Tell me again how tank stats matter?

I guess im imagining tanks being obliterated.

And before you say 8 seconds is a long time, I was running away from their team.

Also yes, my KDA sucked, but everyone was full build at this point so it didnt matter.

-> lategame -> full build adc with lord doms

you do realize that damage is supposed to outscale tankiness, right?

You do realize that one ability should not be doing over 2 thousand damage to a 500 armor tank right?

Anonagon10 votes

If you think its that busted, complain about Jhin, not "tanks aren't tanky enough!"

Jhin is by far the strongest ADC right now

ProfDrDeath5 votes

Whenever Riot release a Marksman in the last two years, eventually they had to be nerfed into the ground.

Kalista ? Awaiting a rework. Kindred ? Nerfed for about 10 patches straight, then finally changed to not have too much power in the early game. Jhin ? Next in line...

INoble KnightI3 votes

To be fair Jhin is pretty balanced. I think Jinx is stronger than he is but ADCs in general shred tanks way to easily.

AirKingNeo5 votes

I mean he's only a lane bully who doesn't fall off at all building armor pen but also hyperscales.

INoble KnightI1 votes

And actually has a decent learning curve lol

AirKingNeo4 votes

oh no a learning curve, because hard champions need to overpowered.

INoble KnightI2 votes

I don't think he's overpowered. He can be if ahead or used correctly but not outrightly so. Hell he had to be buffed on release cause he was underperforming. He's annoying at best in lane but you can counter him.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Yeah well Kindred and Kalista had it coming. Kindred needs like a mini rework and Kalista needs a new passive.

ProfDrDeath1 votes

Kindred is actually in a fairly good spot right now. She's still a heavily scaling champion that works really well when she gets the hunts and gold, but she's no longer one of the strongest early junglers, as well.

Kalista needs to lose something from her kit, true.

AirKingNeo4 votes

Sorry Jhin and Lord Dom's are so disgustingly broken.

WoonStruck14 votes

You do realize that means his ult did nearly 8000 damage alone, right?

Malph still had 300+ armor vs that Jhin.

That's not simply outscaling lol

Anonagon4 votes

Once again, complain about Jhin, not "tanks aren't tanky enough!"

I find the guy busted too. Make a thread about him. Tanks are tanky enough, Jhin is just disgusting.

FantasySniper9 votes

Actually, this is a common problem. Unless you have a steroid somewhere in your kit, you're not tanking shit late-game.

Anonagon3 votes

that's the point multiplicative damage is supposed to greatly outscale tankiness its the entire point of the video game

FantasySniper10 votes

There's a difference between "outscaling" and "overperforming". When a tank can't even be considered tanky late-game, there's a problem.

Snowman Arc1 votes

Well, that's why you always pick an AD marksman in your team in every game. There is a reason why ADCs are so valuable and picked in every game and are protected by a support etc. They do have insane scaling into damage in the late game, so much so that they outscale the tanks' tankiness. You don't always see a tanky top laner, or a tanky jungler or support, but you always see an ADC for that exact reason. The team needs some insurance that in the late game, they have a champion that can deal a lot of damage.

If that wasn't the case, then people would be picking assassins, tanks and supports in every lane and win the game in the first 10minutes, because that's what those champions do. But they don't, because they know, come mid-late game, the ADC will outscale them.

To your point, I can make a case that the top lane tank outperforms the ADC in the early game. Why isn't that a problem? Every champion has a role to play depending on the time in the game. A fighter will beat an assassin and a tank, a mage / assassin will destroy an ADC, an ADC will destroy a tank/fighter, and a tank will setup an entire teamfight and try to minimize the damage dealt from the damage dealers through crowd control or by making them focus the tank.

TeCoolMage4 votes

Well, yeah. Why do you think tank Vayne and tank Zed isn't viable???

Actually, this is a common problem. Unless you have AP scaling in your kit, you're not doing AP damage late-game

Tank akali doesn't actually tank, she just kills before it matters.

