Rammus needs buffs

Seriously, despite having the strongest armor/mr buff on a tank meta, he sees 0 play. Can we please do something for him?

Rammus should wreck a vayne, especially if he gets a thornmail and taunts her.

Phil Fly10 votes

silver bolts. sorry bud.

I Main Swain3 votes

actually, he would wreck her since half of his armor is converted to ad.

Troll for Trump5 votes

If he is with another person=dead vayne. Otherwise it is unlikely to be able to 1v1 a vayne.

Anidan1 votes

Which isn't saying a ton since she's a duelist. Most people lose a 1v1 to Vayne, it's how she rolls. But yeah, it is true: A rammus would set up a very easy Vayne kill, as would Fiddlesticks.

Troll for Trump2 votes

vayne loses to assassins, nasus, garen(sorta), darius, and a few other tanks. Burst mages hurt her too, as well as other duelists. Tanks are supposed to be tanky. They should be able to take a lot of hits, not be blown up by a vayne in a few seconds due to max hp true damage. Perhaps a rework for her could be in order. Plx percentage max hp as true dmg+ bas dmg was a horrible idea.

Anidan7 votes

Just remove the base damage. Letting her bust tanks is fine - letting her bust squishies better than tanks is not.

Not everything needs a rework.

Troll for Trump2 votes

Some champs have always been toxic being vayne and fizz. Riven was like that too but her OPness revolved around the insane scaling(mainly her E). Trynd was like that too, I forgot what happened to him but hes still funaf. Vayne, ok fine, just nerf her(srsly stop making her "Ha! I condemned a squishy and now they die without any chance to interact!") Same with Fizz and his untargebility.

I Main Swain1 votes

i have reaaaaally mixed feelings about tryn. i mean, i love him with all my soul (first and favorite main) and i know his weaknesses and strengths and how to expose them in most players, but at the same time he's so rediculously strong if he gets ahead or stays even. i blame crit

Troll for Trump1 votes

crit is a derpy mechanic but can't be removed without breaking the game. Love playing trynd, you are 0/5 and can still 1v3.

Axis the Dragon1 votes

Trynd's ult back in the day was like, twice the duration for half the cooldown

Also his Q scaled massively with AP so AP Splitpush Trynd was a thing

Troll for Trump1 votes

exactly. Rabadon Trynd Op :D

vayne shouldent lose to a nasus unless theres a decent skill gap. Can easily poke him out in lane and keep him to low to farm efficiently. Even when not super far ahead as long as you can kite effectively you should have no problem laning aginst a nasus or at least preventing his farm as a ranged damage champion. ESPECIALLY with devourer vayne gaining popularity for true damage every 2 hits.

Troll for Trump1 votes

I wasn't referring to laning phase. Very few vayne's build devourers, but if vayne is jungle and you haven't won by then you're fked anyways. Im talking bout lategame nasus. He withers you as you attack thornmails prock and he obliterates you in 3 hits.

Yxgl222HaX1 votes

A nasus should almost never build a thorn mail in the first place unless they have like 3 ADC's. And its not just a vayne. Nasus is so easy to kite around. Picking nasus into a team with a kalista that knows what their doing is also never a good idea, and every midlaner has like 2342940987089 escapes. But its true that if nasus reaches about 500 stacks or more he becomes a threat that just cant be ignored... but thats why you just don't let that happen. All the time when top laners lose lane against a nasus they try to roam for kills... but youre feeding him all the same just by not being there to stop his farm. Nasus is a champion that should only work if there is a clear gap in skill due to the transpariancy of his playstyle. If you absolutely have to leave a nasus top then you should be grouping to push teamfight number advantage on objectives around the map instead to get a team gold lead. The nasus will either be forced to help his team, losing farm or his team should lose other objectives from being out numbered

Troll for Trump1 votes

A lot of mid champs actually don't have a shiit ton of escapes. Perhaps you have fizz-itis?

You don't need 3 ADCs to build thornmail. With the devourer's meta it's good against the ADC and the devourer jglers, as well as being nice against any AA champ. During lategame you should get thornmails just to make sure you can get even with the vayne.

Meep Man4 votes

Rammus needs a different passive. One that matches the current power level of passives in the game. 25% armor to AD is actually not all that good, especially on an AP scaling character.

agbudar1 votes

then you realize that when you build 400 armor you get 100 ad on top of your normal ad thats like the same any other bruiser/adtank would get.

i would prefer if all of his skils are based on armor stats instead of ap.

