Need some Varus help

I'm attempting to play MM more since no one wants to. And while he's not a top tier ADC (neither am I), I really like Varus.

I'll take any advice I can get, but my real question remains around build-order. I feel like I should rush Essence Reaver, but with no LS, or AS I'm wondering if that's the right move. The other issue is boots. I feel like AS really helps Varus with CS because of his passive, but I assume the better bet is the CDR boots.

Currently I build:

AS boots
Essence Reaver
Hurricane
BT
IE
Death's Dance

Again, any advice you can offer to this novice ADC is greatly appreciated.

I like a poke/siege based build personally.

item 3006 item 3004 ( <- Optional), item 3508 item 3094 item 3072 item 3036

Rapid Firecannon and Q provide a significant amount of poke, the build provides a lot of AD and CDR, and you sustain through sieges quite well.

Depends on what you want from him and how you want to build him. I'd say there's generally 3 ways to build him:

Full Caster Varus: item 3042 item 3158 item 3142 item 3812 item 3036 item 3026 very heavily emphasizes his long range poke with Q, using Muramana and Ghostblade to give him short bursts of damage in a mid range fight.

Traditional ADC Varus: item 3508 item 3006 item 3094 item 3072 item 3033 item 3026 loses out on some poke but gains better general mid-to-close-range combat stats.

AP Varus: item 3006 item 3115 item 3146 item 3100 item 3135 item 3089 loses out on nearly all long range poke to heavily emphasize triple-auto > ability cadence and massive health shred.

There's a lot of preference involved imo but there's nothing wrong with your build order or anything... Prolly wanna rush ER and at least pick up a crit cloak before boots just to get some cdr stacked up quick. AS isn't bad on him but if you want stronger poke you can focus on AD and armor pen.