INoble KnightI1 votes

By tanking enough dps to not die but yeah same difference lol

Snowman Arc1 votes

Jhin's ult does a lot of damage, sure, but in order to deal that damage, he needs to:

  1. be stationary for the duration of the four shots, making him very vulnerable to being attacked
  2. the shots are linear skillshots, which means that the Jhin player actually needs to land those to deal the damage, unlike someone like Veigar or Syndra who just point and click nuke you. 3)in order to do a lot of damage, the targeted champion needs to be lower on hp
  3. most importantly, all of these shots are linear, which means they can be blocked by other teammates willing to save someone else.

all these points make it so that Jhin can in theory take down anyone, but in reality, actually landing all 4 shots onto a single champion is really really hard (dodging, blocking, staying safe, aiming etc).

If you got caught out or whatever, then it's your fault. If your team didn't protect you when you needed it, it's your team's fault. It's not Jhin's or Malphite's fault though.

MLDzXnRRR9 votes

You should be countering the 480 armor and 4000 hp with magic damage. What's the point of going tanky vs AD team, if you can't tank? Better go AD/AP and try to burst them first.

This post is hilarious. I play only tanks. If you let a JHIN and an entire team hit you for EIGHT GODDAMN SECONDS you either pulled the most brain dead engage possible or got caught out alone. Both game losing mistakes in that long of a game.

If the teams are even close to even, you should've ulted jhin (WHEN YOUR TEAM CAN FOLLOW UP*********) and JHIN would be dead before he even hits the ground. 8 seconds is a fucking eternity in league, AND you tanked his entire ultimate. If you and Jhin were 1v1 wailing on each other, you'd kill him in 8 seconds. At least.

Tanks are not hard to use in this meta. Seriously. You just can't expect to 1v5 engage the enemy and then not die. You do in fact have to think about what you're doing, and what the rest of your team is doing. Goddamn I'm getting so tired of these "Tanks are too weak" posts. Winrates don't agree with you, both competitive and soloQ don't agree with you. There is zero evidence that tanks are weak right now. I hate to say it, but GIT GUD.

Tanks themselves are not weak, but defensive itemization and scaling could use some buffs.

I think an argument can certainly be made for defensive itemization. They need to make it so tanks get more from these items and other classes get less, via some kind of stat scalings like how AP or AD work. That would solve problems with Yasuo/Ekko as well.

Nerfing penetration and increasing %based defensive scaling would be a good start. Yasuo/Ekko's problems stem more from their kits than itemization. Not really sure how to fix either of them without reworking them entirely.

I don't think penetration is a problem honestly. I am of the small minority who also think Yasuo and Ekko's kits are fine too except for maybe the percent missing health in ekko's. If Ekko can't become all that tanky, even with 4 tank items, he will be fixed. Just give champions defensive item scaling. Then t becomes insanely easy to adjust champions that are building in ways that are inherently unhealthy. We want people to be able to build lots of different builds, but if it's clear something is cancer (PD FM Yasuo, triforce tank ekko) you can adjust accordingly.

Do the math and it comes out to nearly 8000 damage from his ult alone.

240 Armor gives you:

100/(240+100)= DMG multiplier.

100/340= 0.294 (You take 29.4% Physical damage)

+15% physical DMG (cause of dominik passive against greater HP)

[29.4x(0.15)] + 29.4 = 4.41 + 29.4 = 33.8% Damage taken from Jhin

He had 240 Armor. I did the math... Properly.

DeathTheHorseman31 votes

482 Armor (92 Base Malphite LVL 18)

-7% of total armor remaining (Mastery Ferocity) 92+(390-175.5)x0.07= 306.5x0.07= -21.5 (mastery)

306.5 - 21.5= 280 Armor

+20 Flat Armor Pen (ghostblade) + 10(Duskblade)+ (10 Runes)

280 - 40 = 240 Armor

240 Armor gives you:

100/(240+100)= DMG multiplier.