ElJanitorFrank2 votes

Building 400 armor is rarely a smart decision, your entire enemy team would need to be AD champions to make it worth while. And his attack speed is so dreadfully slow that 100 ad isn't very much at all, and that's the only way he can put the AD to use.

Very Hard Engage3 votes

he cant do anything outside of flash taunt a carry, or flank a carry. he doesn't bring much else.

his jungle clear speeds are some of the worst in league, it takes him forever to kill any of the large minions without smite.

he either needs a rework or a longer range on his taunt so that he can actually stack CDR and throw out taunts.

His ult could AoE taunt for a second or so. He seriously need his Q damage reverted and bonus damage on his W against monsters. Maybe a passive buff too.

Lugg2 votes

I like your idea of increasing the range on his taunt. It would make him SO much more valuable in game.

Cloud2733 votes

We should be able to increase his clear times without increasing his damage (to champions). His damage is in an ok spot, but he loses so much health while jungling (especially early game) it makes it difficult for him to gank. Make it so his 'w' and his 'e' do extra damage to monsters, but not champions.

SlampieceHawke3 votes

I doubt they'd give him any love. The very second he ever starts to do well he gets over nerfed. Taunt too long? We're nerfing that to the ground. We wont give him the same nerf treatment every other champ in league is getting ( which I like to call slap on the wrist gradual nerfs, EX: old skill 12/15/19/24 new skill 10/14/19/24) . Even after the taunt nerf rammus players are doing good? K lets nerf his Q cooldown to the freaking ground too. Riot hates rammus.

Also keep in mind that his jungle clear has always been shit. I was always willing to deal with that as rammus at least HAD the strength of constant lane pressure terrorization, but now he doesn't. Sure, his ganks are great so long as the enemy team doesn't respect his roll speed and ward appropriately, however a lot of the time they do respect it and that's why his pre nerf q was fine in my eyes and not op at all. Sure, he can get the post q cooldown lowered by leveling it, but no rammus player in their right mind levels q before e/w/r.

Thanks for nerfing my beloved champ to oblivion rito. Rito, you blow dogs for quarters. I know you're butt buddies with other champs who you just give slap on the wrist nerfs to (like the aoe shredding jinx for starters). Honestly, gradual nerfs are actually the way to go. I just hate how you reds didn't give the same treatment to rammus. rant over

Riot:"we've always felt that AP xin zhao was too good"

Yes, by all means nerf Ap xin zhao for no apparant reason. No one will go devourer's+ap xin =.=

Silents4291 votes

Ap xin got nerfed because of the abuse potential he had with sated, and they reverted the change anyway. Or said they would.

Edit- They reverted it already.

Axis the Dragon1 votes

Let's be honest though, healing for 1/4 of your health every 2 attacks is pretty broken when all you have is Sated + Visage or Sated + Nashor's

Troll for Trump1 votes

Kayle jungle says hi

Axis the Dragon1 votes

Alright, let me reiterate

Let's be honest though, nearly all of the Champions that use Sated are potential abuse cases, except maybe like, Warwick (ironically) - who's still strong with it, mind you, just not as strong as the abusers (Xin, Kayle, Shyv, Yi, to name a few)

Troll for Trump1 votes

Ok I just played AP xin it is pretty insane. Although you do get bursted pretty easily

Troll for Trump2 votes

I don't think they reverted it yet. Idk riot's not good with these types of things. Even if they didn't change AP xin, and reverted it back, very few people play xin zhao. Even fewer would want to play AP xin zhao jungle.

Kayle Jungle is still a problem Shyv jungle is a issue too. Udyr is dirty Master Yi is cheese.

Basically every jungler that has synergies with devourers is Op. So all AA reliant champs kappa

Silents4291 votes

Just checked they reverted it just this patch.

And have you seen Jax with the item? It puts the rest to shame.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Dude try Irelia jungle with devourers, double true dmg every other attack. Kinda like vayne except better for the jungling meta.

manbearswine2 votes

You can't buff rammus, because if we buff rammus we then will need to buff other weak champions, and when you buff champions you risk having them getting overbuffed.

I mean look at elise for example,we haven't seen her for a long while and now she is ban worthy,I mean sure they will probably nerf her into a more acceptable spot soon enough, and then we will have more variety, but is that really worth it?

TurquoiseYoshi2 votes

Rammus has a good kit, he just needs buffs to that kit. Many other weak champs need full reworks to be useful. Your problem is normal for a game with many characters, with varied abilities, and many new features introduced gradually.

manbearswine2 votes

Like who? pretty much all champions can be brought to viability through number changes(though generally there are more creative ways, but not something like a full rework),mind you some have questionable kits,so the question is more of "should they be viable" rather than "what numbers do we buff".

