Ryze builds

Been playing Ryze a bunch lately, and really liking the champ. I haven't tried this build yet since Im at work, but thinking of trying it tomorrow, what do people think?

The Visage and WoTA will give Ryze 50% spell vamp when he ults. Morellos can be changed out with Rabadons for damage, depending or not if you are going against a high healing team (Voli, Janna, Sona etc). With his built in shield passive + spell vamp and decent damage....in theory he could be almost invincible in a good team fight.

Your build looks pretty interesting. You may have a hard time building that much mr especially against a ad lane. You don't have any magic pen either which will make your mid-late game really lackluster.

You are sacrificing a fair bit of damage from standard build ( item 3003 item 3111 item 3027 item 3157 item 3135 item 3089 ). And moving a toward how he was built before they nerfed his mana ratios and buffed his AP ratios. The extra spellvamp and MR will help, but probably not as much as the AP you are missing, and item 3165 has wasted CDR so it is probably only worth it if you want the grievous wounds. If you want to go survivability, you might be better with a straight-up pre-rework build like item 3003 item 3111 item 3027 item 3110 item 3065 item 3083 .
