Please consider removing out of combat movespeed from Ghostblade and Edge of Night

Valhalla Rising··55 votes·2,016 views

Ghostblade already has a movespeed steroid which is oppressive and Edge of Night is absurdly overloaded.

It fit's Duskblade because that item is about utility and it's variable/niche strength, as well as having a higher cost discouraging early rush.

Considering it's component item 3134 has the passive It would require a creative means to accomplish this but, I really feel it's necessary.

Edit: In response to the point of lethality being the problem rather than ooc ms, I'd just like to remind that the ms gives an advantage for positioning to abuse the lethality, like the tip of a Varus executing you which has become a hyper common scenario recently.

Or just remove it altogether from Dirk and make it just part of Duskblade's passive or something instead?

But I don't see what's wrong with it. It's an assassin stat and it's not broken. Lethality (especially on ranged) is the broken part.

I actually like out of combat movespeed as an assassin stat. It really helps assassins do their "thing" without just causing them to have more damage.

That said the lethality items are super overloaded at the moment anyways. Everyone knows that though and I don't think it's because of the out of combat movespeed.

I agree. The out of combat movespeed isn't the issue here, and if anything it actually promotes these items' use on the champions that should be building them rather than the ones who shouldn't because assassins like to roam - that should be gameplay that's encouraged imo.

My personal opinion is that EoN needs to be changed so that it has a faster cast time but way shorter duration - maybe 1 second, 2 at most, and possibly a longer CD. I feel this would promote its use on assassins as their playstyle is already very dependent on quickly getting in, doing damage, and getting back out, while it would be less effective for ADCs and other champions. As it stands, it's highly effective on ADCs because they can pop it before the fight happens, and have a free spell shield that the enemy has to get through before actually being able to fight them for essentially the entire duration of the fight.

By the way, I think this is a problem on assassins too. You shouldn't just get to stand around for 10 full seconds waiting for the perfect time to go in with your shield up - once you pop it you should be forced to use it within the next few moments or lose it for the duration of the fight. The amount of standing around the item promotes is completely contrary to what assassins should be about.

As for Youmuu's and Duskblade, I don't actually think they're all that overloaded. The true damage on Duskblade is pretty insane, but it's also highly situational unless you're someone like Talon or Twitch, and Youmuu's is actually pretty straightforward. It's a stat stick that gives you some move speed on a reasonably long CD for what it does. You could argue that the vision denial part of Duskblade makes it a bit overloaded as well, but imo it's not that big of a deal. It's on a long CD and it's no substitute for a proper Oracle's Lens if that's what you need in the situation.

Then when you put in on an assassin adc like quinn..

I know Riot doesn't like doing it in order to promote item diversity and experimentation, but honestly more items should probably be melee/ranged only. Too many items intended for assassins especially end up overpowered in the hands of ADCs and other ranged champions.

They're supposed to, Riot intended it that way.

Basically, when they're in-combat/in lane, they can't bully you out as well anymore, but when they're roaming, they turn into Sonic the Hedgehog.

It's why Talon's base ms is so pathetic, they forced him to be a roamer based around mobi boots and running around everywhere

Riot defines Assassin as fast, high mobility, and burst damage (source: http://imgur.com/Un8G66p )

They want Assassins to be getting around the map, so the assassin items help them with this

There are other ways to nerf the non-assassin ghostblade/EoN abusers

GB has an MS active, what more do you want bud? No one gives a jack about one-sided definitions rofl.

Downvoted.

I think there are lots of items that should have their MS stat buffs removed unless its integral to the items MAIN purpose, or use to combat MS creep because in most cases it feels like the item could do without it entirely

What if Ghostblade and Edge of Night lost their out of combat movement speed upon casting the active effect? Ghostblade because stacking MS steroids is kinda bullshit, and Edge of Night because if you are using its active you're basically in combat.

Shadow Strider2 votes

What exactly would be the point of the active on Youmuu's if it doesn't stack, though? The entire point of the item is to be able to chase down squishies and get to them fast enough to kill them. EoN I could see, but I honestly just don't think the MS passives are the issue with lethality items right now.

I am cool with Ghostblade having OoC MS since it's more of a MS boosting assassin item. but I am not up for duskblade having it nor Edge of Night.

Zetto1 votes

Only if ghostblade gets its AS boost back as well, so it can be useful again on the champions that actually needed the AS, and then make it melee only so Quinn /Twitch don't abuse the ever-loving fuck out of it.
