So we are nerfing Thornmail, Omen, Frozen heart, and Dead Man's all on the same patch. Part 2.

Since Reddit blows I have to make a part 2 because responses just get lost to the Reddit. ANYWAY.

So when we last left off Rioter #14 asserted that because we were nerfing all armor items we were going to have to nerf Dead Man's too. I'mma call it DA from now on to save space.

First off, I don't even know why that was an opinion to have in the first place. We're nerfing all armor items so we nerf DA? Well... no. Sunfire isn't getting nerfed. Ohmwrecker isn't getting nerfed. Hourglass isn't getting nerfed. "But Hourglass isn't a tank item!" you say. Well, neither is DA. DA is pretty clearly a bruiser/juggernaut item. If you want DA for tanks you get RG which helps you perform your role a lot better. What's more, you might say "but sunfire isn't getting nerfed cause it's weak anyway!" And you're right. So why are we nerfing DA? Because it's strong? I reassert that literally the only people I've seen build DA are... me. Me alone. I'm the only one.

But doesn't this speak entirely to the problem at Riot? They don't know the difference between melee. They go "NERF TANKS, RIOT SMASH MELEE!" And non-tank items get caught in the cross fire. Frozen heart, Thornmail, Omen, don't those items all seem familiar? And then... DA. Why DA? It's not even in the same spectrum as the other items. Unfortunately when it comes to Riot their classes are ADC, Mage, support, and melee. Which tank is building DA? Are we going to see DA on Maokai? On Nautilus? Are we going to see DA on Gnar? Gnar seems the only feasible one, and he totes the line between bruiser and tank.

So here we have an item being nerfed cause "fuck melee champions." That's what it boils down to. We aren't nerfing armor items or we'de see Hourglass getting nerfed. We aren't nerfing tank items or we'de see sunfire getting nerfed. In fact, we aren't only nerfing armor items at all since Cinderhulk is getting nerfed. DA is basically Riot doing a sweeping "fuck melee" pass and a rather niche bruiser item is getting caught in the cross fire. My only question is why? Does Riot REALLY not understand the difference between tank and bruiser?

What's worse is Riot keeps spouting nonsense about diversity in itemization (which btw, melee have the most diversity of any the "classes" and that's not even arguable) while at the same time slapping down an item that actually WAS going to lead to strategic diversity. And the best part is, as seen in the last thread, THE ITEM HAS BEEN OUT FOR A FUCKING WEEK. How the fuck do you release an item and a week later go "oh it was too strong, but not WAY too strong... it was like 5 armor too strong. Yeah. Not 10 armor too strong, nono, jsut 5 armor too strong." And you'll say "oh it's just 5 armor get over it" but it's not the fact that it's 5 armor, it's the fact that Riot has seen fit to nerf it at all.

Almost any item could survive a minor hit. People would still build IE at 75 damage. Hourglass at 45 armor would be fine. Yet we nerf DA which is an incredibly niche and almost never built item just cause "fuck melee"? It's absurd to me man. It's like the icing on top of a shit sandwich that is the armor nerf patch.

WHY DA? Why not sunfire? Why not Hourglass? Why is DA being singled out? Rioter #14 is going to say "oh well I have nothing to do with that team." Well then can we get a member from that team to give us a reaosn why? And not a "well it's an armor nerf patch." CAuse it's not.

well...the first question still is - why nerf armor at all?

Plot twist: Next patch after this will have nerfs to LW, BORK, IE, and a new item building off brutalizer.

I agree with you. It doesnt make sense to just nerf an item that has been out on summoners rift 1 week just because they are nerfing all the other core armour items.

It just doesnt make sense to nerf ALL armour when item 3035 exists in its current iteration and not to mention everyone and their mother is being geared to handle Tanks in particular with true damage or free penetration in abilties.

Honestly they should have just stopped at item 3075 nerf.