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

Well, you can give anyone viability from improved numbers, but full reworks, or at least reworks of certain abilities, is a lot better. Every character should be viable, because that's how game balancing works.

Okay, let's try to talk more specifics to better illustrate the point, lux and brand haven't seen competitive play in years, and are generally considered subpar, what would you say is their problem? what would you say should be done about them(numerical buffs? full reworks? minor changes?)?

Every character should be viable, because that's how game balancing works.

Apparently not,at riot they play favorites, face it,if they had any consistency thresh would've been nerfed PROPERLY years ago, bastard has been flavor of the month since release(thresh is the most obvious example, you also have things like nidalee, lee, ahri, and so forth).

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

1: Lux and Brand are middle-of-the-line champions. They haven't seen competitive play because they are not at the top.

2: True, true. I do question their logic sometimes. But then there's also the Gangplank and MF buffs, two champs who haven't seen major use... ever. There's also the Rek'Sai nerfs, and she's seen major use since she came into existence.

I hate being the guy to break bad news(alright,no I'm not),but middle-of-the-line champions don't go ignored for years, eventually the meta shifts, the top tier loses some power and the second tier starts seeing play, this hasn't happened for brand and lux because well...they are not second tier, either you buff them or don't expect them to see play(It can still happen with some surprising massive meta shifts, but isn't something you should rely on).

2: True, true. I do question their logic sometimes. But then there's also the Gangplank and MF buffs, two champs who haven't seen major use... ever.

Those were minor(or mediocre for gp,w/e) reworks, and frankly, they took quite a while with them, meanwhile the moment dfg is removed ahri receives a mini rework(comparable to that of mf) instantly. I mean at some point even when work eventually is done you gotta say "yeah that's great and all,but this was completely overdue",I have friend who waited for gp to get work for years(literally),then you open pbe,see ahri buffs, and go "wtf riot".

There's also the Rek'Sai nerfs, and she's seen major use since she came into existence.

I'm not sure if reksai is one of their "favored" yet, she's a bit too new to make a decision.

TurquoiseYoshi2 votes

1: The support pool is too stagnant, and the mid pool is too wide, for either to get a lot of play.

2: I agree with that. Riot takes a while to make large changes a lot of the time.

3(?): She's been at the top of the jungle tier list since her creation, and has a global ult, long range skillshot, an anti-stealth ability, a knock-up, an AS boost, and generally a perfect jungling kit.

manbearswine2 votes

1: The support pool is too stagnant,

Of course it's stagnant, thresh is half of it.

and the mid pool is too wide, for either to get a lot of play.

Okay take ahri for example, for the past 3 years, how many times has she been off and on in the meta, now how many times were lux/brand?

2: I agree with that. Riot takes a while to make large changes a lot of the time.

It's not even large changes, some champions have been remained semi-trash for years while only needing minor changes, take zyra for example, she saw serious play for like 2 months(2 or 3 years ago?) and that's the last we heard of her,do you really think she needs a massive rework to work again? They just don't care, and prefer working on ahri some more.

3(?): She's been at the top of the jungle tier list since her creation, and has a global ult, long range skillshot, an anti-stealth ability, a knock-up, an AS boost, and generally a perfect jungling kit.

Riot has a tendency to give new champions more attention than old ones,so first you need her new status to go away(for about 3-4 other champions to be released),then you need to wait a bit, then decide.

I always though Rammus is quite small, almost to chibi-chamions (Corki, Teemo, Poppy etc).

So buffing his siz by 25-50% could actually be pretty cool :)

AAnd second thing: Imo his powerball damage should scale with MS. Y'know.. E=MC^2 Einstein would approve!

Honestly I think they stealth-nerfed this but his taunt used to be able to "drag" the opponent towards rammus. After they removed that feature from the game and made his taunt only 2.25 sec he became kind of worthless.

If they put back in the ability for the taunted champion to follow rammus during his taunt as he walked away, I think he would become alot more viable

Mayor Stubbs1 votes

I've been playing him the last two seasons and think he's okay. He's a little on the weak side but still very viable.

I think small buffs can easily push him over the edge into OP like he was most of last season so they will need to be careful giving him buffs, a simple meta change affects him a lot.

A revert to his Q nerf and his E armor reduction nerf would be good steps. There was no reason at all to nerf them
