Nidalee is the single, most frustrating champion to play against who lacks sufficent counterplay.

Nidalee has been a problematic champion before and after her gameplay update. She's been a tough champion to balance from day one due to the functionality of her kit. Pre-rework, she was the ultimate poker. She could stand back at 1200 range and chuck full range spears, often one shotting an adc/apc or support. Her mobility and healing allowed for her to heal back poke, just in case she was in range and her mobility allowed her to elude all in engages, which is supposed to counter her play style. This playstyle was deemed toxic by a large majority of the community and Riot agreed. She was reworked. Rework nidalee emphasized her AD build, while discouraging the"AP spear chucking" build. Her AD build was just as toxic as her AP build. She could run to lane and bully out any melee from level 1. Her damage, while building tanky, was absurd. She could poke in lane with human form. It was easy to place traps/hit a spear in order to gain the "hunt" passive, which allowed for her to have a free 500 range gap closer, with damage similar to a Garen ultimate, all for a measly > than 100 mana. She's essentially resourceless, like Riven/Renekton, has more lane sustain than a Garen and bursts as hard as a Riven. Now, she's back to the AP spear chucking build, but now if she lands a spear, she can engage on you with her absurd, no cost mobility and assassinate you. This is not healthy design and it is not fun to play against at all. Her ability pool, as it stands now, completely contradicts the balance principles that Riot has stated multiple times over the course of the past few seasons, to name a few (Champions need to pay for mobility, windows of opportunity/weakness need to be defined, clear strengths/weaknesses) Nidalee needs changes and a clear identity. Here are my proposed changes:

  1. Add a ramp up cost on her q (spear). This is also known as the "kog'maw" treatment. Make her pay for sitting back and chucking spears. Like Kog'maw, ramp up the mana cost per spear used within x amount of seconds. This allows for Nidalee players to make strategic decisions, rather than midnlessly spam spears from 11 range. Dodging spears is sufficient counterplay, but when the mana cost is negligible and the risk of chucking spears is already low, it creates a toxic, unhealthy gameplay style with the fact that at least 1 of those 10 spears is going to hit somebody and Nidalee only uses maybe 40% of her mana pool.
  2. Rework/remove her heal. There is no reason a champion with as much range/mobility as Nidalee should also have sustain. One of her "weaknesses" is hard engage, but when she's mobile enough to avoid many hard engages, she shouldn't also have the ability to heal 35/40% of her HP after she's been engaged upon. She already has the tools necessary to avoid hard engages with her mobility/poke/traps that grant vision, there is no need for free HP sustain.
  3. Add mana costs to her Cougar form. By adding a mana cost to her cougar form, that allows for counterplay. If she's low on mana? That's fine, she won't be able to pounce away for free, you have an open opportunity to engage on her and take her down. This provides a much needed weakness for Nidalee.

I'd like to have a discussion about her. She needs a lot of work in order for her to be balanced and fun to play as and against. She's the most frustrating champion to play against and I think 1 of these 3 changes would be sufficient to bring her in line with Riot's balance goals.

The kogmaw treatment doesn't make sense on Nidalee because it's easier to dodge, has a longer cooldown and gets blocked by minions. The problem with the two skills is also different - Kog's just whittles you down after multiple hits, while Nidalee can miss a lot but only needs one to connect for kill potential. In this way, I don't think the kogmaw treatment would fix the problem.

Heal removal sounds the most reasonable out of the 3 suggestions.

Mana costs on cougar could work, but because Nid's hunt mechanic already counts on her casting in both forms, you'd need to lighten up the mana costs on her human form, I expect. Also, this would probably put us back to the problem with old Nid, where all she does is spend her mana on spears.

I personally would just nerf her damage or her hunt bonuses. If Riot intends for Nid to be a combo caster built around hunt, then the skills she has outside of hunt need to be less satisfying than most. If her skills are supposed to be strong of their own right, then Riot should take a look at how much power the hunt bonus is adding. I still like how the rework encourages Nidalee to engage and make herself vulnerable, but I think it's clear she's a bit overtuned atm.

she's not bad. I enjoy when the other team picks her because i just ignore her mostly and our team just starts taking towers.
