The Riven changes - Riot finally giving in to whining kids

AquariusGine··8 votes·874 views

Riven is losing her assassin attribute for a more fighter-y playstyle.

And all of these changes were made simply because Riot decides to give in to whiny kids who refuse to understand a champion's weakness.

@Riot, You're removing one of the game's most unique AND FUN playstyle and turning the champion into a generic fighter. What about emphasizing weaknesses to make each champion fill a niche role?

Riven HAS CLEAR weaknesses

  1. No lane sustain, poke champions will drive her out of lane
  2. A Riven that falls behind will find it almost impossible to catch up. She falls behind much easier than other assassins.
  3. She absolutely cannot teamfight. CC wrecks her to shit. What did I hear? Riven 1v5? That's because you let her snowball out of control. Assassins will run you over if you let them snowball. That is what they do. Don't fight someone who is 2 levels ahead dumbass.

And honestly she is easier to gank and be kept down that Leblanc or Zed.

Her strengths?

  1. Dueling. And no she can't outduel Xin, Yi, Jax, Udyr, Shy, Tryn, .. . .
  2. Splitpushing, yet she doesn't chunk towers as fast as Zed or anyone for that matter because she doesn't build attack speed aside from Youmuu.
  3. Mobility. With sufficient vision, she's easier to zone out and target than Leblanc. If she uses her Q to get close, she loses a heck ton of damage.

When's the last time someone wrote a proper thread on why Riven deserves changes? Compare her to Vayne and Devourer. The only ones are ''gut that shit''. I hope you whiners are happy, because anything that is slightly challenging to deal with is BROKEN OP BROKEN OP.

I say they nerf her even more and remove her shield all together

Vayne nerf is for literally the same reason. Vayne has plenty of counterplay. When a champion is widely disliked, nerfs generally follow. Except for LeeSin.

  1. Her second back (first if she does well in lane/gets a kill, which happens pretty often because her level 1 - 3 kill potential) she'll have a Hydra. At that point she's sustaining more than a farming Nasus.

  2. Really? Because once she has a single item (again, hydra) she has so many AD steroids she can still snow-ball the shit out of squishier champions and get plenty of kills. Usually all she has to do is roam mid, get off her Q combo and windslash and she has a kill on a squishy mid-laner. Couple that with the fact she is extremely mobile, making her probably one of the best roamers in game She even has a kit that allows her to poke her enemies and get away unscathed...AS A MELEE.

  3. You act like her Q has a long CD. She has a roughly 7 second CD on her Q once she gets CDR (which all Rivens do) that begins at the start of her combo, so by the time she finishes her face-roll combo it's off CD again. Not that she needs her Q's, the knock up is nice but she has enough AD steroid (the part they're fixing/nerfing) she can slash away at you and still melt your health.

If you think Riven falls behind go watch any respectable Riven player's streams. I've watched them time and time again get utterly creamed in lane, (talking going 0-3-0,) leaving lane, and coming back to lane with 2 - 4 kills because if you don't have multiple hard CC or aren't a tank, she's going to kill you. Inevitably getting 10+ kills, minimum, by end-game. Because all Riven has to do is throw her ult at the back line and she's forced them out of the fight or she and her team are getting kills.

  1. Only if she got a few kills and snowballed

  2. I do agree she is one of the best roamers and teleport users in the game. But in lane there are many champions that counter her (hard).

  3. Riven needs to do her Auto attack cancel with Q to do respectable damage. Her only methods of doing so is, flash or depending on teammates to CC the target long enough.

If you recall her bursting you in 1second with no counterplay, that's because you and your team let her snowball

Her ult does really little damage if you don't use it as an execute. You don't ult the backline and they are forced to back.. not to mention the recent projectile speed nerf makes it really difficult to hit any backline

Don't just list her strengths, talk about her weaknesses too

Care to name a few? Because she counters almost every single champion in game in the laning phase aside from Garen and Renekton .

These changes are not bad. Except Riven gains edge ONLY when she hits enemy champion with Runic Blade passive proc.

when its riven its "giving into whining kids" when its vayne its not. even though vayne can be easily countered

EDIT: Very Toxic Jinx posted this before me, it is very refreshing to find at least someone smart. some faith restored

I was wondering, will her new Ult make her a decent teamfighter? Since its damage scales on Edge rather than maximum health now.

It could potentially deal a nice chunk of AoE damage

Good, good...

what are you talking about? first of all riven is primary a fighter not an assassin, she is secondary assassin. Now about the lack of sustain lol! The shield can save her even if she has 10 hp. SHe has tons of cc and escape tools and she deals tons of dmg plus the shield, plus the ulti to scale with max health? and all that without any cost! U kidding me? I say nerf her more!

Hey, why don't you join the other crybabies who threatened to quit LoL?

Goodbye asshole :D I love seeing those button-mash-cancer mains crying like babies. Their tears are delicious.

We will be happier with a riven main less on the game :D
