A note to adcs
If you are against 3 tanks
maybe get a last whisper instead of your 3rd crit item
trust me your team will thank you for it

They're too tanky.
I can't kill them.
We need shred.
Don't worry. I'll take care of it!
. . .
. . .
. . .
(>_>)
Fine. I'll do that too.

Told you I'd take care of it. :)
EDIT: 5 minutes later.
Janna, why don't you have any AP?
. . .
[ ALLIED DECAKILL!? ]
You're joking but you've no idea how many EC's I've had to buy as Janna
The joke stems from experience.
God why is this just every one of my games?
I bought
on Leona once. it was amazing how we suddenly started winning all the teamfights. Riot should just add a support item that builds from
.
I'm gonna start building it it soraka matches.
That might be a hard thing to do, Supports usually dont do too much damage "at least for most metas" meaning the item would either be an active or proc off any damage at all, and if its the latter it might be abused by non supports.
This is why I want an AD support. So they can build the shit the adc refuses to build.
i shit you not i have built Mortal Reminder on Bard before because my team refuse to get grevious wounds against a Mundo.
I had to build it on Sion for the exact same reason.
It's not a terrible build for Sion against the right enemy comp. He's got lots of AOE physical damage to utilize it.
well lot's. . .
thats a bit of an overstatement
yea if you can land your fully charged q all the time
but yea everyone and their grandmother has piles of % movespeed in their items in addition to an excess of mobility spells so good luck with that
it's mostly a zoning tool tbh
If by "fully charged Q" you mean "0.5 second charged Q" then, yes, you are correct. His Q is physical damage no matter how long he charges it, so it will always apply grievous wounds with Executioner's Calling.
"Zoning tool". Hah! That's rich. It is not hard to hit Sion's Q at all if you play him a decent amount. You just have to learn how to time it - don't get greedy and hold it too long to get the knock-up, don't snap-cast it if they aren't directly in front of you, let them cancel it if you don't have a great shot at it (it gets reset to a 2 second cooldown, so they usually can't cancel it the second time), predict when champions will try to dash out and knock them up mid-dash, learn to estimate their hitbox (you can often hit people when they appear to be outside the range). Use your E to prep them for Q. Get your team to scare them into Zhonyas. Etc.
oh i wasn't at all talking about applying grievous wounds, more about how his physical damage isn't that big of a deal
i was pointing out that he does not deal as much physical damage as you are saying, if you want to deal more physical damage there are better items like titanic hydra which works well with mortal reminder
it's not too hard to land his Q, however a fully charged Q well that isn't always happening and that is where the damage is
and that is also why
isn't the best buy for Sion because it only really offers damage, and ofc grievous wounds which would be the main reason to grab it
it is funny though having a tank body block your 1k damage ult and then being hit with a 700 damage Q which would normally not be an issue since they have armor but now you suddenly chunk them hard ^^ bonus points for raping tanks with your passive ^^
Anyway it isn't the best item for sion as it only really helps fight tanks, though it isn't the worst buy either
But sometimes grievous wounds is necessary and in such a case it is be worth taking
alternatively Sion is one of the few tanks who can combine
&
&
he can make use out of the AP even tough he has poor ratio's
but what makes it work on Sion is his access to hp through farm, for most tanks this would be too big a hit to their hp pool but not for Sion.
The CDR is very nice and the mana is always welcome
Works really well, anyone near you gets grievous wounds as well as anyone who basic attacks you, provided they ever get below 35% hp.
Yeah, I would normally never get Executioner's Calling or Mortal Reminder on Sion unless their team was pretty heavy into healing.
When I said "lots of physical damage" before, I was referring more to "lots of ways to apply physical damage" in an AOE, not that he usually deals tons of damage. With ult, Q, and Titanic Hydra, he can usually keep Grievous Wounds applied to the entire enemy team pretty easily in the games he needs to get it. Even without Titanic Hydra, his Q is on a short enough cooldown at max rank and cdr that he can permanently keep the enemy team Grievously Wounded.
That is definitely an interesting item combination. Morello's can be really strong on Sion as a first item if you max E first (I normally wouldn't get it outside of midlane, though), so that could be a pretty decent build to start out with damage and transition into tank.
Have you tried the magic of
on bard?
I bought it on Shen once (pre-spirit sword). Suddenly, I was the only one able to actually kill Mundo and Vlad.
Considering enemy team also had a soraka, and we only had 1 source of magic damage; I couldn't believe I was the only one to build it.
I've had a Miss Fortune tell me to build Lord Dominiks instead of her so that the rest of the team would have the armor pen to take care of tanks and she could still go for a full as crit build. I was playing Tahm Kench...

