Why are people so obsessed with the meta?

Like, if you don't play just like everyone else, you're trash. I enjoy playing Gnar ADC, right? But if I ever hover him, it gets banned by my own team, and half the time I lock in people freak out or dodge.

But... this season I have a 65% WR with a 5.44:1 KDA (20 games so far as it), preseason I had stats similar to this season (with damn near 60 games), and least season I had a 56% WR with a 4.08:1 KDA.

That doesn't matter though, since Gnar ADC isn't meta. My teammates accuse me of trolling, and my support will half the time just give up and troll me out of spite.

What is it with League and this cookie cutter mentality? It's worse than any MMO I've played, and they're notorious for that.

Mostly because it's the "strongest content of the game on this moment", and this concept is also hardly pushed by Riot (see the state of adcs)

Because you're not playing "off meta" you're playing off role and why should I be forced to auto lose the game because you wanted to have fun? Why should I and 3 other people be forced to play around your selfishness?

Meta have never changed for majority ofertas the playerbase (below plat), just play whatever you are good for.

Because the current balance does not allow for non-meta picks. The only time those picks even look decent are in small sample sizes and that is nothing more than an illusion created by the small sample size.
