How much power should one person have on the game?

I have long hated the idea of a single person being able to carry games. The idea that if you are "skilled" enough you should be able to win the game for your team, even if your team is out matched and out played. I have also always been baffled by people who are for this idea, why play a multiply player game if you want the ability to play and win that game without having to interact with your team.

I also see carrying always seeming to fall into 4 categories:

  1. you are carrying; it doesn't matter that your teammates are losing their lanes and can't win a team fight, try as the other team might you are "so good" that your team wins and they have you (and only you) to thank for it.

  2. You are being carried; This one is kind of weird, you are happy that you are winning but you also wonder if you should be. Since you are clearly being outplayed by the enemy and would clearly have lost if it wasn't for that one teammate who got ahead then snowballed.

  3. you are watching a carry happen; You aren't playing this game but you are watching a match and can clearly see that one team is winning and 80% of that is coming from a single character. You maybe question the fairness of a game where a single player is so powerful that they are favored to win a 1v3, and have decent odds in the 1v4.

  4. you are playing against the carry; (insert 10-15 curses) are you kidding me. We have the better top, the better mid, AND the better bot lane. And we are still losing because their jungle is insane this match. Yours isn't bad, but theirs is on a whole different level. (in some cases you may trade jungle for mid lane with regards to who is carrying the game).

It seems we are moving away from this issue, and to that i say thank god finally, but we have a similar but different version of the issue that remains. "one player can no longer win you the game, but one player sure can still lose you the game" We have reached a point where the team aspect of this team game is becoming more important, however there is still a huge problem where you can have 4 good players and still get WRECKED because someone died 10 times within the first 20 mins.

They have incredible power, but only for losing. One player doesn't have a lot of power for winning, but they sure as hell have an amazing amount of player to lose. It only takes one player to troll or intentionally mess up the game to lose, but to win, it takes a lot more than just one person.
