A question (likely a stupid one) about Lee sin's R

Why is it more commobly used to kick an enemy squish into his team or as an execute, rather than knocking the front line tanks and bruisers back into the opposing team?

Because usually putting the squish out of position(or killing them outright) has a more desired effect than trying to line up a front line champion to deal damage to the rest of the team. If you just knock back the tank and they can engage after, then Lee's ability to peel or disorient the team has already been used.

Seems wield to me that they added the extra damage onto the knock back if they didn't instead for Lee to use it by kicking the tank into the backline, allowing his own team to re engage

To give him a reason to use it on a tank or for a tank to be weary of Lee sin.

So basically, both are options but the squishy target is better.

If Lee gets on the squishy and sends to his team to execute, at best he's taking out an enemy carry for free and at worst he's trading his life for the carry's. In either case, his 4 allies with all of their long CDs still up (as no one needs to ult the carry, he's dead) can easily carry the remaining fight. Unless the enemy team has 3 or even 4 big damage threats (e.g. a fed Jayce top, a VI jungle, and a Cassio mid, may not be the best call to suicide to kick the ADC back) by taking out one big damage source the enemy team typically only has 1 damage source remaining (and likely burst, not sustained) so his team can clean the whole fight.

Kicking a tank is good for disengage or if he can execute with the bonus damage, but overall it's not going to set up a won fight.
