Can we get a pair of support boots

Heckin Support··50 votes·3,906 views

Honestly if you think item 3158 are good for supports, you haven't seen that just about every support item in the game has cdr attached to it. Can we please get some sort of boots that have a support-esk vibe to them?

Maybe boots that interact with sommoner spells, or vision, or a mana aura, just something.

item 1302 item 1307 item 1312 item 1317 item 1322 item 1327 item 1332

Captain Enchantment is the closest thing to a real support boot. Mobility boots for warding and catching people as Thresh or Ninja Tabi as Braum are great.

item 1327 or item 1326 Gotta "Secure the Kill" and be Sanic fast doing it.

Lulu Vayne chasing a fleeing Evelynn is always fun to do.

Vayne Legendary!!

item 3117 ?

These would be nice, if they didnt stop the proc after taking out wards or something.

I would really really love this change. I hate it that it goes on cd when clearing wards. I guess they don't want to make them too strong for LCS plays and such, which is a pitty because they could really use this QoL buff.

BEHOLD BOOTS OF SIGHT!

Boots of Speed + Sightstone + 175 gold = 1300 gold

Unique Passive: Enhanced Movement - +45 movement speed Unique Passive: Ward Refresh - Holds 5 wards and refills upon visiting the fountain. Unique Active: Ghost Ward - Place a sight ward that lasts up to 180 seconds. Maximum of 3 out at a time Unique Passive: Extended Vision - Wards have a 10% increased vision range.

The problem with this is that it'd be pretty easy for junglers / top laners to build them if they weren't against a team that demanded defensive boots. I think Riot's stance is that they want roles with better gold income than supports to have to pay for their wards the hard way, that's why Ruby Sightstone isn't stronger.

CrazedPorcupine2 votes

increase the recipe cost to 475 so the total cost is 1600 and reduce the ward refesh down to 4. Keep the HP at +200 (Sighstone hp) reduce the MS to +35 if necessary, Supports get the +10 flat MS from Nomad's Medallion and generally take extra MS from utility tree

You have boots that protect you from physical item 1317 , magic item 1322 , provide additional movement speed when roaming/kiting item 1326 item 1307 . It would seem like there are plenty of options for support.

He isn't saying that there are no boots supports can use, he's saying there are no boots specifically designed for support and he is correct.

You're right. There needs to be a boot with an active, so supports have to mash all seven item slots.

Mobility boots are the support boots right now. I personally hate boots of mobility so I'd welcome another option, but merc treads/ninja tabi are good on the tank supports, mobi boots are good on the roaming supports (i.e blitz/bard/alistar). Sorc shoes are good on the mage supports (zyra, velkoz). You are right there is a gap for some supports like soraka/janna/sona who overcap on cdr with lucidity boots now.

At least on Sona Sorc shoes are fairly good.

Raka works well with moby boots, lets you go sanic fast to your dying teammates.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

because of her heal range, I prefer Swifties. There's a good chance of getting hit in cross fire while chasing you're ally. Then you're screwed.

ChaoticPinecone3 votes

item 3117 are too useful for roaming to ward, especially when it synergies so well with the utility tree and its cheaper than any other option. Captain enchant is great - it lets you engage harder (esp with item 3800 ) or it basically gives you Janna's passive. item 3158 is still useful if you want to get max CDR as fast as possible, which is useful on champions like Thresh or Blitzcrank

DazedOnlooker1 votes

I usually switch out my item 3117 for item 3158 or ignore mobies, they are great for roaming but i hate that the passive goes poof when i'm trying to escape causing 1shot champs with item 1306 or the like to catch up and delete me. I would rather much have the CDR for the utility spam.(OP on Lulu )

They have an obviously terrible masteries page because it is simple to get 10% before the game starts as a support?

how about if you decide to go into the defense tree? how about if you don't care about the offense tree? how about if they find better success in changing the masteries depending on the support they are playing?

You can take 9 points in defense, 19 in utility, and still get at least 2 points for cdr, giving you 7.5% cdr, and quite a few people use cdr blues, which is another 7.5%...so honestly that's even more than 10%. Hell don't even go into the offense tree and you will still have over 10%.

It is really really easy to start with at least 10% cdr as a support. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't outside of being stubborn because you don't want to "go into the offense tree". I mean the CDR is on the first row, it isn't like you have to go all the way down it or anything.

3tyson2 votes

you dont have to have points in offence to get the cdr u can just get the cdr and ignore offence afther that

FooDang2 votes

10% from masteries? I don't even touch the offensive tree for any of my supports. That includes my mage supports.

You can't spare 4 points on the first row?

FooDang3 votes

with 21 in utility I only got 9 points, all go in the defense tree. every point counts especially on all-ins. that will be the difference between getting out on top with slivered health or dying because you "spared" 4 points for that cdr. Early game matters in bot lane and for all-ins that 5% cdr does jack when you only can use your abilities for 1 rotation in an early all in.

TLDR: no i cant spare 4 points for the CDR

While there are some champions i can see the arguement for. For a lot of them (mostly mage type supports) +50 HP will rarely mean the difference between life and death, where getting to cast "that spell" 1-2 seconds quicker could make or break you.

Biffolo4 votes

That 50 hp is the only thing that helps you survive ignite.

FooDang2 votes

20 seconds * .05 = 1 second cdr

10 seconds * .05 =.5 second cdr

auto attacks have a significant less cooldown than spells. Most of your damage comes from AAs than spells in all ins. If I'm auto attacking im getting hit and that 50+ health makes the difference between getting more autos in and flashing out of range when I'm at a sliver of health. that .5 second cdr is worth less imo.

item 3069 / item 3092 / item 3401 depending on your champ = 10% item 3190 / item 3060 = 10% item 3222 = 10% item 3050 / item 3504 = 10%

capped without masteries taken into account.

And that's not even taking into account tank and mage items that supports (depending on champion) can use item 3165 item 3023 item 3110 item 3174 item 3065 .

As a support main, NOT overcapping is harder than getting enough CDR.

3tyson2 votes

i start my game with 25% cdr get boots and than im at 40% cdr meaning its over

item 3117 item 3111 item 1306 Are good support boot options (Mercurial means less downtime so you can use utility faster)

Swollwonder2 votes

item 3047 ..?

It Hertz When IP2 votes

It really only performs well if you can take a lot of AAs and still be standing. Tanky supports might like this, squishies like Nami and Janna won't though.

Sire Hippington2 votes

item 3117 are quite nice for most supps, considering that they should roam alot, and if it's only to place/clear wards. Defensive boots like item 3047 item 3111 are quite usefull aswell On mage supps, item 3020 can go a long way

not against the idea of either mana-aura or maby out-off-combat sustain-boots though

Maybe if they had boots with a low price that reduce cool down on active cool down. So nitch items would be more viable to them.
