If Riot starts to nerf mid champions because of an item again...

It will be ridiculous. I mean, Ahri was extremely OP after her rework, then she got nerfed. She had a pretty normal winrate after this until Luden's Echo came. It's not just Ahri. There is a lot of mid champion loves that item. It adds a lot of burst to champion.

They nerfed Syndra because of DFG, then removed it. See what happened. Now, if they nerf champions then nerf item I'm going to pretty sad to see this. I prefer nerfed item to over champions.

It became so popular on burst champions, even than Rabadon. Rabadon should have the most popular for AP - magical damage wise but it has been replaced by Luden's Echo.

Honestly I still go Rabadons after Morello on Ahri because without the extra ~30 AP you can't 1 shot the caster minions with your Q.

It's a nice 4th item pickup if you don't need Zhonyas though.

Item's passive actually one shots caster minions. There are 3 caster minions on a wave, passive has 4 charges.

They tend to proc on cannon and melees meaning I have to auto 4+ times per wave instead of ~3. The ludens charges pop off the first target hit which is usually the frontline, and it then pops to the 3 nearest targets.

You can AA, you can shot your spell to minions by side. There is a lot of way. One shooting minions is not better than one shooting champions. Luden's Echo early is strong than its late. You should have 1000 AP to reach base damage and early is a phase where everyone is squishy. 100 base damage is so strong for early but 200 not a thing for late game.

There's advantages to both but Ludens is not simply an "early game item." It doesn't fall off in damage at all.

Morello + Deathcap Ahri has about 325 AP after runes and masteries.
She has 70% scaling on her Q so that's 227.5 damage if it hits both ways.
She has 64% scaling on her W so that's 208 damage. She has 50% scaling on her E so that's 162.5 damage She has 90% scaling on her R so that's 292.5 damage

Total damage full combo = 890.5 from scaling (base damage not included)

Morello + Ludens Ahri has about 250 AP after runes and masteries. Q = 175 damage W = 160 damage E = 125 damage R = 225 damage Ludens = 100 + (.15)(250) = 137.5 damage

Total damage full combo = 822.5 from scaling + Ludens

So Rabadons is clearly better in an all in. Especially since it increases the true damage you deal while Ludens simply adds more magic damage. I also personally like it better because it makes farming easier for the reason I listed in my above post. The advantage of an early Ludens is that the proc damage is frontloaded so in poke situations where you use only your Q before backing off, you're getting about 75 more damage on your Q than a Rabadons build.

I highly doubt that their going to nerf Mid lane poke champs for a number of reasons.

a) The mana Regen nerfs did hurt them. They can't be uninteractive, AFK wave clear mages anymore.

b) Mid lane is not longer a farm lane. back in season 4, The Jungler might fork over the wraith camp to the mid laner to get them extra fed. They could get as much as 300 CS in 30 minutes. This was naturally good for poke and utility champs (namely ori) With the new season however, The (now razor backs) are on a longer respawn timer, and the Jungler is less likely to fork them over because of it's smite buff. So farm champs got pushed aside in favor of Assassins, who could make plays across the map right away.

c) Luden's is another leaver to balance wave clear mages around. This means that mana Regen is no longer the only thing balancing Siege mages (which is either too much or too little)

d) Luden's has brought back some AP off picks (notably corki and Kog'maw) And because they are viable, they probably won't nerf the item because of them.

Zed got nerfed recently. I always banned him. He hard counters adcs.

Like no joke, if the adc was alone, he's insta killed. If the adc camps tower alone, he dives. Insta-kill. If the adc split pushes, Insta-kill. Then, he teleports back while laughing.
