Oh yes "mage update/buffs"

Just one thing though, here at riot we want to ensure fairness and as such we will remove spellvamp, while life steal on ad champions still exist for balance reasons. Also, we understand those mages are soooo strong against a lot of matchups so we are going to go ahead and give three options of mr per game so we can ensure a great game of equal oppurtunity. Seriously riot it is like a slap in the face as a mage main to see this. I loved spell vamp, it made things fair to items such as ravenous hydra, bloodthirster, deaths dance, and more! Oh but wait, since it was too op we lost the only life steal item for ap mages. Mages get zhonyas , great item dont get me wrong. But it isnt fair for an ad champion to rush a hex drinker and suddenly get unkillable .And that isnt even the only mr item for ad champions, seriously! These mage updates arent even really buffs. Cass got a damn nerf ffs. Like what is happening

Riot said multiple times that buffing was not an intent of the changes.

Yes but they didn't say multiple times that incompetence was.

Right because mages totally didnt need buffs

i think you are missing the point

the mage update was never meant to make mages "Better" strength wise

its only purpose was to give the mages that lacked a unique identity have one as well as getting rid of any unhealthy aspects of them (since most of the champs are a bit semi outdated)

brand= seems like a burning fire man who spreads the harder he burns zyra = better plant zone controlling malz= more void ish and more potential with voidlings velkoz= more incentive to use his q for geometry and also more power put into deconstruction vlad= removed unhealthy aspects with his old e as well as make him more power crazy with more ways of healing himself through skills cass= more in touch with her poison self and the feeling of hurting them from the inside (better poison dmg potential+ grounded mechanic)

was it perfect in terms of numbers? no do they still need some changes in terms of numbers? yes (hence why they are doing hotfixed as well as a followup in the next patch) Did they give these champions cemented themes? absolutely

Agreed brands lane bully power is nerfed but his teamfight is a lot more explosive now if a champion seems too op about a week or two from now they will tune some of the numbers on a champ,

I think WOTA was removed because it just synergized too well with vlads kit so other mages couldn't get spellvamp buffs cause vlad would be FOTM and since they removed it he now is more open to build other items instead of always depending on getting to WOTA first item

No, i believe you are missing the point of my post. I was stating that they needed buffs. Many mages struggled because there were other champions that could do their job, better. Literally the majority of champs they touched on, didn't need to be touched. Velkoz, still spams everything anyways for 20 mana. Zyra, yeah her rework was needed so ill give riot that one. Cass did NOT need to be touched like that. She is so weak right now, it is simply sad. She was once my go-to to punish people for mistakes. Now I don't even want to play her (Noting that I own almost all of her skins is annoying now that I don't enjoy playing her) Her W can be terrain blocked. Her e cooldown is a little on the long side considering it is her damage output in a nutshell. Her q is just frustrating to use and feels odd now. Her passive, WHY. Why even touch her passive? Now it is absolutely awful. If they were going off the idea that snakes can't actually effectively use boots then they should have buffed her speed a lot more considering how fast snakes are irl, that is just my take on it. She is still super slow and immobile. You say they want to get rid of unhealthy aspects? Hello? Tank meta anyone? Are we forgetting that more and more champions are abusing the tank meta? But yet that remains untouched because it is healthy, right? I don't even know what you mean by cemented theme? There are still mages without a niche. I love how they neglect a few. cough ryze cough but what can i say, better nerf irelia.

like i said there are followup patches for a reason as well as a confirmed hotfix

riot has even said cass is on the weak side and they are looking at her

dont use your main being weak after the update as a reason that the whole update was a failure when they are looking at followup buffs just be patient

Cass isn't my main at all, I just loved her play style and they ruined it. I am not sure what good the pbe is, if they release these patches so willy nilly. The majority of the update as a whole, could have been better. That was the point.

They just hate Cassie and don't want people to play her......

Maybe they thought it was more humane than nerfing it.

Only few champs used spellwamp ,like vlad, akali. So it"s not a big deal.

Succubús GF1 votes

I used it on morg, cass, akali, katarina, sometimes ryze and more champions. It is a big deal if they deleted it,.

Bobloser35551 votes

true but you can still use the runes like I do.

Nilok1 votes

People used spell vamp on select champions because spell vamp was so heavily nerfed due to those champions it was only viable on them.

The only thing the MYMU completly, absolutely failed, is on making Seeker's a good item to rush, like its AD counterpart Hexdrinker.

Yep, maybe riot is a little biased.

Today I had a one for all game and got my lane opponent down to about 100 hp he ran back to tower, then I thought hey I can just flash and kill him with my E, then I remember that my E doesn't deal damage unless he is poisoned. Sure I could have tried to flash Q+E but chances that it would go right was too slim to use up my flash.

I'd guess its the burst heal they don't like.

They nerfed the hell out of life steal a while back too, for the same reasons. Sustained health over time isnt as big of an issue for them

In a lot of ways the mage update seems like it was done in a bubble. Like the only champions they play tested them against were other mages. When i've played against other mages, unganked by the jungle, they feel very much balanced. Outside of that it seems like 0 consideration was given for anything other than that very specific, almost non-existent, scenario.

That is some what expected. the PBE was never a good enough place to test major balance changes, due to the small portion of the player base they actually are. And then everyone on the PBE wanted to try out the changes themselves, rather than play the same old same old. So it would make sense if most of their balancing data was based around those champs, because they had higher than normal pick rate.

They can make changes when they actually get more data from the masses.

It's called Mid Year Mage UPDATE. Let me tell you that one more time. Update. Most likely, riot didn't want to release monsters like that did with the adc reworks, so they went for the undertuned side. Hopefully they'll watch champs like cass and make sure she gets the buffs she needs.