100/340= 0.294 (You take 29.4% Physical damage)

+15% physical DMG (cause of dominik passive against greater HP)

[29.4x(0.15)] + 29.4 = 4.41 + 29.4 = 33.8% Damage taken from Jhin

That full build Jhin has 700+ AD. (Passive)

His ult does between 160 Base + 20% AD (140 with 700 AD)

160+140= 300 min base (no crits)

when you are max HP and

560 +70% AD (490 with 700 AD) so ~1050 DMG (before the Crit)

#Last shot also does crit for 250% damage (cause of infinity edge. Fromula is Base damage (1050) + Base x(1+Crit damage wich is 0.5)

#This is the only Crit in Jhins kit that does not get reduced by his passive. -25% Crit damage)

#The first 3 shots can also crit mind you! (188% Damage after passive reduction but yeah it's still broken)

So the ability can easily do TONS OF DAMAGE if he crits.

_**

#Lastly His final shot probably hit you when you were 10% HP (which means his ult had 0.9x2.5 bonus damage from it's minimum ) and dealth 33.8% of something like

0.9x2.5= 2.25

so 2.25x160 + 2.25x0.2xAD + (160+0.2AD) = 520 + 0.65AD = 520 + 455 (700AD) = 965 Base damage (before crits)

Last shot did:

965 x 2.5(crit) = 2412 DMG before Armor

2412x0.338 = 815 (After armor)

The rest of the hits probably hit for half that on average (even if they were crits) 1st 200 2nd 350 3rd 500

Keep in mind we are not calculating masteries that boost % of damage (double edged, Suppressor and executioner) Which is essencally ~8% added to that

Also I took Jhins AD to be 700 but it's probably a lot higher (Insanely higher if they have Fire dragons or he has wrath elixir.)

_**

P.S. You mention you were running and the only possible explanation is that you took damage prior to Jhin ult (about 1000 damage if death cap is precise) So you were at the 70% HP mark before eating the curtain call

You can sign this as unlucky RNG of Jhin criting way too much with that ult (even if he has 50% Crit chance on the 1st 3 shots and 100% chance on the 4th)

Sona x Rubick11 votes

what do you mean by bad engage?

an adc doing 8000 damage from 3000 range isn't ok, that's so intuitive for me

Gregor Gysi3 votes

His ult is on CD. I assume that OP ulted in when his team was out of position - that is why he started running away (if his team was present then he'd just stay on top of Jhin, give him an AS slow to reduce his AD, deal damage and win the teamfight). The fact that Jhin was able to get of a full ultimate on OP shows that OPs team was so incredibly out of position / not in the position to fight - they didn't even manage to do anything, which is really incredible.

If OPs engage or the follow-up of his team didn't suck so badly he wouldn't have died like this.

Anags5 votes

Jihn's ultimate is one of the best engage/counter engage tools in the game. Getting the full duration off is not hard. It happens multiple times in every pro game. But I'm sure they are bad and out of position lol.

Gregor Gysi1 votes

Jhin did not engage, Malphite did. At the point of the screenshot we can see that Malphite used his ultimate 14 seconds ago and he died 7 seconds ago. That means he died 7 (probably 8 based on the death timers, Ult CD mayb activates after the knockup) seconds after using his ultimate.

So what happened? Malphite ulted into the enemy team, got focused by them and immediately realized that his team wasn't there and thus started running away - which is why Jhin immediately started his ultimate. Malphite died after 8 seconds which means that his team either 8 seconds to arrive and help him/block Jhin ultimate (which means the engage was shit) or was reluctant to do anything for some reasons (which is still a misplay but we don't know why and by whom). Given how OP says that he was only running away I assume that his team was not anywhere close, OP tunneled and engage badly. Jhins ultimate may be great for a counterengage, but it's not when there are 4 enemies ready to fuck you up.

Sorry, if Jhin is able to attack Malphite for 8 seconds without taking any damage and without his team taking any damage (only Ori got some more damage than Malph R+E) then the engage was shit. (or OPs team)