I know, that's the point. She was an idiot.
enemy teams caitlyn with no LW at 37 minutes - crying about tank meta in all chat hue
Basically what happened to me.
Usually I end up just abandoning adcs like that but with 3 tanks we needed her alive.
Unless it's a meta powerhouse most current ADC's are kinda bad against Tanks all the way until the lategame, the need for items is too great <.<
Also a note to ADCs.....quit denying me cannon cs on my relic shield :(
If you're
, make sure you actually get it consistently...
This... good God it is annoying.
Especially when your midlaner sees you coming and proceeds to blow every single cd on minions because they think your gonna steal farm.
You know what's really bad? Playing Sion and having Taliyah support insta-clear a triple minion wave with two cannons 5 feet in front of you. Goodbye, 50 bonus health...
It isn't the tank supports you have to worry about stealing farm - it's the mage supports.
Also a note to ADCs.....quit denying me cannon cs on my relic shield :(
(Thresh specific) I've lost too many cannons due to a thresh not being able to CS. I'll give him 1, maybe 2 chances, after that he doesn't get to last hit anymore
Yea, I agree that Thresh is a bit of a special case in this scenario. In the same respect, I have a rune page exclusively for Thresh that contains gold/sec runes so that I can afford to go after the lesser minions that I have better odds of last hitting so I don't accidentally screw my ADC over. I don't play him much, but I feel like it made a world of difference.
Mannn I never get adc's like that LOL They are usually pretty nice unless we're losing lane but even then they are silent and tilted. Only
players are toxic to me when I support :T
As for armor Pen they usually build that 3rd item xD
I mean, even in pro matches that I have been watching (admittedly, I don't watch a ton, so this may not be common) against 2 tank 1 bruiser or 3 tank teams, I still see the pro's going 3 crit before a LW.
I'm not saying the pro's know everything about the game, but I am assuming the know more about the damage out than a gold and a plat player.
Every game I've seen has the adc going flat pen or with ashe in a more supportive role.
I know right. I'm an MF main, and any good MF goes for armor pen. first to get those penta kills and 2v1 wins.
Flat pen is absolutely shit against tanks.....
Think it's for the early spikes, in lcs
Was up a quins mod recently let me just tell you that it was very painful
Enemy team has
. None of my AD teammates build a
. Why team? Why? You are all AD and I'm a Brand support with Morello's. Imagine what Mortal Reminder would do to this team.
Ugh.
Unless the enemy has LITERALLY no armor when you finish your second item, build LW. Believe me, it's good. I don't get it why it's so complicated.
Been in such a situation. Enemy team had a
. My ADC refused to buy
, so I bought it with Gnar and just went full AD
Faced a Fiora and a Warwick yesterday as Darius. Rushed that item and won lane pretty hard.
Lost because of late game teamfights though.
Well, late game AD Fiora doesn't care if you're a tank or not...
Funnily enough it wasn't the Fiora that was the bigger issue. It was the enemy Caitlyn getting fed despite getting demolished in lane and my team's lack of coordination (and the two boots Shaco dcing).
Well, he has two feet, makes sense!

A note to adcs:
Don't complain about getting oneshot if you buy 6 offensive items.
A note to you.
Don't complain about your adc doing no damage if they build defensive.
[deleted]
Yeah getting one or two defensive items is building defensive, right?
Pull your head out of your ass.
You have never played ADC if you think you can actually get a defensive item.

We can still build
without losing too much damage!
Altho that doesn't help at all against Zed, talon, rengar, lee sin, kha 6 or well....anyone who doesn't rely on CCing to kill.

Where can you gather 3.7k like its nothing instaed of getting your crit chance or armor pen item.
By the time you get merc scimitar enemy team will have void staffs negating 35% of it + their magic pen from runes.
The only thing you get from that is badum tiss...
qss
And some AD, lifesteal and then the important active^^
Seriously that active is amazing and the lifesteal even if only 10% is still a world better than 0%.
