to simply focus on your builds and playing.)

SMITE has a very interesting concept, first its full 3D which is actually REALLY wierd if you are used to playing a top-down perspective like League. Secondly, EVERYTHING is a skillshot, including auto-attacks which instantly made me gravitate towards this game because I have always FELT (and this my opinion) that ADC's not being able to miss auto-attacks substitutes for a lack of accuracy on the player's behalf).

I picked up Aphrodite straight away, usually playing support and later discovered that she is a damn powerful mage but also a powerful healer. She's kinda an interesting mix of Soraka and Ahri with a Kayle like ultimate that is only 0.5 Seconds long but breaks all CC on both you and your "soulbound" target (very similar to Kalista)

Also, it is interesting to note that many champions and gods in smite feel the same, the most obvious being MonkeyKing and Sun Wukong. Not there is anything wrong with this.

However I just can't get into SMITE the same way I can with League. League was the first moba that I actually played and enjoyed but I feel that SMITE has a lot of potential. So my suggestion to people who want to try it out is play both and make your own minds up which one you like more or just do what I do and play both.

Oh and Bellona is SUCH a copy of Riven, the resemblance in the splash art is pretty hilarious.

I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions on both SMITE and League and the direction that both games might take in the future. Do you think its possible that League may redesign itself to be full 3D considering in LCS matches they do low sweeping 3D shots of Summoner's Rift?

I think it's a good game but I can't get used to the camera shift Also melee gods < ranged gods

Agree with you on the melee gods thing. People always talk about unbalance between ranged and melee champs in league -- clearly they have never played Smite

You're on the wrong forum for unbiased opinions. I don't have much Smite experience but it seems to have much less room for theorycrafting, build adaptations or grand strategy. It feels much more like a shooter style. It is too different to compare.

i played smite a little, and i enjoyed it for a while, but it felt like it had no consistency. i've played many other mobas, including HotS, Dawngate (rip), Dota 2 (i know i know, i hated it too), and in every other moba i played, if i built tanky on a tank, i felt tanky. if i built damage on an assassin or adc-like character, i felt like i dealt a lot of damage. yet in smite, if i built tanky on a tank, i felt like i was made of butter. if i built damage on a damage character, i felt like i was throwing cotton balls at people. and yes, i was building properly, and no, i was not incredibly behind. i do account for things like "is he fed?" "am i behind?" when i look at these situations, and i just always felt weak. that's really what turned me away from it.

it's a cool concept, and i am HYPE for Paragon, which is an upcoming 3rd person moba.
