I personally quit 3 months ago because how shitty the game got, I came here to show you a graph i found on LoL's playerbase

https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=League%20of%20Legends

As you can see its rapidly declining

That graph is a measurement of interest and utilzes how often the game is "searched". Most individuals who play league wouldnt "search" it because of how oftn they use the websites and therefore, bypass Google's search engine entirely. A more accurate graph would be on of popularity, illustrating the annual players.

RIOT hasn't published active player numbers in 2 years, so it's obvious that League is on the decline. The truth is that RIOT is only catering to their elite players and not placing enough attention on low elo players or even new players. Sad.

Sir and or madam you are completely wrong.

Riot is very clearly catering to lower tier players, and new players who want a more casual, friend based experience.

You think Dynamic Que is directed towards the elitists?

Dynamic Queue? The same dynamic queue that will place 5 bronze (yes, me and my friends are all bronze players) players against 3 silvers and 2 platinum players? Clearly catered.

Let's not forget the platinum or higher players who create smurf accounts for fun. Look on twitch how many Bronze to Diamond in one week challenges are streaming. Those games are not "fun".

RIOT hasn't published active player numbers in 2 years, so it's obvious that League is on the decline.

That is a fallacious argument. "They do not publish numbers, therefore, they are declining!" Alternatively it might be a different scenario "Our players are not capable of accurately interpreting our numbers and would only lead to distress."

The truth is that RIOT is only catering to their elite players and not placing enough attention on low elo players or even new players. Sad.

Provide a method of altering the game in a way that ONLY low ELO players benefit and not higher tier players? Ensure the method cannot be in anyway abused, or compromised, and may lead to distress of the customer base.

Its a very difficult question with hundreds of answers.

Best method? Gather more information.

What do low ELO players want specifically? Again, another hard question.

I am not defending RIOT, but I am stating the expectations of the consumer base, us, is often unfair.

Ironic how you answered my "fallacious argument" with irrelevant scenarios.

Your second point sounds a lot like an HR manager. "What would you like us to do? How would you change things?" Etc. If someone is complaining, it's the companies' job to figure out how to resolve the complaint.

Also, for someone who quit playing, you certainly are active on these message boards.

They retain the same relevancy as your statement regarding a declining population.
You have absolutely no data to back up your statement.

Your second point sounds a lot like an HR manager.

There is a reason they exist.

It is correct to state the companies responsibility is to attend to the needs of their player base. Thing is, they aren't psychic. Take a look at the boards, many of the statements are incredibly generic. "WE HATE DQ REMOVE IT!" "NERF X, BUFF Y!" "OMG ELO HELL! FIX IT!"

Many of the suggestions either

A. Don't cater to low ELO players as you complain. B. invoke universal changes.

Also, for someone who quit playing, you certainly are active on these message boards.

It helps me pass time during my vacation.

When a business fails to satisfy its customers, the business either changes to reflect their needs and desires or it goes out of business.

  1. The playerbase IS declining. The search results are not proof in and of themselves but I personally know many people who quit and people who are friends of friends who quit, always the same reasons too. Toxic players, too many changes, too much emphasis on the LCS, etc. The only way to prove the base isn't declining would be the release they've stopped around the exact same time the decline began kicking in on that graph. They can't cover it up, so, they simply won't respond. The players are quite capable of interpreting the numbers as a company that has lost touch.

  2. Right now, higher ELO players have the bragging rights, the streams, the special ask a main features, etc.. what do players who are good in gold and under get? Nothing. I'm unranked this season, but even if I was Gold 1 you think for a second I'd be asked to handle an Ask A Gnar Main Q&A? Of course not, they'd want a diamond or up. LCS youtube videos are literally all over the client and this learn to be a pro push by Riot is beyond annoying, its actually making the client nearly unusable with all this crap being stuffed on it. Lower ELO players get the weekend game modes they have no say in and no vote for which comes first, and that's about it. Higher ELO players should have to play every month in lower ELO, it might give them a well-deserved slice of humble pie to see how some of us have to compete without getting our role, our champ, and competent teammates every game.

  3. What do most players want? The answers are all over the board:

  • Team Builder to return
  • Ending Dynamic Queue
  • Doing something to stop randomly matched solo players from facing off against premade teams of three or higher
  • Extra rune/mastery pages
  • Extra bans for draft modes
  • Their champions not to be changed every six months on a whim

Honestly, the boards aren't the only way to get the information but usually people post a variety of those points every day and yet, nobody does a thing to satisfy them. The technology exists right now for Team Builder to be put up immediately, for new rune/mastery pages, for the extra bans, but is it done? No.
