Orianna needs nerfs.

HateDaddy··118 votes·5,573 views

She does too much damage and her ult needs a significant cooldown increase. You know it's bad when she uses her ult to harass you in lane.

I don't know what you guys are thinking anyway, it's not October yet.

Ah, we've come full circle. I remember when Ori was considered one of the most balanced champs when I started playing. But everyone else has been nerfed so I guess it's her turn.

Literally what just happened to Ahri. Fine for years, suddenly everything better got nerfed, the circlejerk came for her, and she's got nerfs inbound.

Fisher No Chains20 votes

I think you should stop defending Ahri so hard.

She's busted and instead of crying for "excessive nerfs", just adapt like everyone when their main gets nerfed.

I play Ahri myself and honestly think she needs nerfs, even though I can agree with some people about the fact that her damage isn't really an issue (and imo, is quite low compared to other mages' burst). But we all know how balance team works: nerf everything except the problem.

AmazoX17 votes

Agreed, Orianna does way too much damage for how much utility she has.

She has way too much of both, Nerf the damage part.

Who is Taliyah13 votes

That's been the main reason for why Lissandra was nerfed in season 3. And it was good.

RainbowIcee7 votes

As someone that plays her I rather they nerf her utility honestly you don't want another mage to become a full time support, and i definitely don't.

Oakleaf Ranger8 votes

Her mana costs are way too high for support.

Shrek Luigi15 votes

She's not as OP as many people are making her out to be.

She is outranged by a majority of the midlane mage pool and has a highly difficult lane phase. The mages she doesn't outrange literally can crank out double the DPS output she can. The incentive for choosing her, in spite of this, is strong teamfighting.

If anything, the one place they should consider tuning her down--if at all--is the amount of armor she gives to other players when passing them the ball. She's sitting at a 50% WR across the board and tuning her down even a bit on the offensive-front will dumpster her.

I've thought of her as too strong for a very long time now tbh, it amazes me when people say she is the most balanced champ.

Unvictus8 votes

She's legit been a strong pick in the pro scene for every damn season. I think her time in a spotlight is long over!

Chaos Milk Tea4 votes

Its in riots best interest to keep her relevant. Unlike some other strong champions, she doesn't have a toxic play pattern. In fact, she is one of the most fair champions to lane against. Every ability is telegraphed by the ball.

Unvictus11 votes

Being consistently zoned from cs is fair? It's one thing for champs to have situational and or temporary zoning tools such as TF gold card or Yasuo tornado (which the time at which he can hold on to it is getting nerfed for that reason), but she can zone you constantly. No conditions, no time limit, nothing.. She controls the pace of the lane and takes away the agency of her laner by constantly zoning (specifically against melee champs).

A lot of the hate for Orianna revolves around her high amount of both damage and utility. A lot of other comments in the thread so far speak to her low ult cooldown and how it is often used as a nuke and that the cc it provides is just icing on the cake. Something has to change. Either lower her damage or her utility. Nerfing her damage seems to be the concensious from what I'm seeing.

Riot has taken a stance as of recently for being against generalist picks. Orianna is the definition of a generalist pick for mages. She is a super safe pick that can fit into almost every single team comp and is often used as a blind pick in the pro scene because of how safe she is.

nope. don't reduce her damage.

her laning is too strong. her shield and passive are way too strong tools to lane with. she outlanes everyone besides syndra. assassins don't work against her. not much does.

again. I've played against oriannas level or two behind in lane. they still outtrade you. simply if you ever get in melee range as an assassin. she shields herself. speeds up and autos you to death.

passive needs nerfs early. and her shield should be nerfed early game. but don't nerf her damage. I don't think her damage is out of line compared to other mages.

again. i don't think her damage is a problem. I think the ability to lane so well and cs so safely is too strong. she can shove and punish your ass so badly. at the same time if you ever engage on her. its even worse. because you didn't engage on her. you're just giving her a good window to kill you. its really dumb. its like fighting gnar with two long swords on you early in lane. that if he had a shield

I don't mind orianna being good. I think her kit is far more beneficial to the game than it is detrimental. She enables many champions who'd otherwise be mostly useless. However, she does far too much on her own. She's strong in lane, strong outside of lane and her ult alone will one shot a squishy late game. Ori needs to be picked for her utility and safety without having the added bonus of gibbing enemy teams being a constant.

Voluug1312 votes

That is literally the recipe for killing her midlaning and shoehorning her into support.

She is a midlaner mage above all.

What mid laner can aoe CC teams while giving their teammates shields, resists, movement speed etc? Accompany that with a formidable lane phase and being one of the safest champions and I think you'll find this is not synonymous with being a mid laner.

zilean does all that minus resist/shield unless you take windspeakers

Morgana literally sounded like you were describing her xD but yeah Ori is pretty strong right now.

I wonder if Lux will go out of control since she has pretty decent utility and with the last buffs she received once she gets ahead she stays ahead, once ori gets nerfed ofc

A strong Ori cuts a carries hp down to like 30% with just QW.

Fairyfleur4 votes

Yes, a strong Orianna. Can't many fed or ahead carries chunk you?

Dream High7 votes

Shes oppressive in lane from lvl 1 because then she can start spamming her ball on you to punish you every time. High play rate in solo q and a staple in esport.

Voluug132 votes

She can only do this against melee assassins since her range nerfs like 50 years ago.

Every ranged midlaner outranges her enough so they can out trade her rather easily.

People say that Orianna has a weak early but imo it isn't true. She just isn't as strong early as she is in mid-late. But she still isn't weak early game.

Voluug132 votes

She is only strong early against melee assassins, everyone else outranges her AA range and Q range (from where her early power comes from). At level 6 melee assassins dumpster her anyways, so I dont see the problem with this.

RFPSHBYQl72 votes

Assassins dumpster her anyway. Yes when Orianna misses her ultimate + isn't that the point of assassins anyway? Deleting squishy targets fast.

Ralanr5 votes

You know something is up when she isn't even using her ult for the CC it provides...as has been my experience for with every goddamn Orianna I've fought recently.

AmazoX5 votes

And when her ult is up, The zoning is not even funny + the damage.

TyrekGoldenspear15 votes

Most Oris I see use it as a nuke.

The CC is just a neat bonus.

GULAG 4 U5 votes

Her ult also deals ridiculous amounts of damage in a huge AOE area, it's fucking bullshit

Mannny4 votes

Any champion that can harass early game like she does and still dominate most matchups late game needs clear cut nerfs.

Wait, so Perkz did not tilt when he would randomly use Orianna's ultimate on Faker?

Wait, so Perkz did not tilt when he would randomly use Orianna's ultimate on Faker?

No lol

Her level 1 ult has a decent cooldown but her level 3 ult has an 80 sec cooldown, 44 sec with 45% CDR. She has so much power at every point in the game and it feels excessively difficult to exploit her at any point.

Jinzo Torrance7 votes

Yeah, I know that, I also don't know why the cooldown on such a strong teamfight ultimate is so low when similar ultimates have 120-100 seconds and deal relatively low damage since they're on more tanky champions and not on a burst mage, it's just that I found strange the he would use it against only one champion with no follow up after it.
