Why do I always lose lane against Silvers?

I'm in Bronze 4, still in Bronze 5 MMR. There are usually more silvers in my normals games than Bronze players, and lately I've been losing lane every time to them. The big examples that come to mind are when I went against a Garen as Gnar and lost and when I went against a Fizz as Morgana and lost. I've gone against several Lucians as my main and lost. If direct counters aren't going to help me win lane, wtf am I doing wrong? I always look at their items before I engage, and I never engage when I think there's even a slight chance of me dying. Then I do.

The Silvers in my normals games didn't usually bother me, but now that I'm losing so much it kinda does. What do I do when I'm playing against someone more skilled than me?

Need more context. However:

They way you wrote it, feels like you're trying to 1v1 anything you come across, which is, a flaw. You gotta use your head and try to use an advantage by team numbers not by items. Wards hold that advantage within each time you buy and place one. My 2 cents.

If you're doing as you say you are, it's hard to tell unless one actually watches how you lane.

practice makes perfect you answered your own question, it's because they're more skilled than you also, you used morgana vs a fizz i don't see how you can even engage on that morg vs assassins usually means after you use your snare you die

if your facing more silvers then bronze while in bronze 5, then your mmr for bronze 5 is too high, thus your being paired against people a tier above you

bait them out, early game try to last hit the first wave and harass. if he engages you those little minions will agro him and put him on the back foot since farming under the tower is crap.

champ counters are only so strong. skill and game knowledge is much more important. some things are only counters if you actually play it right. sometimes fighting is just a bad idea in general and you want to just farm it out. sometimes you have to poke them down first before going all in (which in this case, even if your champ counters them, if you all in them at 100% vs their 100%, you will lose). what would help is if you recorded one of your games or something.
